True, he does play a bit stiffer then others you might have seen but that is his personal style. Besides, the important part is to be able to play the song, such things like theatrics can be added later.

actually, a persons face may distort while, for example, playing an instrument or sport, but its not necessarily emotion. say somebody was not :getting into it" but they were still making "emotional faces" its actually a consequence of their brain trying too hard to focus on sending signals to muscles involved that it stops sending as many to the face & so, the face droops, like when somebody gets a stroke. so really, technique = controlling emotion, and not giving onesself a stroke. true story.
