  • Extremely talented 11 year old singer. I can't wait to hear her when she is in her mid 20's with more maturity and life experience. I know that I'm a little late to the party. Probably when this was posted she was the best 11 year old singer back in 2007. Jackie has taken that crown.

  • it breaks my heart to see teachers ruining young singers' voices in this manner. Her vocal instrument is NOT developed enough to be singing this...not to mention she cannot put any meaning into the music, since she dreams of unicorns and puppies, like all children.

BTW, I'm a music teacher and a vocal major.

  • what a bad show!

  • jakie evancho is only 9

  • This is a VERY talented young lady. But please parents and teacher...don't push her too hard or too fast. Children really should NOT be singing opera at this age. She manages it quite well tho...

  • Hell that was good

  • this is awesome, my mouth couldnt close up, i was -O-

  • Great voice, you need more voice support. Talk tou your teacher, otherwise your voice is absolutely fab

  • @voicemad She has great breath support, you are just being a hater and don't know what you are talking about. So the jumps are not perfect, there are plenty of adults out there who mess up too. This is a quality voice. Whoever her teacher is, they know how to teach bel canto style. Its nice to see youngsters singing good music. Brava. I wish her luck.

  • @ykaiilah. I agree with you on nearly everything about this wonderful young singer, I've just heard her recent stuff and her voice support has improved enormously. I was only trying to be constructive when I wrote what I did. I also wish her luck.

  • I'm 19 and I wish I could sing like her! :O

  • Wow.

  • No....

  • @operadiva023

    You are such a hater.

    - Ashe <3

  • @Ashestoashesjc No....

  • So good that she didn't take the high E here. She stopped where her voice was more comfortable. Wise teacher.

  • This is the ONLY child I've ever heard that is actually good at opera!

    Well done.

  • To all the criticasters: That is what they all said about the 12 year old Anja Silja too. She is now 69 and still rocks the globe with her so called endangered vocal coach. You can hear this girl is being trained well and I hear a lot less stress in this voice than with a lot of singers that have perhaps more matured chords but a less good technique. Not worried at all by what this girl does!

  • ооочень классно!!

  • beautiful voice!

  • I just worry about her voice. There is a reason why most music conservatories won't teach singers under 15 - stretching your chords at that young especially to hit such high notes can cause irreparable damage to a young voice. However, she does sound phenomenal:)

  • Thereś a children opera in my country and never heard about a child with damaged voicebox.

  • wow so good

  • what a voices

  • Катя, ты супер!

не слушай других, многие от того, что у них нет ни грамма таланта, могут от зависти и злости написать все что угодно.

  • Молодец, Катя.

  • Bravo. That was great. Cant wait to hear what she sounds like at 15.

  • She's good but I'm better! :) Lol I'm kidding! She's good but she can't sing it with a more mature voice. She sounds like a kid then she sings the strong notes with a mature voice. Keep trying!

  • wonderful! keep it up girl..

  • the high notes are forced.. overall, clarity isn't a problem, but if you look at her face, there's no expression. I even wonder if she knows what she's singing about.

  • she has a really great voice but strauss is a little much for age. But she totally owns friggin Aria tesolin who in my opinion is the biggest disgrace to the opera world of all time.

  • okay for all of you critics still going crazy about her at age 11 check her out singing the exact same song when she is 12. go to "More From: Ambertrin" look for her singing the laughing song when she is 12 then pick on her. say she won't have a voice later on. say she's singing from her throat. dust off your books people the world is changing.

  • It is obvious to me she is singing from her throat which is very taxing on a singer of any age. I would be very careful with a singer this age. There are certain things that can be done healthily to help her progress but singing arias that were not intended for the young singer is not one of them.

  • During the 70s I was in a huge youth choir where seniors ranged from 12 upwards. We had strict voice tuition and many of us were soloists. Our repertoire included arias and other classical pieces. There were no microphones and our solo voices were strong enough to be heard in the massive City Halls where our concerts were held. At a recent 50th anniversray of the choir, it was amazing how many had gone on to sing professionally, mainly in opera. I am still singing at the age of 54.

  • she is too young to sing this. she may be able to physically go that high, but she will seriously mess her voice up for when she's older. if she carries on the way, she'll have nodules on her throat by the time she is 20. very sad story this one is.

  • @MissMollyJH She has excellent technique. No nodes in her future.

  • @MissMollyJH You can check out her progress by the way, her name is Ekaterina Shelehova and there are more videos. She is sounding fantastic without your ignorant peanut gallery advice.

  • PEOPLE, the younger voice has more natural range in all registers than the older! The lack of flexibility when the voice gets older, as well as experience in age, causes many singers to find their mix voice when they are older... this is the reason for some wrongly thinking that there is a greater flexibility or more range "development" in an older voice. Young girls singing high, with good technique, will be finding their mix earlier and safer, and be shaping their future voices for greatness!

  • @okebaram Your comment has some holes....the voice has a higher range when it's younger for the simple reason that the vocal chords are smaller...that doesn't mean singing constantly up there is appropriate. The ability to do so in a healthy way does come with age. It's a bell curve - of course when the voice gets much older it loses flexibility as does any muscle. But there's a reason that the traditions of classical voice have been around and have worked for hundreds of years.

  • @peduzzi89 BUT the voice is well developed, safe and stable enough to be used to the implied extent at this age. It is not some very weak, fragile thing waiting to be destroyed by this level of appropriate usage: therein lies the myth or lack of balanced perception. What classica traditions? Other traditions have ***apparently*** worked for years too. I'm not knocking down any tradition, classcial traditions are insightful from years of knowledge! But natural vocal process has its own credit

  • @MissMollyJH Agreed! There's a video on here of her singing VERDI at 12!

  • She has a lovely high range but when she hit some little low notes she sounds her age... Her voice sounds a bit mature... But when she sings around middle c or below she sounds like an eleven year old. She doesn't have much control over her voice yet which is normal...

  • WOW

she is really good for 11! i hope they let her develope naturally and she is not pushed because she has so much talent!

  • I'm really tired of people saying that singing certain songs will leave her without a voice later in life.

Improper CARE of the voice leaves on without it. If she properly warms up and warms down, sings from the diaphragm and doesnt push her voice where it doesn't willingly go, then why would her voice be ruined??

  • It doesn't matter if a young voice sounds like it has great technique...technique that can sing such a song. It is a matter of how mature a voice is. Her voice may SOUND mature, but it is not at the stage where she should be singing this.

  • This goes up to a top D... Wow...

She totally loses time at the end..

  • the tiara is sooooooo out of place!!!

  • i saw lots version of this song but now i like hers better lol good work! keep it up but make sure u have fun =]

  • she is so much better than Aria Tesolin who claims to be the best ever. Oh man, she totally crushes her

  • this was pretty but i would not have selected this song or any song like it for such a young voice. i did my first aria at 14(rejoice greatly o daughter of zion - handel) and it was pretty difficult. since you are probably 13 or somthing now i think you should try rejoice greatly if you havent already because it would sound great coming from you. :)

  • beautiful voice, but when she reaches age 30 her voice is going to be ruined. I can't believe her teacher gave her this to sing.

  • I completely disagree. I think people discourage younger people from singing serious opera because they are embarassed to be shown up by younger people. A high C is a high C whether in an aria or an art song.

  • I don't mean in an insulting way, but you must not know much about opera,or classical singing. Kids literally cannot not sing Opera. They can sing arias with microphones and recordings but most would rather hear a completely informed, developed, and great artist perform over full orchestra. In opera many voice types don't sing the famous "high c" and high c's aren't the money notes for every tenor or soprano. The higher singer isn't always the better singer.

  • I agree completely. But about children not being able to sing opera... What about a prodigy? That is always possible, correct? Although they are very rare? I'm just asking a question... : )

  • Just to clarify, when I think of a child prodigy, I think of a child that can be compare to HIGHLY skilled adults in the same field. Mozart, Madori, Micheal Phelps, Michael Jackson, Marvin Hamlisch and I'm sure there are more.

No child compares to the skilled adults in Opera. That's why child opera stars don't exsist. It's one thing to show potential but to be competitive in the field of Opera at an age younger than 22 you have to have great genetics, training, luck, or/and all three.

  • and art songs normally don't have high C's.

  • @antha97 Even earlier :-( Poor kid is forced to sing opera because of her ambitious parents and techer. Let her live and sing compositions according to her age, for Heaven's sake!!!

  • the high notes arent strained. This is a talented girl. We hate hearing young singers because most kids make bad habits tring to sing like adults. But this voice sounds very natural. And there is a high note at the end she didnt take! She did very very well. This is two years later but be careful with future choices but sing what feels good. There is nothing wrong with your teacher.

  • OMFG!!!! She is soo good!! I wish I could hve that oportunity as a child!!

  • very talented girl and great teachers¡

  • except for the end she has great support! stop ripping on the last bit of this! she's only 11 and has time to grow into that part of her voice.

  • Her voice will be ruined!!!!! I sing, and I was not ready for that at 11... Nor is any child!!!!!!!!!

  • THATS NOT FREAKIN NORMALL!!!!

  • Girl, you are awesome!

  • This was posted last 2007, right?

That means she's thirteen right now. ^O^

    wow, she's amazing... ^o^

  • wow amazing

  • she really has beautiful voice and very high notes. but quite difficult song selection though. overall is good.

  • You sing wonderfull. I read various comments but finally I don't know if it's bad or not singing opera at 11 age old.

  • too young 2 sing such a piece with a high tessitura and range, but she is good I will admit.

  • wow shes good

  • Oh dear, she needs to be a lot more careful with her voice than this. Why don't these young singers teachers' have them singing arie antiche, Handel and Bach and the like. This fare is for much older singers.

  • I agree. She's not ready for those high notes at the end yet. They sound strained. Although she does have a beautiful instrument, I admit.

  • True. She definitely needs to be careful, because if she sings incorrectly, she can lose the ability to use them in the long run, as can we all if we aren't careful and don't have VERY good voice teachers :)

  • charlotte church is better than her

  • Charlotte CHurch can't even sing it that well.

  • This is not unusual. She is fortunate to have found someone who is treating the voice carefully. Many young girls can sing like this but do not have access to finding a competent teacher

  • She's TEN time better than Aria Tesolin. This girl is incredible.

  • why on earth is this child singing this song??

  • Right... but she sounds better than some 27 year-olds i know..... well not the end but over all

  • Fantastic voice! aslong as her coach is careful it will be an amazing instrument. In response for those who get defensive over others words of caution... Her singing this is like a 12 year old bench pressing 200lbs. I'm sure there is some kid out there who can do it...but just cause you can doesn't mean its healthy. No more Charlotte Churches'! This young lady has wonderful tone and placement! I hope this jewel is tenderly polished over time, nut rubbed raw till it brakes. Bravo young lady!

  • WOW!!! what a voice she got!!

    my god! she's awesome!

    amazing!!! ^^

  • very good

  • Hermoso, eso es talento no chingaderas

  • I think she does a fine job. She does not seem to be having a difficult time with this song. She's obviously not using her heavy/chest voice except on the lowest pitches, which is what really tears up young singers as they get older. This is a young singer so the mic is not an issue (even Pavarotti used a mic sometimes). I think that all literature choices are "case by case". Just watch the video of Beverly Sills when she was younger singing the "Il bacio" and remember her career.

  • The beauty of a voice like that should not be denigrated by the envious. Certainly, we can all hope that her teachers go gently with her instrument so as not to hurt it. Her tone and expression are excellent for an older singer and remarkable for an eleven year-old. I fear many people in the musical world, both performers and critics spend too much energy on derogatory competition that discourages others and demeans themselves. Brava! to this child. Her accomplishment is a delight.

  • WOW!! Where is that voice coming from? She's a fabulous singer, and performer also. I don't get what ppl are saying about her voice not being strong enough

  • Very good for 11 years

  • If she thinks she's mature enough to sing this, take away the mic. She should be able to sing without it.

I get harsh comments about singing this at age 17.

And Eleven year old should not be singing these composers' songs.

When I see young children singing these arias,it is to me a slap in the face to those who have worked and waited patiently to sing these arias.

She will not be able to sing in years to come.

  • Ok... first off... since these operas were written there were people her age and younger training to sing them. and further, she does a fine job and is singing healthily. Please do not make comments about her training as you don't know her or her coach personally.

  • AWESOME!Ö

  • She has very good training, but her voice is definitely not near being mature enough to sing arias.

It is good to have the coloratura training under her belt already, but she really needs to be singing things that she actually sounds good on, because she was straining her voice on the high notes

  • watch gruberova singing this and you'll see how far they are! I just want to people undertand that no matter how gifted you are, without training you can't sing opera properly

  • LOL that was great ... First time I've heard this song ... laughed until tears dropped. ewasome:-D

  • gr8

  • Who gives this sort of repertoire to an 11 year old? Her voice be wrecked by the time she's 16! For God's sake stop trying to recreate Charlotte Church (and her voice was destroyed in this way) and giving operatic arias to kids!!!

  • Agree, Im getting sick of these videos with childrens singing Nessum Dormas or Laughing Songs or Arias that aren't supoessed to be singing without LOTS of study and straining

  • Ekaterina I haven't seen you in forever! I can't believe you dropped out of choir, we all miss you. Especially Zemphira, ah well. I love you voice, if i haven't told a million times! I'll try make one of yournext preformances!

  • ok...i seriously watched this with my mouth completely open in awe!!! i am without words...seriously....this is amazing!

  • What the hell.......she is my idol!

  • You are WONDERFUL! The thing that amazes me is the fact that your breath support is light years ahead of your age, and your body has NO tension. With a foundation like that, you are on exactly the right track, and when you get a little older, the maturity that will come into your voice will make you a powerhouse!

Just be careful that the repertoire that you are performing isn't too old for you-it would be a shame to let bad habits creep into that beautiful of an instrument. Keep it up, ma'am!!

  • she is good for 11 but she looks like she knows she is better than a lot of people..

  • keep practicing you have a long way to go and dont feed into any (how good you are) crap people will feed you, thers always something new to learn. Keep up the good work and you are sure to fly to the top

  • imagine when shes 20

  • I agree with umhg, great potential but she has not so much vibrato and in a few years she will be amazing.

  • bravo! very bravoooooooo!!! You are wonderfull girl and saty in the god way! Keep the grait job!

  • That was extremely well done for an 11 year old and this song; I know plenty of women in their twenties who cannot sing this song the way she does. However, I do think that there is a stage mom somewhere in the audience...

  • not true opera. but she is very good. she needs much more training.

  • umhg, It isn't, huh? Then how come Kiri te Kanawa was also touted as one of the best sopranos for singing an aria out of Die Fledermaus. Check the operatic repertoire before saying it's not true opera.

Good lord, Ekaterina. You got one powerful voice.

  • BigBadDog7076, if you knew the slightest about opera, you would understand. She is very good, but she is inexperienced and needs much more training. It is not true opera because i have a professional teacher, and i am highly skilled and i know a lot more about opera.

  • Are you sure she is 11? omg!!!

  • omg shez amazing

but if u go 2:55 her face lookz so funny =] lol

    ( not tryin 2 b mean)

  • she dosnt open her mouth properly she opens to the sides not down like you have to.

  • Well the tone is actually perty good. Bringing down the jaw is not necessary. The coluratura soprano should not be darken in the first place. Even though her voice has been darken allready. and that can be bad in the future. Also the european technique is to allow the voice to be forward and bright. and also her vowels are vertical allready.

  • omgosh poor kid hahah

you can do that with boys but not with a poor girl hahaha

  • Poor girl... :S It's horrible! :S

  • WOW!!!

  • INCREDIBLE talent for one so young!! WOW.

  • Okay...I do not intend to say that this is not a good performance. It is a wonderful performance, especially for a youngster like her, but seriously, no one under the age of 18 or 19 should attempt this song or anything like it...it's not just the age, it's the lack of technique. True universities and conservatories will not let anyone attempt this until college sophomore year. Good performance, bad age to do it. She has a good chance of losing her voice this way.

  • thats exactly what i was going to say about all these young kids trying to sing opera!

  • You are right and too often she was a bit flat. Takes time and training to do what she tried to do. Sad, that someone is pushing her a bit tooooo soon.

  • Well this girl has accomplished a perty difficult song in the soprano repertoire. Many girls at the age of 20 have an extreme dificult time to accomplish what the girl did. BUt i do agree its not good for her to be pushed at such a young age.

  • very true

  • maybe because the laughing song is not a music for normal sopranos, you need to be a coloratura with alooot of training to do that, twenty is not a big number for opera, many os them start to get REALLY famous about thirts when their voice get to the highest! And yes, it's to soon for her, and creppy

  • yeh waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon.

  • fair plat sung very well and very clear.

    nice high pitch voice lovely

    D

  • WOW!! She has a brill voice! So much better then many of the singers I work with myself and I've been singing Tenor now for a few years but she is fab!!

  • O_O such a big voice

    ^_^ shes good

  • Her pitch is fine, she's right on most of the time. She doesn't have all of the control an adult would. I like your comment 2Many...

  • She does have a very nice voice, but it's true...If she doesnt back off from opera like this for a few years until she has the proper amount of training she will severely damage her voice. Ive seen it happen too many times. She needs to work on her pitches also, but she has alot of talent for her age.

  • She must be doig something right. At age 11 she has over 30000 hits while people 4 times her age who have invested hundred of thousands of dollars and decades in learning to sing are barely noticed. Brava.

  • That is because people see "11 year old opera singer" and become intrigued. One is not going to click on a "24-year-old opera singer" video with the same vigor as one would reserve for a younger one....that is just common sense. And there are plenty of people who enjoy getting their recognition from professionals rather than people who want to dish out praise to a pre-teen who has heard of Die Fledermaus.

  • this girl has a facinating voice

  • Presently you are the best singer girl at your age in the whole world .... very clean voice

, real artist .... please continue ... the world needs more beauty and you're it girl.

  • holy crap!!! thats amazing!!!

  • OMG! increible =O

  • IN CRE Í BLE

  • This is in the wrong key. And when she learns it in German, then I will be impressed.

  • Congratulations - you really are a JERK! You are not supposed to judge her as a professional, but as an 11-year old girl. And she is as good as any 18 year old.

  • I am judging her as an 11-year-old girl. No one that age should be singing like that. She won't have a voice by the time she is 20 if she does not start lessons with someone who will teach her not to hurt her vocal chords. And no, she isn't as good as an 18 year old. But thanks for the ignorant comment.

  • how should you know that its hurts the vocal chords. For some people its easy to sing opera like me for instance i sing opera and im 11!

  • You can sing opera all you want at 11. I started training when I was 14. As far as this girl goes, her technique is incorrect, her pitch is off, and people should not be encouraging something that may damage her in the long run. I am sure with more training she will grow as a singer, but this is not the best youngster I have heard. And Pecs, do you know any other words? Or is "jerk" as far as your vocabulary stretches?

  • oh sorry

  • "her technique is incorrect, her pitch is off".. .funny, I just came away from the Met and had the same impression of several of the singers that evening.

  • That happens. Not very often, but it happens. But you can't compare singers at the met and this little girl. They are totally different.

  • Agin - JERK!

  • lol no at this age she does not have the physical strenght to sing stauss, her vocal chords are being abused, think of this even fischer Diesskau the greatest leader singer of his generation could not do wagner...why? because it was not in his voice to sing such music, he on the other hand could knock the shit out of Schubert, she is going to damage her voice, is not singing in the proper techinque and someone who is knowlageable is not a jerk, rather he is helping more than you.

  • Many singers are not perfect. That is true in this girls case. "Voltaire" is right. She is going to destroy her voice if she doesnt back off her vocal chords for at least a few years. She wont have a voice by the time she is 18 if she keeps abusing it. And for the record, I know many 18 year olds who could knock her out of her socks. And they sing PROPERLY.

  • Me too...becca. =)

  • Everytime I hear this it seems to get better. The middle register leaves me breathless. Just think how the high register will sound with just a little more attention, The mind boggles as to how she will be at twenty

  • What's the point?... It's an octave down... Yes there is a nice clear voice there but it's not falsetta so I don't see the point in choosing the aria. I am very dissapointed with this whole 'The Youngest Singer Ever'... There's no point. I listen to the voice when I listen to Opera so it can come in any vessle I don't care and I don't see why others do... I think Musical Theatre is definatly the way to go with that Alto voice...

  • That's funny! Girls and women don't even have a falsetta register.. And she's definitely not an alto seeing as her tonal centre here is several tones higher than an alto transposition would be. But I do agree with you about that there's no point of young girls' and boys' voices being pressed into molds that were made for adults.

  • They do have falsetta... Hence the term fallsetta and as an Opera singer and co-director of an Opera company for young people I can surely say ALTO!

  • Wonderful, dear.. Just, wonderful =]

  • This is very good for your age. However, I wouldn't be singing arias just yet. I think you should do more art songs and because you seem well trained for your age, the art songs should be a piece of cake for you.

  • Wow, i really love your voice!

    Amazing!

  • she is amasing!!!

  • this is so awesome for her. she has great technique. hope it doesn't hurt her in the long run.

  • holy shit! God that was perfect!

    .... ... .. awesomeness!

  • I'm not quite sure what your irrelevant and depressing comments have to do with a fabulous young talent

  • how is it depressing voicemad? please, do tell...

  • Hello.

I may have misinterpretade you. I've checked your lovely site and didn't see anything about the young singer. That was my problem. I didn't mean to upset you.

  • what the fuck dude

    your creepy

sorrow liked the performance...and no part of his comments were creepy

  • I've been listening to you video for two days. Your voice is fantastic. You focus wains a bit now and again which is normal for your age. You sound like you have a great teacher. Please ask her/him not to make the same mistake with you which was made with the fabulous Elena Souliotos who at 23 was singing with the greats and lost her voice at 30. This was an awful tragedy

  • Woaaahhhhh =D

    I'm jealous !

  • This angel needs only a few small technical adjustments and she'll rule the world

  • Holy CRAP.

    I nearly died,

    that was amazing,

    she officially owns my soul.

  • ooooo mmmmm gggggg !!!!!!!!!!!!!

i cant believe what i see! girl u rule!

  • Brava! I sang this when I was 18. I would love to know where you found this version. I have seached over the years for the music with these lyrics. I have the sheet music with different words. "Mein Her Marquis" english version by Lorraine Noel Finley. Can you tell me where you got your arrangement? Thanks so much.

  • Beautiful voice that could take you far IF you wait. I've seen young singers like you sing operatic arias, and their vocal cords were in shreds by the time they got to college. PLEASE, listen to me. Great potential, here. Don't ruin it.

  • Wow. Now THIS is talent!!!!
