Motor Trend earned so much respect from real drivers by ranking this Corvette so low; just because a car is devastatingly fast, doesn't make it a driver's car. The ZR1 simply does not offer the rewarding handling and precision that a true driver's car offers.

One night a few years ago, while a supercar show was in town, my buddy who was working security let me drive my taxi on the track. Nothing like a high performance sports car, but still a very thrilling ride. I had a caprice with an LT1. I know, you might consider it ancient, but it was in great condition and you'd be surprised. I'd give newer mustangs a run for their money on the streets!

The driver just doesn't have enough experience and skill the ZR1 lapped the Nürburgring in 7:26.4 seconds which is faster than a Porsche Carrera GT and Koenigsegg CCX look it up. And whattheheack is right the ZR1 isn't the best car in the world but for me it's the most fun car to drive.

I did a 1:29.672 in an all stock ZR1 on forza 3 using the controller with all assists off regular manual no clutch.Im pretty proud of that after seeing this guy's lap.
Now put the Audi on the track along side the ZR1 and let see what happens. The performance is all there in the Corvette. Now manage it and see who is first at the finish line.

Man you can look at the accerlation difference between all other cars. That thing is a monster, but compared to the euro sport cars they still got us beat as for as the handling goes. But still the Corvette Zr-1 still is the best bargain out their today.
powerband is different that hp/torque, you are so fucking dumb. Say it with me POWER TO WEIGHT notice the weight part-it's has no affect on powerband. Look at the caterham csr does that have a better powerband than the enzo-no. But It has a better power/weight. 20 sec? it's actually 6 seconds faster than the ZR1. Much less disp and much more boost, if you had half a brain you'd know the correlation between boost and making up for disp.
ZR1 3325lbs & 640hp, GT2 RS 3185lbs & 612hp ; do the maths... power to weight is no real advantage here, only engineering.
hp/tq gives a definite idea of cars powerband.. pwn you on that next
Superchargers make half the boost of any given turbo as I've previously explained, however have no lag aspect just linear boost, so equalise to a point there, the fact this Vette has another 3.5L of displacement (I know I've covered it but you're retarded) makes up all but the rest.
6.2-3.6=2.6 not 3.5, and I'm retarded? And you are so wrong about the boost aspect it's funny, the reason there is more power with a turbo is there is not parasitic loss from running the turbo. The belt takes tq to turn so there's less to multiply by the rpm to get whp. Exhaust driven turbos are better but are more expensive and heavier-they also require tapping into an oil source.
If you think they were trying their hardest you're a fool. Look at how easily the aftermarket add huge power to the car(HPE 700755/1000-Twin Turbo), and remember that everyday people have to buy it and there are fuel/emission standards. All my previous statements still stand and if you had a brain you'd just admit the vette is a good car.

@MY700WHPK20 Sorry man but the vette isn't crap. Sure it may have fiberglass body panels, but that helps with weight and also absorbs a little energy in the event of a crash. Sure the interior isn't the best, I'll admit, but for the price, not much comes close. It runs with all of the ferraris, lambos, and porsches, even the gt. Not only that, but it's far more practical. The other cars aren"t every day cars like the vette, and you can fix the vette easily. The others are very expensive to fix.

The driver just doesn't have enough experience and skill the ZR1 lapped the Nürburgring in 7:26.4 seconds which is faster than a Porsche Carrera GT and Koenigsegg CCX look it up. And whattheheack is right the ZR1 isn't the best car in the world but for me it's the most fun car to drive.

@jerpao13 zr1 has some serious competition... im afraid the 7:26.4 in nurburgring will no longer be a really fast time.... the 2012 gtr plans to be 530 horsepower and it is expected to get about 7:18~7:20.... lets hope the 2013 corvette c7 is a better car.... the 2013 vette is expected to be only 3000 lbs and have better aerodynamics.. but will have only about 440 hp for the base.... lets hope the c7 zo6 isnt messed up as the c6 zo6

Its kinda bs what hes saying when he compares it to the R8. He just went around the track a full 5 seconds FASTER than the R8. Do a lap in the ZR-1 5 seconds slower then decide what was easier to drive. Or attempt a lap in an R8 5 seconds faster and decide what was harder. The faster the lap time, the harder the more involved the driver has to be. What if he drove a Yaris around the track in 130 seconds, that would be the easiest of all.

its funny how you youtube aficionados know much more about driving than an expert. Realize, while the zr1 is an incredibly fast car both on paper and the real world, it takes extraordinary skill to drive one fast. More often than not, the kid with daddy's money gtr will beat you.
As for those would say the gtr drives itself; understand 90% of car manufactures include driving aids. Even the mighty zr1!

@whattheheack I dont think you should even compare the v8 R8 and Zr1. Performance wise they arent even close. ZR1 competes with 599, Lp670, etc. Even the V10 R8 doesnt quite come close. V8 R8 and Zr1 are very close in price, but thats about it.

I like the ZR1 too but truth to be told it has the weight in front and a ton of torque in the back wheels, it is meant to be over steering on power. That for me makes it a fun car, the R8 is great but I believe it's going to be boring on the road. Unless you are looking for a track car, the ZR1 will be more fun a small blip on the throttle and puts a smile on your face :-)

powerband is different that hp/torque, you are so fucking dumb. Say it with me POWER TO WEIGHT notice the weight part-it's has no affect on powerband. Look at the caterham csr does that have a better powerband than the enzo-no. But It has a better power/weight. 20 sec? it's actually 6 seconds faster than the ZR1. Much less disp and much more boost, if you had half a brain you'd know the correlation between boost and making up for disp.

Superchargers make half the boost of any given turbo as I've previously explained, however have no lag aspect just linear boost, so equalise to a point there, the fact this Vette has another 3.5L of displacement (I know I've covered it but you're retarded) makes up all but the rest.

6.2-3.6=2.6 not 3.5, and I'm retarded? And you are so wrong about the boost aspect it's funny, the reason there is more power with a turbo is there is not parasitic loss from running the turbo. The belt takes tq to turn so there's less to multiply by the rpm to get whp. Exhaust driven turbos are better but are more expensive and heavier-they also require tapping into an oil source.

@MY700WHPK20 Sorry man but the vette isn't crap. Sure it may have fiberglass body panels, but that helps with weight and also absorbs a little energy in the event of a crash. Sure the interior isn't the best, I'll admit, but for the price, not much comes close. It runs with all of the ferraris, lambos, and porsches, even the gt. Not only that, but it's far more practical. The other cars aren"t every day cars like the vette, and you can fix the vette easily. The others are very expensive to fix.
