  • hmmm.

    not.

  • well you my friend are shit out of luck it is estimated within the next 20 to 30 years most cartoons or animated series will be anime.

  • Jessie, awesome work. Glad to see people appreciate all of your hard work. I love watching these and have shown quite a few of my mates over here who are looking to study film at uni.

  • Can't wait for episode 12. Then most of waiting is gone... except for DBP:NYC part Deux.

  • You are using a wrong mic. Too much background noise. But you are still a god. U R DA BEST!!!

  • Fascinating, Great work!

  • Jesse is the coolest motherfucker on the block. The block being the entire internet, of course.

  • pretty cool concept!

  • Is this something we can purchase? If so where?

  • its free to download, via an video podcast on itunes, and its amazing! from intro title, to every little sound effect to every singe pixel that is recorded and drawn ^^ defenitly watch it!

  • anyone know what type of editing software was used for drawn by pain?

  • I used Avid Xpress Pro HD for video and Adobe Premiere Pro for Audio. We also used Toon Boom for the animation :)

    -Jes

  • thanks. i just watched eleven episodes of drawn by pain and i cannot wait for the twelfth one. cool animation, great soundtrack, awesome shots, and good acting. amazing production value for such a low budget.

  • Aw shanks NK _ we really try our best and always nice to hear someone enjoyed it :)

Please join our Email update thingy - so we can keep ya posted on when 12 comes out and thx again,

    Jes

  • Jesse seems really cool! Very down to earth and genuinely a nice guy! The show looks awesome too.

  • Thanks man - I try to treat people as I like to get treated. Sometimes people can be jerks - but what can ya do :)

    -Jes

  • jesse cowell! i remember you from RVB. Drawn by pain is amazing man. Your actualy one of my inspirations for starting film making. Keep it up man.

  • Thanks Ninja - I hope you are well my friend!

  • That movie looks awesome :)

  • Thanks Aris!

  • Boobies

  • Are good.

  • That movie looks like dog shit.

  • It took two years to poop. So hopefully it's some awesome dog shit :)

  • this coming from someone who hasnt posted a single video.

  • I just started Watching it today and it fucking rocks!

  • Thanks Veggie!

  • No Problem man! You made an excellent Series.

  • ROTOSCOPING FOR THE WIN

  • Woot!

  • looks pretty badass jess just curious what kind of camera ya used?

  • Thx much!

I used the Panasonic HVX200 at 24 frames per second.

  • how much would that camera cost?i'm trying to buy a good camera to film but i'm never sure what's a good one to use i want my movie to look pro...

  • Hard to say DTM what looks pro or not. That cam costs about 5 thousand or so, but there are others that do a great job as well.

I like to think it's the person behind the cam as much as the cam itself.

    GL with your project.

    -Jes

  • which animation software did you use to make the cartoons come to life

  • To draw the cartoons I think they used Flash.

  • love indy mogul and loved the dawn of paiN!

    exsquisit!

  • OH NO,

that looks so bad. the sketches are fine, not amazing, bu the "high def" ewe. its so off. color correction? try again.

  • awsome, your so lucky!

  • the movies load too slowly and it wasnt interesting enough to wait.

  • Damn you dial up!!!! :P

  • Looks like a nice idea and movie - but the one thing I don't get is why you can sometimes see the person behind the animation...

If that was green screened out I think it would look nicer :) But thats only one small point - Good luck with the movie!

  • The animations are a projections of her inner mind (not something she becomes per say). So they appear on top of her and sometimes (in certain episodes jump completely out of her body) There are other characters that have nothing to do with people that you will see as well.

    -Jes

  • so we should produce animations in HD format oh man oh man :)

  • lol

  • i watched all 11 episodes in a row this morning it's great, congrats - streaming went well, no lag - also its very touching :)

  • Thank you M!!!!

  • Sounds great, want to watch this.

  • The videos are pretty cool. Good interview

  • Thx Giant!

  • No problem. It's an awesome concept and I like how it all comes together. The first episode wasn't really based on dialogue but more on pure emotion. I'm about to go watch more of the episodes not. The camera work was incredible. Keep the films coming.

  • Giant - it's so nice to hear the intention of EP1 was clear - I wanted to make something that created a pure emotional impact for EP1 as the rest of series would be on the back of it. Thanks for "getting it" :)

    -Jes

  • how long did it take you to put the animation over the real footage? and how did you do it?

  • Hi NSO,

After exporting a sequence of stills - We used a program called Toon Boom Studio to draw into each frame. We then exported the frames back as an alpha channel which we put into our editing program.

It takes about 1-2 months per episode to do as each frame has to be individually drawn.

    Shanks for the question :)

    -Jes

  • That movie sounds interesting. I'll probably check it out.

  • Thanks Stick - let us know what you think (good or bad) we enjoy feedback :)

    -Jeskid
