  • This isn't Enya, it's Moya (Máire). If you go to Moyas website - Click Enter This Site, then go to Music section, and click collabrations. You'll see Both Sides Now.

  • only one word .... beautiful

  • This is the best cover of this the song.

  • heard this the other day as I was waking up from sleeping in the TV room. The movie Switch was starting, and this song just gave me goose bumps. So hauntingly beautiful!!!

  • A wonderful interpretation / interpretation of this song.

    IMO ---- the best.

  • This isnt Enya, it's Maire (Moya). Enya left in early 80s :)

  • She played at my cousins funeral in 2008 . She sang a solo in Irish and played the harp ..A modest woman I reckon. ,

  • This is an amazing song and this is the best version of it ever done.

  • Nice version.... Best version is still the Cleo Laine version, but good luck finding it anywhere on-line these days....

  • fricken crying....

  • Awesome version! Thanks!

  • Enya makes this song what it is - magic

  • @darrenmaccann1 OOOoOOO It isn't Enya, it's her sister Maire Brennan.

  • @CoolZiggy Nope - its definitely Enya

  • @darrenmaccann1 Nope

  • @CoolZiggy Nope, it's Maire. Enya left Clannad in the early eighties.

  • so beautiful

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs ever made, paul young has the most unique voice and with clannads haunting voice they compliment such wonderful lyrics and music

  • This is the only song that actually made me cry. I first heard it from Paul Anka. This is a beautiful song.

  • such a powerful song!!!

  • I remember breaking up with my first true girlfriend - this was the song that this sad kid used to cry myself to sleep with! That was twenty years ago! I feel so old LOL!!! What a song, though. Stands up to the modern songs of late! A classic

  • I have to be honest, this version is more beautiful than all the other versions of Both Sides Now

  • ohhhhhhh

    I feel like flying......

  • I'm a 45 year old child myself;)) 46 the end of this week.

  • I cried at the end of Switch because of this song. I was 15 and CONVINCED that I experienced a piece of heaven. It's like blue sky and clouds with the lyrics softly written in white. I never forgot that feeling.

Also, if you listen to the track all the way to the very end you can hear Clannad softly cooing as if lulling a baby to sleep but really reassuring us! Honest and loving with a happy ending to everyone's story. It almost makes this life make sense.

  • I remember hearing this when I saw Blake Edwards' "Switch." To this day, every time I hear this song, I think of heaven. No song has ever FELT that way to me and it's one of the pieces which inspired me to take up music again.

I think I've found another piece of God.

  • My God! I am so in love with this song, it is the best song I have found. I have been in a rut with searching for great love songs and this is the greatest I have found, it has an actual poem for lyrices.

  • Have always loved both these performances. What a tender, moving performance.

  • so beautiful,love it xo.

  • This song works best as a duet in my opinion , a classic..

  • I have been looking for this version. Its my favorite version of this song. I love Clannad and Paul Young did this song so good

  • Paul Young did a fantastic work on this song....however this song is written and sung by our own Julio Bernardo Euson back in 1971...no one ever sung it better than him.....we would really love to have you on your island Aruba again for at least one concert... it would be a dream come true.....bin deleita nos cu bo voz...nos ta semper cu bo.....

  • i think this is the nicest version

  • this song reminds my high school days....tanx for posting......so great!

  • Paul Young is a great interpreter of songs and has a vast back catalogue of wonderful music, but this is one of his best. The voices combine sublimely ,the lyrics are meaningful. I would have thought that Paul Young will look back on this as musically one of his finest accomplishments. It should have been a number one hit single, but there is no accounting for taste.

  • Stunning and hauting song. Thanks for the vid. Moire's voice works so well with Paul's. Great duet and thanks for sharing.

  • " If you're going to make me cry, at least be there to wipe away the tears."

  • and this is where it all started.

  • Thanks for this video! Funny that it made such an impact when I first heard it on the movie...then somehow forgot about it. But now I remember...this is such a beautiful cover of the song.

Isn't the lady Enya back when she was still in a group with her family- Clannad?

  • The lady is not Enya but Máire (or Moya) , another Brennan.

  • Thank the Good Lord that at one time I was only recalling illusions but thanks to Him I now know life and love.

    Praise be to Jesus

  • lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oyeah =) makes me hope

  • Superb!

  • So that's what the Irish and English can do when they team up... Amazing ..

  • thanks. i've always wanted a copy of this version since i heard it from 'switch'.

  • who sings this version?

    its beautiful!!

  • It is Paul Young 1991 in a duet with Clannad, taken from the film 'Switch'

  • not many songs make me weepy I am not a usually very sensitive person but this is one song that reminds me of my childhood and, not to be too dramatic makes me feel like a vulnerable child (I am 45) this probably sounds silly and make no sense but I am typing exactly what this song brings out of me. "Try to Remember" is another one and strangely Pachabels "Canon"

  • roger whitakker takes the cake....amazing

  • don't feel like a sap saying that. i totally know how you feel and what you are trying to say.. i'm 37 and there are certain song that make me ache and think of all the years gone by. and really miss that carefree childhood. another one that always made me feel that way was Taylor Dane, "love will lead you back". try it out.. good post

  • @tonytiger1964 I know exactly how you feel take care ;)

  • @tonytiger1964 , I guess you are a romantic, just like me. I love this song and Pachabels " Canon was my wedding song, but the song that truly empitamizes me is, Too much Love will kill me by Brian May.

  • @tonytiger1964 The are two songs that I have liked through out my life and that remind me of when I was innocent The first is Both Sides Now (Judy Collins cover) and Pachabel's Canon. I am now sixteen and I recently opened an eleven year old time capsule. It had been made for the new millennium when I was still four. It was meant to be opened last year on my birthday but it had been forgotten about. In it there was a packet with questions. One was what my favorite song was: Both Sides Now.

  • @tonytiger1964 46 here tony and I have always felt the same about this version.

  • @tonytiger1964 This song makes me blubber every time. It's just got something about it. I'm 40 and a 70's a child. Makes you remember how simple life really used to be, :-( Makes you want to go straight back doesn't it? Although I was a fan of Paul Young in my teens, my favourite version is the Glen Campbell version.

  • @tonytiger1964 I feel exactly the same way. It;s impossible to hear this witout being a child again; I'm 45 now and the song has layers of meanings which were lost to me when I heard it as a child on the radio, doodling in my sketchbook. But the memories it evokes are sweet ones. So there you go ...

  • Sublime!

A truly wonderful version of Joni Mitchell's 1969 classic.

I am old enough to remember the original and even now, 40 years later, I really don't know clouds at all.

  • Yes Karlulin you have absoultley right!

  • Beautiful video! Lovely song! Amazing voices!!!

  • A very fine interpretation of a great song. I prefer Judy Collins - but only because it was the first version I heard at a particularly bitter-sweet time in my life.

  • Joni Mitchells updated version is best I have ever heard. The version used in Love Actually. Check it out.

  • The lady singing this looks alot like & sounds alot like, Enya. Real pretty song!!! Kudos for this rendicion.:)) Ed

  • She's actually Enya's sister

  • Well she should look like Enya. It is her sister. Enya is also a sometime member of clannad.

  • just as i thought. thanks for reminding me of this bit.

  • You have good taste in music.

  • love this song! since i listened to his album when i was 13! im 32 now! still love it! sad hey.

  • Великолепная версия прекрасной песни. Хрустальная.

    Спасибо.

  • A truly wonderful song i use to have this on video.

Paul Young apparently had a cold whilst filming the video, what a trooper.Senza una donna and heaven can wait are real classics too.

  • do you have site or url where to watch the movie switch?

  • i discover this song at the end of the movie SWITCH and i love it so much!

  • This is heaven! Maybe the ultimate lovesongs ever. When I die this will be my hymn to the world.

  • the best version of this tune

  • Please do that! Repect for others opinion, have you ever heard of that? Take a long drive in your car, for Gods sake.

  • OK! Your in title to your opinion, sorry to say this, you should slept on the wheel so we could heard in in the chappel.

  • That comment made no sense for sure

  • I understand you are here to spread your negativitet and jus fuck up others opinion. Do that make sense for you, stupid idiot!

  • Do you feel happy with your hate?

Take a paint of beer and be happy!

Admit, this is a wonderfull version of "Botht sides now".

  • I admit it, no problem. This is my all-time favorite version. It leaves Joni lacking.

  • You are right, my friend. Have been away for awile, maybe I was to harsh. Sorry if my opinion was a little too much, was in a complete love and leave-situation, much feelings, and not so thoughtfull.

  • Pure brilliance. I feel like I am at the pearly gates every time I hear this. It worked wonderfully with the film "Switch" at the beginning with the cloud shots AND the during the end sequence with the matte painting of NYC (thank you ILM!).

Both film and this arrangement/performance are HIGHLY overlooked/underrated.

  • Maybe the biggest masterpiece of all time. This is higher then heaven!

  • Biggest masterpiece of all time?

Abviously you haven't heard much music in your days

  • Maybe I was in a state of sorrow or perhaps I really love this version. What do you think? As 50 years old I probebly have heard more music 15 years before you where born. Yes, Joni Mitchell is the master of this, and there have been several cover that's more than good, but please let me love this one, ok?

  • I'm with you here. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever sang. I love the duet on it and the instrumentation. This is the best version of this song, period.

Bette Midler also does the best version of 'From A Distance'.

  • its awesome!

  • This song seems exclusive to great musicians and singers, but I still think Judy Collins is ahead of the pack on this song! She also sings it in the best key.

  • Truly amazing & beautiful. Enya and Paul are both so gifted and have produced such incredible music .. This made the movie Switch...

  • This isn't Enya, but her sister Maire...

  • what a beautiful duet , what a awesome song.....i love it:

  • beautiful song, sung beautifully by two great singers. can't believe this song was not a no. 1 in the charts.

    paul young rules!!

  • Their voices blend beautifully together, paul sounds really sexy singing this.

  • OOo and PS , Skip the Dolly Parton version ifyou have Any taste at all ! also skip Mary Hopkin's

  • too late, i had the misfortune. thanks anyway.

  • This is my favorite version of this song !

Altough i like Joni Mitchell's also very much ( and then i mean the newer, slower version !!)

BUT the version of Euson is a close 2nd !!!

    Listen to that one !

  • I agree. Its perfection. Both have beautiful voices.

  • Have a listen to Roger Whittaker's version as well...just as beautiful even though I am a PY fan since the '80s!!

  • I heard this song on the radio back in 1994 just once and it never left my mind. Now thanks to you I've re-discovered it. Thank you very much. This is such a beautiful version.

  • Thanks for sharing this song!

  • Respected Paul, all the compliments for your and Moya's excellent cover on Joni Mitchell's song! The two of you gave new emotional strength to the original version of the song. I even remember your version as the first one, the one which followed me through all of my childhood. Thank you both for being very important (musical) part of my life as artists, all over the eighties and into nineties... and even today. Great Thanks to Joni, of course, too... From one common guy born in 1975.

  • This is my favorite version of this song and i enjoyed it as an edition to the movie Switch.

  • Lovely duet remake of the original is beautifully sung by both Young and Brennan and was definitely too good of a song for Switch. Thanks for posting.
