@bristowboy20 There was still a funnel cloud, you can see it after the 4:00 minute mark. It is very narrow and stretching down from the storm cloud above the water that is being picked up by the wind. I don't know if you're possibly getting mixed up with the fact that a funnel cloud is not a tornado or waterspout unless it is on the ground or water. But a tornado or waterspout will usually have a funnel cloud about 99% of the time. It's around 1% of them that have no condensation funnel at all.

@Torn80cj Im referring to the fact that they called it a funnel cloud. In meteorology a funnel cloud is a rotating condensation funnel that is not in contact with the ground at all. This is in contact with the surface even though the condensation funnel isnt visible at the surface. Man if someone told me they saw a funnel cloud heading towards my house and it was actually a tornado on the ground, I would assume it was in the air and not on the ground.

For instance I saw a video of a dangerous cottonmouth on here that someone called a harmless water snake. That could get someone put in the hospital or killed if they assumed the cottonmouth was harmless and decided to try and catch it. A funnel cloud is relatively harmless. Funnel clouds happen more often than tornadoes. It could get someone hurt by saying its just a funnel cloud.

@bristowboy20 I wouldn't do that if I was you, anytime someone says funnel cloud and it's coming at you, you might as well treat it as a tornado coming at you. I have seen what spotters would relay as a funnel cloud, and it turns out that it is actually a tornado on the ground. A good rule of thumb is that if the funnel cloud is 1/3 of the way down, it is most likely on the ground even though no dust is visible yet. I chase and film tornadoes in Tornado Alley, and I have seen this happen.

Not a tornado. It was a waterspout. They are NOT the same thing. Youtube has vids on tornado simulators, which produce the same conditions as a waterspout. The difference is, a tornado comes from a supercell thunderstorm. A waterspout comes from a rising column of air which is intersected by a shearing wind, which gives it rotation. In a super cell, the entire storm rotates. Here, only that small portion of that area rotates. Take the shear wind away, Water spout go bye-bye...

That's not accurate. A tornado doesn't have to come from a supercell thunderstorm or even from a Mesocyclone. A tornado is defined by the NWS as "a violently rotating column of air in contact with the ground and extending from the base of a thunderstorm". While some do form from mesocyclones and some don't, waterspouts are tornadoes over water. A waterspout over land is called a "landspout" or "dust tube tornado", yet is still classified as a tornado just as a waterspout is.
