Well, I've never been the type who cares if people give me thumbs down, or even up. Maybe some people thought I have a problem with Julie. I certainly don't, I love her! And when you love somebody, you don't like to see her in a clumsy, awkward situation. Am I wrong?

No, it's good to give an honest opinion and to have a critical viewpoint, instead of being retarded and always say "oh Julie is the 8th wonder of the world," etc. She's human too. That said, I like the talk here, I think all 3 are funny. The song sucks, but it was just meant to be the opening of the show -- expected to be light & fluffy.

That said, some of our greatest entertainers were not suited for the small screen. Garland and Sinatra failed in their respective series. Dick Van Dyke and Julie's friend Carol Burnett were huge TV hits, but didn't make the transition to films. I look at Julie's youtube clips because I love her, but it's obvious from this clip and others from her TV show that something was not quite right in the way she was presented, or she just wasn't meant for the little screen.

I always enjoy reading your comments, regardless whether I agree with you or not. Obviously this show did not work when it ran for some reason--we all agree that Julie Andrews is wonderful--but the show somehow did miss as I remember it.

That Julie is wonderful is something we all must agree on. The show is another matter. But think of this: you can count the number of successful, long-running variety shows on two hands: Gleason, Moore, Burnett, Martin, Sullivan, Shore, Como, Williams, Skelton,

maybe 2 or 3 more.  But tons of hit westerns, dramas, sitcoms, panel shows, mysteries, news-oriented, and now idiotic reality shows.

It's very hard to build a weekly 1-hr show around 1 person, and pull it off.
