As our ancestors created the wheel and so progressed all of our tools. Just because the process works doesn't make it right if the next set of tools makes it safer. Using such a dangerous tool to teach leans on the side of irresponsibility when novice carvers are trying to grasp information on a new skill. Buy only the tools you need and as the story goes the best your money can buy.

hey i recently decided to get into wood carving. But ive found 2 different styles of carving. theres this one that your doing and then theres a style where the carver carves the whole piece of wood... can u explain this to me?

@gskoufaras yea, I know....hope someone will teach me one day...been carving like this for 30 years though and am quite successful selling aviation wood sculptures using these knifes, they are quite professional, you would be impressed......self-taught...o­nly knife I had.

Hi Valerie ! I sure remember the days of X-Acto...lol,bottom line...use what ya' got.Mahogany is beautiful, maybe try some good nothern basswood-cuts great and shows up on vid. a little better,keep up the great work !
