Isn't there a third way to play it (replacing the b string 1 fret note) using the G string 5 fret note? Does Randy play it like you just showed us in the video? Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the video immensely and just want to get a thorough understanding of how to play this lick.

@Greyswyndir No problem man!! :) There are many differents ways to play this lick (yours is correct too). Actually I can think more than 5 hahaha No idea if Randy played it in this way.
When you play a lick, there are some more convenient ways to do it, but you should try to use the more comfortable for you. I prefer to play this lick alone in 1st position and using legato and open strings. Inside the riff I prefer to start at 3th-position and slide to 1st-position. Hope it helps.
