What a lot of people don't get about Fight Club is it doesn't even attempt to make Tyler's way of life seem positive, it doesn't. What it is talking about is when you have a culture that forgets to treat people as human beings, people will resort to pain as a way of feeling and as a consequence, are often lead toward destructive paths.Tyler is basically Adolf Hitler (or Mao Zedong), and he is turning a society of victims into his own slaves. The tale is cautionary, not nihilistic.

@PaulDenton14 As the way I see it, he is only turning society into his "slaves" (They voluntarily came to his house) just so they can assist him in giving them complete freedom, meaning the have absolutely no reliance on anybody. This is why he destroys the banks, so that no one would be an economic slave and everyone would have to learn to be human again after economic collapse. To Tyler Durden, being human means being uncivilized and self-reliant.

everyone, it's on the DVD you just have to watch the beginning with all the piracy stuff but you can't pause it (I don't think) but it MAY be just before the film. It's really good cuz it shows that people don't read these things when they see real ones but if you do end up somehow reading it (it's on for about 5 seconds) then it reveals Tyler's meaning...that you should all (who are reading this) stop being such saddo's by finding out a way to read it and go and live life... and start a fight.
