i'm from Asia and have been to many parts of Asia including Thailand. It's funny to see that many westerners being inspired by this movie and traveling to Thailand which is infested with young tourists eager for spiritual salvation. They stay on Kao San in Bangkok, just to hang out with their own kind, and complain about getting bombarded by street hawkers, which they will recount in detail to their family and friends to fish for admiration and jealousy.

i traveled to thailand by myself all the way through Phucket and to the koh phi phi islands because of this film. never thought a movie could have such an impact on me and im glad it did. it changed my life and was the best thing ive ever done

Im getting my Visa next week which lets me travel Thailand for 3 months :P and why I am I doing it? All because of this film. My boring little Scottish town can kiss my arse goodbye, along with all the scum locals fighting in the pubs every weekend.Theres an entire world out there and nobody is forcing us to sit behind a desk and do the same things day in day out. Leonardo and a couple he meets at the hotel in thailand venture to find the island using the map the crazy guy gave him. On the island they sneak through a marijuana field and make it to the beach. At the beach there is already a small amount of people living there where he lives for some time. Watch to see what happens at the beach
