Sorry I can't seem to stop myself from commenting so much. But I wanted to also say how much I love Alan Alda's performance in this. From the first moment of his defence of his client he reminded me of Christopher Plummer's role in The Insider (similar concept only a male lead who puts everything at stake). I love how Albert unconditionally believed in her reasons for her silence. That might just have been one of the things that kept Rachel sane during her imprisonment.
. . . Rachel is made of resilience. Amazingly the info finds her, the one person whose heart can keep a secret for reasons bigger than professional ethics.
wow. I didn't see that end coming! Makes me think even more of Rachel, but with some mixed feeling. She keeps the word of a ten year old. Noble. But on the bus, there's simple engagement at first, then curiosity & before she knows it she has landed with solid material in her hand. My instinctual question was if there was some manipulation. Yet I feel that's how journalism is some times, not having been conciously on the look out for that groundbreaking piece of info you end up with . . .
It was the little girl? 3 years in prison for protecting a little girl. Society is fucked up.
