I tend to dislike mainstream bands, but not for the fact that they are mainstream. For instance, Nickleback is very mainstream...and very overrated in my opinion. They claim to be a rock band but keep spitting out simple, catchy ballad-centered albums time and again. I hate bands that turn poppy once they get in the limelight and that's my biggest beef with most mainstream bands. The fact that they are so popular just furthers my state of annoyance but doesn't create it. My $.02

I see what they're saying about bands that actually DO sell out. But, some bands don't. They just appeal to a larger audience with the same sound, just tweaked a little. Nickleback actually did sell out. Three Days Grace, Evanescence, etc did NOT sell out.
