  • Draw an X on the parts to be removed. It is surprisingly easy to cut away the wrong bit.

  • good job !…

  • Awesome … thanks for posting!

    LOL on the "persuader"

  • Awesome … thanks for posting!

  • HES A MASTER ATWHAT HE DOES.

  • sexy, very very sexy joint.

  • "Pretty close"? Only a robot could hand-cut something with that much precision! You make it look as easy as washing your hands. I've seen your other vids, and I'm hooked. Betting you could recreate the Antikythera Mechanism in wood -- someone already did it in Legos.

  • I saw a similar jig that used a sort of "see saw" mechanism to cut the pins and a seperate "swing gate" to cut the tails...it is amazing how many ways there are to "hand cut" dovetails.

  • I really appreciate you taking the time to show the glue and sawdust part. It makes the whole process simple. Your jig is sweet and very ingenuitive.

  • I never seen this connection. But this is stronger than a tooth connection. And this looks awesome. You need to make more videos like these :)

  • WoW! What a cool video!

MW uses his sweet-running homemade bandsaw, an inexpensive blade he sharpens with a rotary tool, & a dirt-simple jig for this unorthodox yet practical dovetailing method.

It may sound overly complimentary, but I find this type of thing inspiring!

MW demonstrates real ingenuity, individuality, self-sufficiency and creativity. Then he shares his knowledge with others. Though seemingly mundane, these are profoundly positive characteristics & uplifting human activities.

  • Lieak a gluveeee!

  • All the inspiration get from your videos... Subscribing to you has really paid for itself!

  • You have some great ideas. This is not one of them.

  • i sence a diy dovetail jig in the near future by Matthias

  • DUDE YOU ARE A FREAKING GENIOUS.

  • could u do this on a scrollsaw? (yeah i know a cutesy tool for cutesy stuff but it's all i have)

  • I can smell the sawdust by watching this video.

  • hey you know how u made the apple cider machines do u think u could do like a maple syrup thing?

  • its amazing what you can do with a bit of sawdust and glue! haha nice joint though.

  • Wow, your results are stunning. As Always ;) I remember doing this all by hand using a chisel and a Japanese saw :(

  • He he....did anyone notice the cricket in the background at the beginning?

On a serious note, Matthias, you are one cool dude! I love your creativity and how you use your mind to come up with ways to do something. When I get a chance to I'm gonna buy your plans and build one of these homemade bandsaws. Right now isn't a good time but I look forward to building one as I have a great need for one. I'm building guitars now and the capability to re-saw on a homemade would be awesome! Cheers!!

  • WOW.... :O

  • B-e-a-utiful ^.^

    Thnx for the tips!

  • "That's ok ... I have a persuader" :) Nice Work! (as usual)

  • this is art!

  • wow look at the url engraved on the wood bar @1:04 I like it :)

  • But I have a persuader :D. Another interesting video, the sawdust method was cool.

  • Love your videos. And your accent-free English.

  • You sir are a master carpenter. I know nothing about carpentry but you're still the master.

Now please help me build a house.

  • It's inspiring just watching you... You must be THE Wood-professor... :D

  • dude

    may i state the obvoius?

you are a great craftsman infact i believe your a master craftsman

and your persuader is a very skilled persuader

persuader mallet i want to meet one one day

  • As before, great craftsmanship, and great video production.

  • wow thx for the tips realy useful :D

  • Hey, Matt.

You're doing a really poor job at hiding your pride in that bandsaw - and I don't blame you!

    Best Regards,

    L.

  • I'm very impressed how much cutting you did freehand and still got it so accurate. It looks very confusing to me. I would probably cut out the wrong parts. Do you mark it so you know which little triangle to cut and which to leave, or are you just that good?

  • very nice

  • awsome

    i like watching these vids

reminds me of design and technology class in grade 8, retarded high school doesnt offer the course

  • this shows good sanding technicues i dont like dove tailing/finger jionting that mutch i like dowling you can make it hidden inside the wood but still pretty strong :) and im not good at sanding that why i say the first bit

  • I dont have a bandsaw, but i like woodworking.

  • the persuaderrrrrr

  • the joint's gotten a little tight already, but i have a persuader BANG BANG BANG BANG! lol love it

  • What thickness is the bandsaw blade you're using?

  • Mestre! Admirável!!

  • Surgical with that bandsaw!

  • do those scratches you make show up better then they do on your videos cause I can barely see them on your videos

  • @grubby7911 They are pretty clear to me when you watch the video in HD.

  • @Maupert90 good for you. that's not, however, what I asked

  • @grubby7911 It meand the scratches ARE clear. ;)

  • your videos are always entertaining, and not just because i like woodworking =p

  • @Whitetiger60 I don't do woodworking, but I enjoy watching his videos anyway for some reason. I'm sortof fascinated with other people's hobbies, and I enjoy watching them work. :) His woodworking, in particular, is sort of soothing when there's no hammers involved. :D

  • yeah! that persuader allways got the last word! LOL!

    nice job!

  • wow

  • lol 6:09 "but.. i got a persuader

  • Maah i got goose-pimples when you mark where ou will cut lol

  • hmm, do you get small cuts from that band-saw?

What is the worst you have been injured?

  • When I was 12, I cut into my thumb once, I'm not sure if it was deep enough to draw blood or not, but it certainly wasn't worth using a bandaid or stopping what I was doing. That's my only bandsaw injury.

  • @Matthiaswandel If you don't mind me asking, what's THE worst injury you've had then?

  • Well, stay away from hand tools. They are dangerous :)

Cut myself with a knife a few times in my early teens, one time even needed stitches.

  • @Matthiaswandel so youre saying that you are so pro that the knife is a bigger threat than the bandsaw???

  • amazing stuff wished you could make some furniture for me :)

  • Incredibly satisfying!

  • cool!

  • aboot @ 1:26 :D

  • I love how you're using self built stuff to build something
