MJ has the most known big game winning shots of any player in NBA history. He is by far got the highest conversion rate in the clutch. Kobe Bryant is not among the top 100 all time in assists per game, MJ is, he's #82 in ASP and #36 in assists.
Kobe won't be able to eclipse MJ, He's so far off and absolutely no chance to pass Michael "Air" Jordan whasoever. Kobe fans, just keep dreaming and watch Kobe's FG% stinks more at the end of this season. lol!
MJ consistently raised his team's level of play, while Kobe hinders his team's level of play by consistently missing a lot of shots. Michael Jordan carried his team consistently, Kobe's team carried him consistently.
Kobe has only 7 career 50- point games or higher against top 10 rated defenses. MJ had 22 career 50-point games or higher agaist top 10 rated NBA defenses.
You can't deny the facts: Rookie of the Year MJ: yes Kobe: no All-Rookie First Team MJ: yes Kobe: no Season's over 30 PPG: MJ: 8 Kobe: 2 Seasons over 32 PPG: MJ:5 Kobe: 1 Regular season Seasons under 50% shooting Kobe: 15 MJ: 9 Seasons under 48% shooting Kobe: 15 MJ: 5 Seasons over 50% shooting Kobe: 0 MJ: 6 Seasons over 52% shooting Kobe: 0 MJ: 4

If Michael Jordan in his prime playing in today's NBA's present rules where the handchecking rule is banned plus the installation of the defensive 3 second violation, he would have easily avg. 45+ PPG. The League is to convinient to the young stars of today. The 80s and 90s NBA was the most physical brand of basketball in the world.
jordan will always be the best to ever play the game. but kobe is the person closest to jordan because he studied his moves, added his own, and learned from other great players.
i highly doubt kobe bryant watched this clip of jordan before the game and said "im gunna go out there and try and duplicate this" this is just what any smart player would have done i mean thats just the only way to make the shot
@Kobeownzu81 Then you obviously don't know that much about your idol. If you read his books, and talked to his teamates, or even just watch a documentary, you would know that Kobe can see a move and incorporate it into his own playing quicker then any other person.
Thats why they said he watches hours of film looking at how players such as Magic, Bird, and especially Jordan do their moves.
He picked to copy Jordan the most because they were the same size according to an interview.
great players play similar. if u EVER played in intense high talented bbal game u would kno that NOBODY thinks of ANYBODY else and their moves u jus go put the ball in the hoop at any means
Don't be idiotic. Great players may do THE SAME MOVES, but not in the exact SAME WAY. If you were to do a side by side film comparison, you would find that every individual player has their own special way of doing things. BUT NOT Kobe!
Its like when players shoot. Everybody shoots, but not in the same way. It's not a coincidence that KB looks exactly like MJ in EVERY ASPECT.
Not even just the game! The way he talks, walks, celebrates, etc. EXPLAIN THIS! KB is a copycat. Deal with it.
@mjordanisnumber1 LOL wow everybody else but kobe hahaha u must hate kobe huh. as i recall MAGIC JOHNSON SAID "Kobe isn't going to be the next Jordan, he's going to be the first Kobe". in other words, Kobe has his OWN style of play. AND KOBE SHOOTS NOTHING LIKE MJ both of there forms are totally different. u take kobe's style of shooting even on a video game when creating a player and his shot the form says "Kobe" not "Jordan"
@YoungBeta hahaha!!! Wow kid!!! You have never seen MJ shoot have you? Go watch "Kobe, student of Michael Jordan" and tell me they don't shoot the same, and have the same mannerisms.
Magic and Phil aren't going to tell their true opinions while they're working! They are paid to get people excited about the new players, not feel depressed that one isn't playing anymore.
Phil also said that H. Grant was the best foward in the league when he had him, and Armstrong was as good as any PG! haha!
OMG y r ppl so dumb? nobody can change the minds of fools even when something is said and can be proven! omg go somewhere with that phil jackson is paid to blah blah blah. so i guess ppl are PAID to say that MJ was the best in his era huh
@YoungBeta haha! Did you watch the video? haha!! Don't get mad youngster.
Yes they were paid moron! They lost so much money when MJ left. It nearly killed the league! They finally gathered up some stars that people could be excited about.
Just to give you a glimpse of what MJ meant, and his affect, he had all of the top rated games in NBA history. Today, the game that got the closest to rating like MJ's era was the 2008 NBA Finals. MJ's last game as a bull still recieved almost 2x the
@YoungBeta Obviously, Phil stretches the truth when they are his players. What is he going to say? That KB is nothing to MJ?? hahaha!!
Phil was asked how many pts would MJ avg in today's league. He said 45 pts without hesitation. Phil said MJ was stronger, faster, and had a higher verticle leap. So... Who does he think is better?
ratings!!! There are tons of people who don't watch the NBA anymore, but did when MJ was playing.
PPL and Phil aren't paid to say anything about MJ. MJ isn't playing. In the league or under Phil. Ask Phil who he thinks is better once he's no longer coaching KB. Then u will get a honest answer.
They have to focus on the current and future attractions. Its amazing that MJ's legacy still causes most players to say he's the greatest ever.
OMG there is so many holes in your answers. please prove to me that the ratings have an affect on a coach's say. and did u kno that the allstar game is being held with 80,000 ppl to watch? u kno THE LARGEST GROUP OF PPL EVER TO WITNESS A BASKETBALL GAME and youre gonna tell me ratings are dwn??? go somewhere
im NOT debating who's better out of MJ or Kobe! do u REMEMBER anything? we're are talking about styles of play and u THINK that phil is getting payed to say not that kobe is better but that kobe has a better shot LOL
@YoungBeta I don't believe that. KB 3 pt % is only 2% higher with a lot more shots taken. 3 pters were never part of MJ's game. But guess what? In the playoffs, MJ's 3pt % is better then KB's. MJ's stats go up when it counts. KB's go lower.
80,000? WTF? Ratings were the highest during the Golden Era of the 90's. Look it up.
When someone says something highly absurd, thats all the proof I need. Look below for my comment about what he says about his players.
im talking about mid range jumpers and im just telling u what has been quoted im not going out on a limb at all
yes the all star game is being held in Dallas in a BRAND NEW built arena to hold the amount of ppl attending the game. not to mention the views/ratings. u said that the rating have went dwn quite a bit, i jus dnt see that if something like this is happening.
also bball is taking over the world as i can see, considering that too i jus dnt see how the ratings can be dwn as u say
You obviously weren't aware of things in the 90's. Why do you think MJ is the highest earning athlete ever?
Because the NBA was at its highest peak. And when he left, it nearly destroyed the league. The ratings were pathetic.
The NBA will be the first to tell you that the 90's were the golden yrs for them. They have yet to replicate it. BBall was taken to all the world during MJ's time. Thats why the dream team was treated like the Beatles wherever they went.
i agree with the rating being up with MJ but didnt u kno that in the 2008 olympics basketball was the most watched so even tho the ratings dropped when MJ left it has to be back up. not to ention CHINA building like 800,000 bball courts across their country
@YoungBeta Phil Jackson said in his book that Kobe is uncoachable. That alone says it all about Kobe. He's not really about his team but himself. Without Shaq and Gasol Kobe can't get a ring. They carried his ass with their consistent games. Last year's Finals, Gasol should have been the MVP. Kobe score a lot but takes a lot of shooting to get his points. I can argue with that, just check his career FG% and tells u everything. Players that score a lot with low FG% is a ballhog player to me.
@ilocos78 What the fuck are you talking about?? What do you want kobe to do? Get a ring by himself? you're just like saying Mj can get a ring without Pippen. fool
@jjdudz23 Kobe was a sidekick to Shaq and looked like a sidekick to Gasol during their 2 championships runs. Gasol should have been the Finals MVP not Kobe because he had more consistent games than Kobe during those games.
im not saying MJ wasn't the best, he WAS, and maybe IS. But he wont be forever. Why say " ok we got a star, lets not get more"? someday some1 WILL be greater ( not saying its kobe or lebron but it'll happen ) dont just say JORDAN 4 EVA coz he's not. no1 is.
dwyane wade does a lot of things like MJ. remember in one of the recent all star games he flips the ball over the back of his head and reggie miller says "this shot was made famous by michael jordan" thats just one example. and KG is a 7ft PF/C how is he going to "copy" MJ? i'll tell you what tho, every player, including KG, tries to copies MJ's success.
Obviously, there are going to be some moves that are going to be similar, it happens with every player, but I don't see Wade copying his GAME.
Dwayne got a move or two, but his whole game? No. Only Kobe. And Wade doesn't copy the way MJ talks, walks, celebrates, his mannerisms, etc. Only Kobe. Its really weird.
He probably took the song Be Like Mike, and must have hypnotized himself with it, Haha.
ha yeah kobe does take it a little further than everyone else.
2006 finals wade put up jordan numbers, thats pretty impressive.
in my own opinion, kobe is the best individual offensive player to ever play the game. he probably wont finish with more career points than kareem, jordan, and malone...and jordan obviously was better at winning basketball games, but if you need a bucket i think kobe is the best, and its probably because he copied jordan.
dwayne wade is from robins illinois. i have no idea where that is but i live like 20 minutes from downtown and ive never heard of robins. ud have to look on a map its no where near chicago i think haha. and KG is a PF he probably did like jordan but he was a power forward.
Wow Jordan is an Amazing athlete with tremendous body control. That's the difference between the two. Jordan's balance and footwork are better. Jordan doesn't fall to the ground after dunks like Iv'e seen Kobe. Kobe Is Insane don't get me wrong.
JORDAN really rules in the game of basketball. He is the first one to do the dazzling moves never been seen before. but in fairness to kobe he did a good job studying the moves of jordan and he has the only person on earth to really patterned his to Jordan.....hats off to both of them! Fu*k to all the haters!
- from a filipino point of view! PACMAN rules ( manny pacquiao pound for pound king
wow yall are ignorant. you just wanna nitpick his game. do you actually think that while kobe was getting double teamed on the baseline, he thought about doing a layup like jordan that jordan did 20years ago?? Lol no. he probably just did the first thing that came to his head that wouldnt get him blocked and it turned out to be like ONE of jordans layups that he did TWENTY FUCKING YEARS AGO..... lol you guys are soo nitpicky
true, kobe did copy and take alot of jordans move. But I just dont like when people nitpick. If you realy wanted to and you looked hard enough, i bet you could find a clip with lebron, vince, wade, tmac, etc.... doing this same move . But yea kobe did pattern his game off mj, not gonna lie
Hey! MJ is better than kobe! Look his ball closely. MJ round his ball around the ring. but, kobe's were V shaped. He's awsome but, MJ is better than his play, at least in this video.
not even close. mj had to go under 2 help defenders who jumped to block his shot after leaving his original defender and a possible double team behind. We've seen this video too many times to notice. mj exposed the ball high up over his head faking the 2 help defenders, brought it back down and up again for the reverse. clearly not the case on Kobe's move. still a good move, however. just not similar.
man u guys are funny you think micheal jordan didnt do and learn moves from past generations. what people like you dont understand is that to get better at basketball you have to look at the best in the past. kobe isn't tryin to copy jordan hes doing he things that he learned from watching players like jordan when he was a kid. or do you think that jordan just thought of all those moves by himself. jordan learned from players like david thompson, like julius erving, like jerry west.
This is the thing that I don't understand about these comparison videos. All of these great athletes had coaches who taught them fundamental moves. So when faced with similar defenses, they are obviously going to use the best offensive maneuver they know to escape and score.. I mean both Kobe and MJ were responding to the pressure that the defense put on them. Kobe didn't know they were doing the same move. He was simply reacting to the situation.
ya but kobe had the ball hit while he was goin up...he regained control of it and then put spin on it...he knew it was goin in...jordan just put it up there...
Kobe led Lakers got slaughtered in the Finals twice by Celtics and Mavericks.
MJ never lost in the Finals, period!

Wow Jordan is an Amazing athlete with tremendous body control. That's the difference between the two. Jordan's balance and footwork are better. Jordan doesn't fall to the ground after dunks like Iv'e seen Kobe. Kobe Is Insane don't get me wrong.

Damn, nice job that was very similar!
OK TO EVERYONE OUT THERE FORGET ALL OF THE HYPE AROUND PLAYERS TODAY!
MICHAEL JORDAN WAS, IS, AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER THAT ANYONE HAS EVER KNOWN, PERIOD!

LFMAO none of these two were even close to Dr's original Baseline move, you must be jocking...

Jordan doesn't have Kobe's footwork. Kobe has spectacular footwork. :) Probably the best in the world.

Pacman is the michael jordan of boxing
dimedropper1992 2 years ago
wow yall are ignorant. you just wanna nitpick his game. do you actually think that while kobe was getting double teamed on the baseline, he thought about doing a layup like jordan that jordan did 20years ago?? Lol no. he probably just did the first thing that came to his head that wouldnt get him blocked and it turned out to be like ONE of jordans layups that he did TWENTY FUCKING YEARS AGO..... lol you guys are soo nitpicky
kobe35ppg 2 years ago 53
lol...thats a good point bro....but i think kobe spent a great deal of time studying jordan...but much respect to both guys..two greats
BloodBoxing 2 years ago
true, kobe did copy and take alot of jordans move. But I just dont like when people nitpick. If you realy wanted to and you looked hard enough, i bet you could find a clip with lebron, vince, wade, tmac, etc.... doing this same move . But yea kobe did pattern his game off mj, not gonna lie
kobe35ppg 2 years ago
wow ... put a clip of me doing this too ... idiots .... theres not much else to do in that position
Mast3rShak3zilla 3 years ago 4
Hey! MJ is better than kobe! Look his ball closely. MJ round his ball around the ring. but, kobe's were V shaped. He's awsome but, MJ is better than his play, at least in this video.

yea kobe is a copy cat

this argumebt is silly....mj is the greatest....but by us arguing this point we just give kobe more props

WOW...I hate Kobe's guts, but he got that on target

history repeats itself ;) right?
radsibouasba 3 years ago 5
not even close. mj had to go under 2 help defenders who jumped to block his shot after leaving his original defender and a possible double team behind. We've seen this video too many times to notice. mj exposed the ball high up over his head faking the 2 help defenders, brought it back down and up again for the reverse. clearly not the case on Kobe's move. still a good move, however. just not similar.

Im taking about every move moron. Kobe tries to copy everything. Did jordan try to copy Dr j in everything no. Hes the first of his kind.
MJisKingKobesuckss 3 years ago
Jordan doesnt look like Dr j when he does his moves. Kobe tries hard as hell to look like MJ. Kobe will never be hahahaha
MJisKingKobesuckss 3 years ago
That's bull. Early MJ had all of Dr.J's moves down pat. Even the rock the cradle dunk.
JKFrazier 3 years ago
dude you just compared him to jordan.
BUT if you look at him as a player hes awsome.
drdeb0827 3 years ago
man u guys are funny you think micheal jordan didnt do and learn moves from past generations. what people like you dont understand is that to get better at basketball you have to look at the best in the past. kobe isn't tryin to copy jordan hes doing he things that he learned from watching players like jordan when he was a kid. or do you think that jordan just thought of all those moves by himself. jordan learned from players like david thompson, like julius erving, like jerry west.
armenianguy8 3 years ago 3
Its NOT the same move. Not saying Kobe can't do that, but from this clip that's not the case.
Ya'll need to learn how to observe properly.
andgar923 3 years ago
This is the thing that I don't understand about these comparison videos. All of these great athletes had coaches who taught them fundamental moves. So when faced with similar defenses, they are obviously going to use the best offensive maneuver they know to escape and score.. I mean both Kobe and MJ were responding to the pressure that the defense put on them. Kobe didn't know they were doing the same move. He was simply reacting to the situation.

dkouts97 kobe copied jordans moves but jordan copied dr j
