Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone truly knew how to create moments of audio/visual genius. Could this be the greatest piece of music in the history of cinema? I'll never forget the shivers when I first watched this film and heard this.
I was lucky enough to see this movie on the big screen. My local arthouse cinema put it on. Fantastic. I took my gf, she hated westerns at the time. it opened her eyes!
@sabbi6678 He finally found the grave site where $200,000 in gold was buried. He threw away his map then went searching for the grave where the gold was hidden.
@tubehows4life Lol, well I'd recommend the movie anyway, so sure watch it, I wont spoil it for you any further ;). If you cant be assed to watch the movie though I'm sure Wiki describes the plot in full.
IM 23 AND LOVE THIS MOVIE,,,WHEN I WAS 3 YEARS OLD AS A CHILD MY FATHER WOULD LET THIS PLAY 3 TIMES A DAY TO KEEP ME QUEITE HA HA GREATEST WESTERN EVER
Great music, great movie. The guy in the clip still lives actually, he is 95 now or something, just great! First heard the music cause Metallica used it as introsong for their concerts in the early 90´s.
Sergio is a genius. You can see by looking at this scene:
The music is happy and beautiful, while thousands of graves are in the background.
The happy music represents Tuco's (the ugly) hope and ecstasy for reaching the money within the grave, a fantasy.
The graves represents the dead, the civil war that happens in the movie, bereaved families, sadness and the way life are wasted without an end, a reality.
Sincerely from my heart God bless you for uploading this , this scene in 1080hd and the music! i almost feel like crying. This is my best scene stretching to the shootout of any movie from any era
EPIC!! one comment that I've seen is where they say TUCO runs like a sissy. Well, on his defense he is running like that because he is looking for the name on the grave, so he being tactful by using his hands and arms as a guide. If he ran fast and normal he would not be as successful; try it yourself...
Morricone could never have wrote a better score for this scene than he did..This remains a titan when it comes to individual pieces of music for short scenes.
This movie remains one of my all time favorites. Ennio Morricone was a true talent in every sense of the word. Interesting enough, check out the opera singer from this music elsewhere on Youtube. She has a set of "pipes" to perform her contributing part of this music. Wonderful movie, actors, director and of course, Ennio.
@belizarius1"During the scene right before the final duel where Tuco (Eli Wallach) is running frantically through the cemetery, a dog can be seen running on-screen at the beginning of the scene. In reality, that was improvised on the spot. Sergio Leone, who was afraid that the scene was going to slip into melodrama, released the dog without informing Eli Wallach first - thus, his look of surprise is quite genuine."
I have always thought this scene was the most under rated. The giants of today could never have directed such a scene. This movie with Eli,Clint, and Lee will go down as maybe thee greatest western ever.
@Goku3388 without intonation this comment can mean a lot of thinks. i reconsidered it and deleted my comment as you see. sorry if offended. this is legendary song.
what a hell of a cemetery. he had to be desperate to run all over cemetery to find i think $2000 in gold then near hang for it.go eli. i love these old movies and music. go ennio
how could you not like this. I was just a kid and I fell in love with this movie while watching it with my dad. I love the song. It brings me back to the first time I watched it, which was a priceless feeling...
My favorite movie of all time. I watched this as a child and the feeling never died that I got from seeing it the first time. I think spent a months playing these characters from the movie. I never missed this movie when it came on. I think I went six years without seeing it between high school and college, and when I saw it again while in the Marines...it was still fucking epic.
God i could spend days discussing this movie! :D The plot is so simple when you think about it but the way they execute it is what makes this movie the everlasting classic it is! ^^
