@growlithfan225 I am, my dad isn't. Sometimes he films severe weather and tornadoes if they are along his path when he's working out of state or is traveling. So far he's seen several wall clouds, a couple of funnel clouds and one EF-1 tornado in Dickson, TN on April 4, 2011.
411........My husband is working at the new Cass HS. That school has already sunk 7 inches, which is why he is now there working. Filling in all of the voids. Good video you have here.
I remember watching this on CBS Atlanta News they stayed on the air for 3 straight hours without going to a commercial break. I was visiting family in Conyers GA.
yeah, atlanta does get some bad tornadoes, i used to live in atlanta for most of my life, but now i live in houston, but when i lived in atlanta, we would get one probably once every couple of weeks during tornado season. and now atlanta is underwater. or was.
we left cartersville right before the sirens started going off .had to get back home before a f1 tornado touch down in pickens county.check it out.. GREAT VIDEO!!!
I live in C'ville, and they dont always do the siren thing anymore, I was in Parkside, and it sounded like a british siren, and ours near Dellinger Park, it makes the same noise here, except on the 3rd of 4th time, it the sound just stays there for like 30 minutes.
Earlier this month, we had a couple funnel clouds SW of where I live and it makes it really scary when you are 7 floors up in a housing and you are virtually looking at these things right in the face at 3 or 4 miles away.
Hey Charlie, Cartersville's sirens are actually Whelen Vortex-Rs. I was up that way on the way back from SC, and we went through there and I got to see one of them. I can also tell from your pics, since they have the Type I box (one piece door), and I could see the square rotator motor cover in one of the pics.
im not sure why but i have always had a fasination with storms and tornados, but they still scare the shit out of me...also, maybe noe i should have been listening to this while there was a storm out side O_O
Well... I remember seeing some wicked clouds. I live just about 8 miles north of Cartersville. This system was north of us. We got a touchdown JUST after my family and I left to go to my cousin's birthday. We didn't get it. But we listened to the Cartersville Radio Station. I saw heavy rotation a few miles from Cartersville. It was wicked!
its so creepy in the middle of a huge violent loud storm when all of a sudden everything stops quick, then literally two seconds after the newfound quiet the tornado siren blares. SO EERILY AWESOME
I live in Cartersville, and this storm came through the Friday before I got home from a vacation. I had left my car parked outside (we took my mom's car on the trip) and when we got back, there were a LOT of small- to medium-sized hail dents in the roof and hood of the car. It kinda sucked.
I'm just glad I wasn't home to see any of it, from what my friends told me, it was a pretty intense storm.
This cell went into Cherokee Co. & east from there. Yes, I watched some of this on TWC. A friend in Madison Co. GA said she's never seen the sky so dark when a Cell & Tornado Warning from this storm was over her area.
I was watching the line of thunderstorms on the Weather Channel when this occurred. I just happened to be flipping through channels. We weren't hit by the storm because I live in Wisconsin.
@soccerdude7330 we dont have a nuclear plant contrary to what you might think its actualy a coal plant. i allways thought it was because of the stacks but its actually coal
I actually thought it was exciting up until the gusts of wind got so strong
and a few shingles were blown off of our roof. Lol! You should have seen me trying to get my cats into the garage! My husband and I ran to the bottom of the staircase in the foyer with a matress over our heads... just in case. Thankfully, nothing else happened. But my dad told me this morning that a tornado actually touched down about a mile from their house in Elberton. It caused minor damage.
Whoa, hey, I live in Georgia, and I was watching this on Channel 2...well, not this video, but I was watching about all the tornadoes...we only got thunderstorms but we got nasty tornadoes last May so I'm terrified of bad weather. Good video, I'm impressed that there's already all these vieos about Friday's tornadoes on here!! I'm glad we didn't get hit though, I was getting worried and so was my four-year-old little cousin!!

Husband: "What, its 2 A.M. its time to make one more bad decision."
Wife: Okay!"

why was there a siren doing alert and one doing wail
jamesoncalebbrandon 2 years ago
Because the Nuclear Plant's sirens and the county's system are 2 separate systems.
soccerdude7330 2 years ago
The Power Plant's Siren were sounding? Ok...
sfs2040 2 years ago
Well of course, they sound Wail for tornado warnings, and High-Low for a nuclear problem.
I believe the power plant has Whelen 4004's within a 10 mile radius of the plant.
I mean seriously, why would they have sirens and only use the for the plant?
soccerdude7330 2 years ago
