  • is the best miusic

  • How did the two kids die?

  • @xxa411xx they were trampled to death/suffocated

  • @xxa411xx Drowned in the mud which was around 4 inches deep due to bad weather and there being no way to them.

  • wtf this was taping with some russian camera???

  • I was there, the two kids that died where both 16 years old, me and my friend where 16 years old, by the time the coach got back to Cambridge and we walked to Great Shelford it was like 7a.m. and I rang my front door bell, my mum said Your alive and then bitch slapped me, I thought: 'What the fuck?'

  • First i heard of the deaths was reading a newspaper at a service station on the way back home. Sad end to one of the best festivals i ever went to

  • Does anyone else remember the inflatable shark? :-D

  • Two peeps did die unfortunaltely...i was there....didnt realise til later...very sad...fuckin awesome day tho.....107,000 crowd......freezin soggy day....hell of a crush....I'm six foot five so was safe from the crush but not entirely popular with the poor fuckers behind....remember the heat from the crowd coming up with the sweet smell of recycled cider from dodgy bottle missiles....ah the memories. :-)....

  • wtf with the video, was that 1965 or what!!?

  • Wow some good stuff from back in the days... Probalbly from the first world tour or something. You hear the fans not knowing how to react to Guns N' Roses. Must of been fun back then...

  • considering the terrible picture quality, the sound is pretty good!

  • wow they rock but quality sucks

  • what the fuck!

  • I LOVE GUNS!

check out my cover of the solo for this :)

  • Link some other here I was there near the front when they first came on but when the crowd started moving like it did I bug out (Lost my 5 gal water bottle in there lol) it got very scary with how much the crowd shifted like you would be just pushed 10 feet and more with no control over where you went as I said very scary but other then that its one of the Highlight of my life.

  • cell phone videos sucked back in 88

    - or it was one of those fishcer price pixel cameras...

  • phones wouldnt even have colour back then

  • they had camera phones in 1988?

  • dude, not all the cameras were black & white.

  • I agree with adam777, I'm pretty sure it's a pixel vision camera. They're a long discontinued video camera that recorded onto an audio cassette.

They (black & white, or sepia) picture quality is awful but the sound is OK. Their big avantage is they are very small and light weight, as are the recording medium.

  • i was there , not far from front, is was mental...

  • why the video quality is so bad?????

  • Jeeez , It was scary up there for a while, one minute the crowd surged left, then the next to the right, everyone falling. I ended up on my ass , but some one grabbed me... shudder to think!

  • I was near the front when it all kicked off. I got knocked off my feet, but someone behind me picked me up (bless you, whoever you are) and I moved out of the danger zone.

Man, my first festival - I was just eighteen and I'd had my A-level results that morning. I had no idea why my mum sounded so relieved that night when I called her to tell her I was on my way home - I only found out the next day what had happened. It couldn't have been more than thirty yards from where I was standing...

  • I was at the front waiting for them to start but I was getting squashed and knew I had to get out. I watched from a distance and saw people being carried over the fence.

  • imagine dyin while listening to gnr and every one else rock out

  • I was at this concert!!!! God I was 18!!

    Time fly's

  • ME TOO I WAS 20!

  • i was there.....2 mins.........r.i.p.

  • might be bad quality but still kicks ass. GN'R RULE!!!!

  • 2 people died after this song. like 20 people ran over them

  • ...

  • I'd like to see them playing It's So Easy at Monsters of Rock 1988.

  • i was there remember being lifted off my feet and carried for hell of a distance just managed to grab hold of my buddy or i would have never found him again SCARY SHIT !

  • it was during paradise city when they died. Well, if there is a Heaven, then the've gone back to the paradise city. no better way to go than in front of the best guitarist and best frontman in the world! RIP

  • Nar it was Its So Easy I was there when it happened and not to far away where they died. I remember it.......

  • @Allymc130889

Actually the two guys are reported to have died during It's So Easy. I'm quite happy to be proved wrong but that's what I remember reading.

  • two people died

apparntly thay couldnt be identified by there facese its was so bad 1 had to be identified by his tattous

  • I was there and the whole crowd lifted me from my feet and took me towards the front; i've never been so scared in my life. I don't know the lad who died that day but i do feel very sorry for him because it could very easily have been me! I don't know whose fault that death was but the organisation of that concert was crap! Those there might remember, the Proj screen for Iron Maiden on the left had already collapsed before the concert strted. H & S was nver a priority in 1988!

    Chris Carr

  • Fuck yes - I remember I got carried and I was a right bastard even then. It really was a case of standing on other peoples feet/legs to stay up.

It would have been one of the best times ever but you can't say that 'cos the deaths.

It was the last time I went until 2005 ozzfest gig (not 'cos of the deaths - I got married and had to wait for my son to get old enough to drag along)

  • Guns n roses were one of the biggest bands ever, plus this was at their absolute peak(appetite was about to hit number 1)When a band is huge and red-hot bad things like this happen. R.I.P for the two young men who only wanted to see some good rock bands

  • @deeplysarcastic ..Appetite was already at number one by this point...it happened during their tour with Aerosmith....

  • qualitys shit..

  • i remember that - i jumped up in the air - the crowd was so tight i didnt touch the ground again for 10 mins - scared sh*tless i was - got pulled out from security during 'paradise city'

  • I was there and almost got killed in the crush. Worst day of my life.

  • the crush?

  • Yeah, 2 people crushed to death and more than 100 hurt.

  • it was the best donington festival ever with Iron Maiden, GnR megadeth kiss.

  • check out my donington '88 video, eighteen minutes long and better quality! just type websitemad into the youtube search...enjoy !

  • i was there.. the screen fell down

  • what i'd have given to have been there. Dude, i've been lookin for summat like this forever. I saw them a yr ago and it was ace but this is in its own league. Incredible <3

  • There is no official videio of this festival. There was no riot. It was fans just pushing forward. Simple as that, with no way out. I was there. I saw it happen.

  • I was there too, SCARY. I was about 50 yards from the stage and for a while there, I was at the mercy of the crowd. Could barely breath! What a wild experience that was!

  • 2 people died

  • I was among the 108, 000 fans there that day and since the fans were crushed the organisers got their act together very quickly and the following year barriers were introduced to seperate the front section of the crowd. Sad that people were lost but credit to the organisers. RIP ROCK FANS. We will remember you.

  • I think the tapes of this live performance were "censored" or kept because there was a riot with deads. Only Paradise City is available (its official video)

  • There was no riot. I was there. There was a huge crush caused by people rushing to get to the front to see them and because of the layout of the arena at the time, there was no way out. The position of the stage was changed in subsequent years. I didnt like them at the time but they did play an awesome set.

  • fuck the video

  • Ahh they were the days.I remember stinking of piss after it was thrown in bottles HEAVEN.

  • my dad was there (H)

  • i was there 18 yrs old didnt know there was video footage available, must start growing my hair again lol

  • i didnt even know who they were i got my ticket that morning so when axl started to wind the crowd up we was all giving him the bird then it all went fucking manic they had such energy . later on i saw the two people who died being carried off that crowd i didnt realize what had happened till the next day i just remember it being weird iron maiden refusing to play until everyone took a step back . both great bands

  • My first rock ever concert. where to go from there cos it couldn't get any better. Fantastic experience.

shame about the 2 people who died.

  • man, the real g n r. we're stuck with axl and some unknown band now

  • Dude you guys actually saw GnR live at their peak man! thats fucking crazy man, i wish i was born earlier and couldve seen this glam rock n roll era man, would love to see it. Lucky you guys.

  • Is there anymore footage of their performance at donnington? i would really like to see it, its VERY rare.

  • The official video of Paradise City is the only I know besides this sweet child o mine.

  • I remember Donnington was cancelled the following year, cos of the crush

  • Was there too, I made it to the front, remember being crushed and pulled over the wall. guess I was lucky.

  • i was in the crowed and it was scary shit man 2 people died, me and my mate and his chick just made it to the side as the crowed collapsed

  • yes me too , i was almost by stage and i remember axel screaming "letts go fucking wild" just b4 mr brownstone began .fun but scary day

  • I was there too, right in the crush man. Scared the living piss outta me. I remember two people under me on the ground: one guy on the very bottom with his eyes closed and a girl who I lost after I got heaved out by some huge dude with a Megadeth patch on the back of his denim jacket. I remember the bottles and shit flying overhead too. A tragic day, one that I will always remember. So nice to hear from people that were there! All grown up and living back in Canada lol Boy, how times change....

  • i feel if like i was into the crowd lol
