LMAO!! HOLY FUCK! My comment is on the top (the sdpadreslvr22 one) Except I forgot the password and can't get on it ): I remember I wrote that when me and my ex boyfriend broke up...wow can't believe that's been over a year ago. And now I'm back here listening to it and, seriously youtubers, the emotions are still there and so are the memories.
i have been listening to great singers/muscians for many years and even back to mozart and chopin and think feist is there for her genre up with them.. for rock music Dave Mattews is my favorite,, because, like feist,,they are both fun, but also serious and deep in there lyrics and there sound in performing them..thanks feist for being original and so enjoyable to listen to for long periods of time
my fiance left me. these lyrics are so true. the hardest part is remembering all the things we first did. where i first saw her, where we went on a date, our first kiss, our first dance. she was barefoot and i was still in my tux and we hated being at the dance so i went to a quiet parkinglot and put in a quiet song in the car and we danced alone together. it was silly, but i loved it, i loved her smile, her laugh, the way she made me feel when she looked at me. i wish i could forget.
@junglemonkeysex it would suck to forget such things tho, because such things are pretty amazing and beautiful and life has alot more meaning because of such things, even tho they always end
@FutureAbe i agree it does sound a little like Bjork. Their voices are completely different but it has that kinda Bjork beat and feel to it. Great song

someone should just let this song die, it's way too slow, boring and about the sort of stuff that ppl should be putting behind them , not dwelling over, How you going to let it die if u keep reminding yourself of your past by listening to this kinda stuff. Sounds like ppl don't really want to move on with their lives to me.
this was recommended to me as one of those "break-up songs" that a girl listens to when her entire world is torn apart. yeah, that'd be me. although i like the song and feist has a great voice, this is not a sad song. where is the pain? where is the desperation? where is her anger and tears? this is not a break-up song. this is a song of acceptance (which is great) but it feels like a mockery of a break-up, like she's singing about something she's never experienced before. i don't buy it.
@lmtwinkle see, for me this song perfectly summed up the end of my ten year marriage. perfectly. losing yourself in a relationship... being in a dead relationship for years... realizing your mistakes... so it fits for me. it's melancholic. fit for me. it's plaintive... let it die, get out of my head! at this point i am so exhausted with the pain of going through the break-up that all i want is for it to die already.
All these people saying the song doesn't have a hook... It has a hook! The song is just not named after the hook so if you're daft you can't pick it out. But, It would beautiful even if it didn't have a hook.
does anyone recall if this is the album version? It's been long since I've listened to the studio recording because I have a live performance that is so sensational I seldom listen to the other versions... This one sounds different than I remember though
It will never be the same as it was in the beginning, you will always look back on those moments and wish that you could go back. "After it blooms it can only die"
i love her slower songs. they make you feel like you and her are in a small room with large windows and they're fields outside the window and when she begins to sing you start to float and her lyrics are holding you up.
Perhaps you losers who think this is good music could start by watching, or listening to, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, even, God forbid, Chrissie Hynde, and, for sure, Patti Smith, on YouTube. Any one of those wildly diverse female artists make this Feist phony look very very dull and utterly unoriginal. Get yourselves an education, kiddies. Lots of good music before you were born. Very little made since.
your right about all that music you just listed. Feist; however, is different from all the other popular female pop music that's on the radio these days. I think she is an artist. Refreshing.
Really? Thanks Budd. Thats all great. Name some one thats exactly like feist. She worked to get where she is, and she writes he own music, and she's not like Britney or some one like that. She's not even highly publicized, there is so much music, but if people didn't listen to the people you listed while they were in their prime, how do you think you would know them today?
what if i were to tell you that im a fan of all those artist and still enjoy feist music?expand your horizon to another level. this is music not wrestling.nobody is the best.the point is to support each other to give listeners a better experience. Peace and Love.
Plenty of non-mainstream music has a "hook" because that's what good music has. Just like a good book has three stages with a satisfactory climax.
It's unfortunate your father climaxed though because now we have to put up with the drivel you write on Youtube.
Also, someone has to tell feist to stop dancing in her videos. She's the most ungraceful, awkward looking woman when she tries to dance. No one is doing her any favors if they're telling her she looks cute doing this.
Looks have nothing to do with anything--neither does dancing. And good music isn't defined by "hooks", and is actually a matter of opinion. So if you don't like Feist then you can just not comment on her videos and all of her fans will be grateful.
If this is your favorite song "everr" then you have sh*tty taste in music.
My experience with Feist: Great voice, sh*tty music. As with this song; no real hook and the trumpet(s) (or whatever instrument begins around the 2 minute mark) are completely unnecessary and go against the smooth flow of the song.
After listening to over a dozen of her songs the only worthwhile ones have been "1234" and "I feel it all".
I love her voice & the raw emotion this song brings with it.
1234-it's a predictable tune, easily sung and composed. Because a song has 'no real hook' doesn't mean its a shit song, just means it suits those with a simpler mindset and unnappreciative taste in unique, original music.
According to you I have shit taste in music, however it seems you have a shit personality; criticising another persons music taste with nothing substantial to back it up, just because the song isn't catchy.
I agree, though not so much with the personality part, but just because trumpets come in and in your opinion take away from the music doesn't mean you can classify it as shitty music for everyone else. I personally think the trumpets add a beautiful jazzy touch. In conclusion, if you don't have anything substantial to say, don't say anything at all.
The trumpets are like adding a slap-stick joke in the middle of a serious drama. Honestly, they suck and so does your mommy-maxim of , "if you don't have anything nice to say keep it to yourself." Oh, except you said 'substantial' instead of 'nice'. You're so smart...
