I love the song and clip. Thank you. I am reminded of when I met someone. That kiss. My heart still sings from it. So many years latter. Thank you. Waterloo Bridge is a wonderful movie.
@yangxindian He does not throw "it" away. It is a charm or amulette and in the beginning he goes back to the same place on Waterloo Bridge wher they first met. As he is standing there the movie goes back in time when he was young (before the war) and to when they met on the bridge. He thows away a cigarette. The charm is given him late on to remember her by something.
@yangxindian: This is my favorite movie. The thing was a token off good luck that the girl gave him when he was going to fight in WWI. Since then, things happened that altered his life. So, before setting out in WWII, we revisits where he met his love. It's a damn good movie.
Nothing to with japan but just human kindess at it's best, waterloo bridge I think was about allies going to fight gemans at the time, and saying goodbye was a bit heartbreaking.
@lilmimi24 I don't understand the question. Why would this be related to Japan? The movie takes place in London WW2 so since Japan was a big part of WW2 yes; it is related to Japan... But other than that I don't know. Please elaborate. Tell me what do you mean?
@anyu1941 In a manner of speaking it does relate to Japan. The song (without the lyrics) is played to signify closing time in many Japanese department stores.
I agree. For some reason (I have many-many versions of this song) I like this version the most. It is the combination of the tempo, music and the singer I think that makes this my favorite.
Sorry but I do not know the name of the singer... I would have credited the person as this is one of my favorite versions of it. If anyone happened to know please tell me! I can think of several singers that sounds very similar but I can not say for sure. I am quite sure that she is an American and not British or European but I could be wrong.
Thank you for your comment! I will be honest with you I am a sucker for old sounds. Love music from the 20s, 30s.40s.50s and 60s. The movies too If there was no acting and story line the movie did not make it-as special effects were nonexistent.
To be honest I am not sure. My records say it is Vivien Leigh, but I dont think it's correct. She is in the movie, and the song is also played in the movie, so most likely it is a mistake. I do know it is a very old version. Most likely its from the late 40s or early 50s. I liked it more than many others and that is why I used this one.
Thank You! It is a bit early, but Happy New Year to you as well. I love this song very much... I don't know why, but I want to hear it all the time. Somehow it's a bit sad, yet it cheers me up. And I LOVE B/W movies too.

I have also tried to find the identity of the singer without much success. Someone said it was a young Chinese woman, but I cannot verify even that.
