BIG fan of Nick Diaz but there seems to be a BIG difference from him in this interview compared to his more recent interviews, I guess I could be because of the added media pressure from being back in the UFC.
You guys tend to forget that in a couple of years when he'll retire he won't have that steady income and even if he's getting 150k a fight it won't last forever, it's not the GSP's ppv cut getting milions per fight kinda money.
He pays at least 10-20% to trainers\camp and there's huge taxes and lot of expensive equipment and stuff that fighters spend on.
@AvivB8 more like 25-33% to manager than up to 10% to trainers and than 30%plus in income taxes. Oh and if he gets injured it comes out of his pocket. Nick really does make shit pay.

@stangeriam Looooooooooool. Pride has at times bad decisions and there could be a legit case that fights were fixed. UFC has not hasd any fight fixing allegations against the UFC and they are not controlled by criminal orginizations.

This is a real conversation, everything else that's said in the fight game is pre-packaged strategies to promote fights. You know what? People like Nick, you should just get an interviewer that can really talk to this guy. If I was interviewing Nick, I would ask him about his training, about his mental game, his strategies and respect his wisdom. Just saying, these interviewers just don't understand what we can all learn from these fighters.

the amount of times he says "you know", you can tell he doesnt like the promoting side of the business. Just get Chael Sonnen on each of his fight cards and you wont need him at the press conferences

The bottom line is..the UFC doesn't want him to be the champion..because the UFC doesn't want him to be one of the "faces" of the sport..think of all the baggage they have to explain after..in their eyes..
GSP is a posterchild of the corporate fighter..the problem is the fans want to see people fight, not posing for the media...
I'd rather watch a 1 round Diaz fight than a 5 round GSP square dance..

@tillman40 Actually i think the UFC DOES want Nick to be champion. Look at how quickly Dana announced Gsp vs Diaz after Diaz won by decision against BJ Penn. I think the UFC needs a NEW 'posterboy' because of all the hate GSp gets, and lets face it posterboys get old, there needs to be a change. For example look at John Cena in the WWE.

@13Doses I think the UFC wants to fight Diaz as often as they can cause Diaz is red hot from a marketing standpoint in and out of the ring. They want to make the mega millions in the GSP fight but don't want the long term issues with Nick as the champion.
I frankly would rather see the UFC full of fighters like Diaz. I hate corporate fighters.
