i love that the race is still going. allthese states get a voice who havnt had one for decades. the only ones who think this longer process is a bad idea is the media who question it that way and the rnc who spins it that way.
On May 20, Kentucky and Oregon will have a say in who the next president of this nation will be. Please remember to get out and vote if you live in one of these states. Americans deserve a president that can get the job done, and that's obviously not McCain or Obama. For our country, for our kids. Hillary can still save this nation.
Just since when the Dem Party has stooped itself so low that it would emulate the Republicans' nonsense in 2000 by DENYING MILLIONS OF VOTERS' VOICE FOR HILLARY IN MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA? The number is 2210 and the race ain't over until these two states are fully accounted for! And the winner will be Hillary Rodham Clinton!!
Obama will seal the deal in Oregon, not that it matters. Obama has already won the democrat nomination. He won Wisconsin and Iowa and will win Oregon just as easily. Hillary who???
hast he been publicly quoted sayin that he is against the pull out... I support obama.. but my worst fear is that he woult come throw with all the talk... or that he works for the vote and not sociaty.... I live in Oregon and he is supposed to be comming like couple streets down from my house /Gresham a city outside of portland/ I would like to be there thats good that he may be taking time and effort to speak to smaller citys in U.S. America
Florida is full of reactionary Cubans, who ran away from their country because Castro brought universal health care, universal education and racial tolerance. If they have a revolt, Hillary will surely win Florida, but who the hell believes that she can win Michigan in a FAIR ELECTION. That's Motown country baby, full of socially conscious no bullshit playing Blacks. Obama would kick Hillary's ass in Michigan and win a major upset! So if I were here I'd let sleeping dogs lay.
Well let the voters decide. I think that the Obama campaign decided to remove Obama's name from the Michigan ballot cause they thought it was an opportunity to not have to be ridiculed in that state. But I wouldn't know what the actual public opinion would be in Michigan. And let them vote last together with Florida, who cares if they would be the last state to vote, let them vote, this race is much too close, Michigan is 155 delegates + Michigan superdelegates.
Jesus Christ, what part of MI broke party rules and all the candidates(Edwards, Richardson, Edwards, and yes CLinton) agreed to have their taken off the ballots for the election. CLinton at the last minute left her name on the ballot and now claims a phony victory. Why is it so hard to put your bias aside and put A and B together?
Most of the Hillary Clinton supporters that define themselves to be passionnate about politics most probably will vote for Obama. The problem is to attract the vast majority of the white middle class out there. Democrats need to convince all those people that usually vote Republican, and Hillary Clinton would be better at this. I think it's mostly cause what she says makes sense and when Obama talks it's not totally convincing. Basically if you put Obama vs McCain in a comedy dual, McCain wins.
The Presidential election can't just be a win by the Democrats. It has to be a LANDSLIDE, otherwise it gives the Republicans a chance to steal the election for the third straight time.
It's time to really start looking at what is happening here. Hillary Clinton is going to try and steal the peoples voice and hijack the system. There will be hell to pay if these war mongers hijack this country again! We the people must reject this and unite as patriots to prevent the theft of America. The time is closing in. Be ready to fight a long and tough battle!
It's actually been Obama supporters who have been trying to steal the primary for months now saying that the race was over. It's not over. And you need to count Michigan and Florida.
Please explain to the people how you come to that conclusion! Math? Votes? Delegates? THE ONLY WAY FOR HILLARY TO GET THE NOM IS TO OVER RIDE THE PEOPLES VOTES! Charbax please tell us all how Hillary can win with out stealing it? Hillary has been exposed for the liar war monger she is! O V E R
Charbax, Was hillary lying when she agreed to have Michigan's primary not count in 2007? Is she lying now when she says it should. Or is the more plausible answer that she is political opportunist with no actual concern about having the votes count only her own benefit.
Nobody agreed Michigan and Florida shouldn't count. Nobody expected the vote to be this close. You Obama maniacs should stop acting like George Bush in 2000, sneaky antidemocratic tactics are not going to be accepted especially in case Obama were to be nominated and loose just like John Kerry did.
Obama supporters will stop at nothing to get their candidate nominated. It really makes you question who the "common enemy" is. Would 8 more years of McCain be much worse than another candidate who stole his way to the presidency?
You are a Hillary Shill attack spam account. Nothing more. You offer no facts, no reality, & spin for Hillary. Obama will be the nominee. Asking other Democrats to vote McSame goes against being a Democrat. If you vote the issues, our pocketbook, & policy, you'd support Obama. "Nobody agreed Michigan and Florida shouldn't count."
Actually, all candidates accept the DNC rules when candidating themselves. So they agreed. it's jsut that hillary changed her mind when she saw it was getting close.
Do you really think we should count votes from states where obama wasn't even on the ballot?
Or are you suggesting a revote in michigan and florida?
Sure I think a re-vote would be the best way to make everyone happy, and really put stronger legitimity behind the nominee. But Hillary says the Obama campaign has refused a re-vote in Michigan (I don't know about Florida), I don't know what the exact details are. But if Obama continues not to think it is fair that there to be a re-vote, then I think obviously all the Michigan delegates should go to Hillary, cause she didn't remove her name from the ballot.
If it was so unfair not to have michigan and florida count, then someone should have complained BEFORE the elections started.
Hillary certainly didn't.
Did you?
The DNC representatives for florida and michigan could have just asked for an election, and they would have had it. No one seems to be criticising them.
It's not obama's fault if those states don't count. He's just following the rules that everyone agreed on before hand and encouraging hillary not to cheat either.
being from Florida, I am aware that the Florida House(republican control) passed the bill that moved the primary date which broke party rules. Some Dems did vote for it because it was linked to with law to make paper records required with electronic voting machines...this was something that dems could not against [esp. after what happened with district 13 the most expensive (stolen) congressional election in history] **look it up before you blame it Florida democrates
Nobody can just like "guess" what the Michigan results would have been and negotiate somekind of compromise on the amount of delegates that should come out of Michigan to each camp. That would be totally ridiculous considering Michigan is 155 delegates and that's about the difference between Obama and Hillary's current delegate count excluding Michigan and Florida. So if Obama doesn't want to let the superdelegates decide who should be the nominee, he should publicly say he's ok with re-vote.
The problem is that if michigan and florida count, then the vote is also rigged.
It seems quite clear to me that if Hillary were winning, she wouldn't ask for those states to count.
They agreed that the states wouldn't count. Why the DNC leaves some states out, I don't know. I don't think they should.
But those were the rules at the start of the race. Giving one candidate a chance to change the rules depending on their results introduces a statistical bias in their favour.
The meaning of them not counting was cause DNC did not want thosestatex to influence th other states which early states usually do. But nobody at the DNC thougt the race would be so close and that the states would actually possibly determine the winner. A democratic primary hasn't been so close since 1968, when the superdelegates were invented.
It seems like a valid reason to disqualify them acording to me.
Late states are generally unimportant, wherease early states make a huge difference (usually more-so when there's a lot of medium candidates).
The DNC can't just let states hold elections whenever they want, or everyone would end up starting 2 months early.
It doesn't matter that the race is close, the only possible reson for revote is a MORAL one. But Hillary didn't think it was undemocratic to not make them count back then...
Well taking the correct moral decision is what the re-vote would be all about. I don't think it would be totally fair that Obama get 0 delegates out of Michigan, cause the decision to remove his name from the ballot might not have been his own but from his campaign manager or something. So I think the most morally fair thing to do is to push for a re-vote in Michigan and Florida. What's wrong with letting them decide who should get their 368 delegates.
I think that a revote would be an acceptable solution (wherease counting the delegates without a revote would be anti-democratic in every possible way).
But I'm still of the opinion that when you have a race, and everyone agrees on the rules, no one should be alowed to change the rules mid-way, and that the florida democratic leaders who wanted to have early election should take the blame.
But on the other hand, the registered democrats in those states should have a right to vore.
Paulginz that is in fact the most unDemocratic view you could have possibly come up with. Considering the Democratic party is founded on DISSENT, and enfranchising those who are disenfranchised, the behavior of the DNC has been reprehensible.
Anyway, I agree that the DNC shouldn't have hit back at michigan and florida so hard.
The point however is that it's been done. That's what the DNC (righteously or not) decided with both hillary and obama's agreement.
It's a bit like the war in Iraq... the US should've never gone there, but now they can't just withdraw in a month or there'll be a full-blown civil war.
Oh. I checked. And the DNC decided to disqualify michigan and florida because they held their elections before the beginning of the primaries. (And they had been warned it would happen.)
Hillary wrote to the DNC saying that she supported the decision.
In fact, one of her campaign aids voted at the DNC in favour of the resolution.
She only changed her mind AFTER the results of michigan came out.
So, I think that if the votes count, that would be just plain cheating.
Are you really that uninformed or are you just a hack? MI and FL didn't count in THIS nominating process because they broke the DNC rules by moving their primaries ahead. Terry Mccauliffe, Howard wolfson, and Hillary CLinton reconized this and signed off on it. Actually, when Terry Mccauliffe was the DNC chairman he faced this issue before and specifically stated that if any state dares to move their primary up, they would be striped of their delegates.
Wow. You're obviously one of the dip shit morons who watches Keith Olberman, and Chris Mathews, then maybe some Jon Stuart, along with some Obama Kool-Aid at the end of the night, and thinks that they're well informed. The DNC rules state HALF the delegation should be stripped. The REPUBLICANS got this right. Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi don't want to count FL and MI because they want Barack Obama to be president. Are you really that naive, or do you just hate voters' rights?
If the DNC cared about voter's rights, why do they have "Superdeligates"?
However, I completely agree with your view of stripping away the delegates in the first place. It just goes to show that this aint the same Democratic party from 20 years ago.
The DNC has super delegates so superficial money laden morons like Barack Obama can't come in and high jack the party with a bunch of red states and niche voting blocks.
Interesting, so you're saying that "niche voters"--aka minority groups, don't have a constitutional right to equal representation? I'm not sure who you support as I haven't read all of your posts, but something tells me that you're letting your preference--Clinton?--interfere with your reason. What you just said is pretty much un-American, and goes against the principles of a free and equal society. Good job?
Keith Olberman, chris Mathews, and jon Stewart unlike you and other Clinton loyalists actually live in reality and base their opinions on little things called FACTS.
The DNC rules DON'T state that half of the delegates should be stripped. The rules of stripping the delegates of states that break primary rules were supported by McCauliffe, WOlfson, and CLinton- until she started losing. Even if you were to seat the delegates fully, she still CANNOT reach Obama in the delegate math. What happened with MI and FL was not the fault of the voters but the party leaders in those states. Pull your head out of Clinton's ass and join the rest of us in reality, jackass.
How did Hillary brake the pledge not to campaign in Michigan?
Michigan and Florida delegates were said to have been removed ONLY with the purpose of not having those states vote early and thus somehow influence the rest of the race. (kind of like current Obama lead excluding Florida and Michigan pushes some media outlets to constantly say Obama has won and that the race is over).
But you have to look at it simply from a democratic standpoint, what is fair, what is democratic. Everyone vote.
No one who supports Democratic values is going to support Senator Obama. But if he were asking for a revote-if not at least for the delegates to be seated, and Hillary blocked it-I would criticize Hillary's maneuvering, and support Obama's suppoort for voters rights. Unfortunately, we live in a reality where Obama recognizes Kansas before Michigan-and a caucuses before primaries.
Stealing Michigan and Florida? Seriously, you cannot just disregard Michigan and Florida. DNC rules matter less then what the American people think is democratic. You can't have Obama win by a margin of 2% of the delegates when Michigan and Florida accounts for 9% of the US population, and when Obama has got several Caucus states that were won by organized Obama grassroots intimidation.
Hillary and Obama have got about the same amount of votes. look it up. Hillary's votes though proves that she is better suited at beating John McCain. Young people and black people will vote for Hillary Clinton anyways, while old white people aren't necessarilly going to vote for Obama.
You may be right. Recent Polls show Obama is leading McCain. So perhaps the long campaign didn't hurt Obama after all.

Even if you were to seat the delegates fully, she still CANNOT reach Obama in the delegate math. What happened with MI and FL was not the fault of the voters but the party leaders in those states. Pull your head out of Clinton's ass and join the rest of us in reality, jackass.

"Its actually not stated in the rules Paulginz, that Florida in Michigan don't count in the nominating process."
It was.
The DNC said that if they voted early, they would lose their delegates. So when they insisted, there was a vote, and they lost their delegates.
So yes, the rules stipulated by the DNC for this year's election were that they didn't count.
"Barack Obama broke the pledge not to campaign in Florida."
Hillary too. But yeah, he shouldn't have, I agree.

I agree the race is not over, untill obama has a mathematically certain advantage.
What's democratic is one thing.
What's fair is another.
I get the impression that if it were obama who were asking for a revote after he agreed the state didn't count, you wouldn't support him.

Since George Bush took office, the US Dollar has lost half its value against the Euro while the annual trade deficit doubled.
We cannot afford four more years of Cheney/Bush economics under John McCain.

Obama will take Oregon and the entire Northwest by a healthy bitchslap. I mean margin.
I'm TormentedByDemons and I approve this prediction.
