  • Caruso like!!!

  • Great job by the accompanist too!

  • Why, how is Pavarotti the world's most famous tenor and very few know this great singer???

  • this is about as flawless, technically as it gets. Obviously, many other tenors with lighter, higher instruments, don't need to consistently cover as low as Giacomini does, but his vibrant passaggio work is something to be awed by. MAESTRO!

  • Unbeatable. What a great tenor. I wish I could have heard him live.

  • I Sang with Mr. Giacomini in San Francisco. Great voice! but a nervous reck

  • I heard him many times, and believe me it wasn't even close, his voice was a LOT bigger in the house than Domingo's, whom I admire a lot, by the way.

  • He could be erratic to the extreme - not only from day-to-day, but within the same opera, over the course of an evening. He had great Corelliesque moments, only to be followed by straining & sharp singing from phrase-to-phrase in the same aria!

  • BRAVOOO!!!, perfect technique, one of the best of the best!!!!

  • tenor spinto was he isnt?....

  • LA PERFEZIONE ASSOLUTA.

  • His voice.....hurt mi brain in the last high note.....thanks to the inundating SQUILLO THAT THE MASTER PRODUCE...IN HIS VOICE...but even not only in the last high note...the squillo continue producing it in the end of the song......this is a fenomenum that we can not hear so much....because only can be produced...for a really smart o genious singer...like Master Giuseppe Giacomini.....this interpretation is historical...to remember for centuries..........thank you for share this Grazzie mille

  • Bravo !!!!! Sublime Voz !!!!!!!!!!

  • There's a famous story about him singing Cavaradossi when Pavarotti cancelled in SF. I was there, I heard him. I had heard Pavarotti some yeras before as Cavaradossi. Pavarotti was better although his Tosca (Caballe) wasn't nearly as good as Slatinaru.

There had been a lot of press about how big Giacomini's voice was but it didn't come across that way in the theater. Certainly not like Corelli, Vickers, or Atlantov. Ludovic Spiess and Aragal had bigger voices too in Tosca.

  • @Agorante Domingo had a louder top than Giacomini. I heard them both in Tosca at the same year. But Aragall did not have a big voice, certainly not bigger than Giacomini.

  • @AfroPoli ridiculous!

  • @tdeane34 Hm yes, I bet you heard them too in the same role in the same theatre. In case you haven't, then you are probably just one of those many youtube bigmouths wannabe opera experts. Salute!

  • @AfroPoli Well, I have heard them both live and Domingo's top was not louder, but forced and shouted. He(Domingo) had the worst top notes of just about any tenor I can think of.

  • He was not so good looking as Domingo, that`s the point. God, what a voice!!!!!!

  • SPENDIDA ESECUZIONE E GRANDE TECNICA. SOLO A GUARDARLO E' PIU' CHE UNA LEZIONE DI CANTO. DA LUI CAPISCI CHE BISOGNA TENERE SEMPRE LA GOLA APERTA. GRAZIE MAESTRO.

  • fantastic breath control and what a powerful voice, his voice is not suitable for this role however this is just pure gold and art. Bravooooooooooooo

  • So much squillo.

  • super

  • One of the best in this century. Very underated simply because I think he paid more attention to his artistry over fame and fortune.

  • jesus!

  • OUTSTANDING. GG here has full power and impressive top tones. A major-league dramatic tenor, beyond any doubt:) - -

  • Wow, first time hearing him. He surely is a great tenor. Wonderful technique and brilliant voice.

  • Never heard him before. One of the best I've ever heard.

  • First time I've ever seen him. Very good technique with a big voice. Italy has given us so many brilliant opera singers. This gentleman takes his place among the very best. Whoever put this up here, grazie! Mi é piaciuto cosi tanto.

  • love him singing this but i also love the sweeter sounding version that Pavarotti does on the "The Three Tenors" cd -check it out

  • THE GREATEST TENOR OF THE LAST 50 YEARS

  • Sublime ! Grazie !

  • UN AUTENTICO BARITONO CON GLI ACUTI DA TENORE......splendido GIACOMINI.

  • Reply to other Reconditas... this is incredible!

  • Bravo!

  • Roberto Lasagna eat your heart out. Now THIS is a REAL TENORO ITALIANO.

  • Would Caruso have sounded more potent than this if we had better recordings of him? I doubt it. His voice is truly Heldentenor.

  • Un vero artista.Grande Giacomini.

  • ....MIO DIO!!!!!!!!!! ma come fa a cantare così a st'età!??! un genio! bravissimooooo! grazie! O.O

  • Insomma " a st'età," qui in fondo aveva solo 48 anni.

  • LOVE the POWER rules all

  • i thought he was going to puke at 2:46

  • Excepcional.

  • its interestin how he dident loose his voice at that age....many other tenors loose their voices in 50is or earlier....like Cura

  • His singing is amazing. But, a suggestion to young tenors; "Don;t try this at home" if you don;t have the right equipment it can ruin your voice for life.

  • Certainly agree if you are talking about trying to match his timbre, but technically, (his cover choices etc,) he is incredibly efficient and, well, "right." I would say a young tenor shouldn't be working on this aria at all. If he is mature enough to start doing this rep, then there are many things to be taken. Like is proper cover on F in the first phrase that he maintains even on the ah vowel, but then opens on the E natural. That is textbook.

  • @antfreire hahaa truly, dont do that or try to force it

  • @antfreire thanks for the adivce, lol, I was about to try that since I kinda have some sort of dark lyric tenor voice...but won't try this :S

  • @antfreire You're right, but if one adopts a posture of lengthened back of neck, which brings the chest up automatically, with the other basics of proper support in place, one can begin the journey.

  • @antfreire no it can't i sing this sort of music with vocal training

  • Thank you so much for this post. It is wonderful to see clips of him in his prime. He is still amazing into his sixties, but this is just beyond beautiful. Everyone marvels at his power, but one must never forget his artistry. He is a wonderful musician.

  • 2:37 NO MAMES.

  • I heard him singing Othello in Helsinki couple of yars ago. Of course he wasn´t like in youth but I loved him !

  • Holy crap! This is unbelievable! I keep hearing extraordinary stuff from this guy, here on youtube and elsewhere, and I cannot believe that I only heard of him just recently. His voice is amazing!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • Very good!

  • his voice is too strong for this aria. check josé carreras.

  • There IS no too strong for this aria.

  • Indeed, one needs a very strong voice to sing puccini

  • Giacomini is not underrated @all! U speak of all time? Try Borso, Gismondo, Labo', Masini & probably The most underrated of all time Franco Tagliavini! Ever here of those guys? I'm glad 2C Labo' makin' a come back w/collectors. I have his vinyl released by London records. They've re-released a lot of these Vinyl due 2public demand. Hopefully, his will be next:) Besides complete Opera recordings, he's got a 3volume set from Il mitto del opera & a live duet concert w/Olivero. My 2nd favorite tenor

Grandissimo maestro.

  • this is the ideal!!

  • The most criminally underrated tenor of ALL TIME!!!

  • @billthaxton Lei signore ha perfettamente ragione...Saluti

  • 20 years ago in Seoul Korea. INCREDIBLE~

  • One of the great singers; thank you for sharing. Who is the pianist?

  • Maurizio Colaccichi ... I'm not sure the spelling of the name.

  • @vocal38 The real spelling of the name is Maurizio Colacicchi, he's my teacher ;)
