  • What lovely lightining, i have never seen lightning like that before

  • Dickson county

  • @growlithfan225 I am, my dad isn't. Sometimes he films severe weather and tornadoes if they are along his path when he's working out of state or is traveling. So far he's seen several wall clouds, a couple of funnel clouds and one EF-1 tornado in Dickson, TN on April 4, 2011.

  • I lived on Crowe Springs. Me and my family were in the house when this happened. Can you say terrified?

  • this was like the clouds i saw at home on monday. but it missed us.

  • at 1:42 i know where that siren is and the other one i heard it I saw rotation at that Tornado Warning

  • My house got pegged by hail from that storm.

  • lol.. I would not have been standing by the pumps :p

  • Very nice. Were those the sirens in the pictures? I see now they were. I live in Rome and have driven on that road you are recording.

    Thanks.

  • @csnowutube you like these go see some of the t-bolts in cobb

  • A Whelen is it?

  • 411........My husband is working at the new Cass HS. That school has already sunk 7 inches, which is why he is now there working. Filling in all of the voids. Good video you have here.

  • @pris72 my uncles the principle at cass (principle michel nelson)

  • i hope your father took shelter in the waffle house..... hahah jk.

  • I love the wound of a Whelen symphony, personally..

  • I remember watching this on CBS Atlanta News they stayed on the air for 3 straight hours without going to a commercial break. I was visiting family in Conyers GA.

  • i heard the same thing on thta day, but i just ignored it and went back to playing gmod :D

  • Just realized how much I miss Waffle House....LOL

  • yeah, atlanta does get some bad tornadoes, i used to live in atlanta for most of my life, but now i live in houston, but when i lived in atlanta, we would get one probably once every couple of weeks during tornado season. and now atlanta is underwater. or was.

  • it sounds a little low pitched! just like some of the ones here in atlanta!

  • well yah im 18 yrs old but i just ask my mom n she siad there has been some...my bad i just never been around i guess....

  • Comment removed

  • my cousin has those in her town

  • yah i have lived in cartersville for my whole life n there has not been a tornado hit yet! think god! but yah thats pretty much how it sounds!

  • How old are you? I was born and raised in Cartersville... there have been a few tornado touchdowns in C'ville...

  • I also hear a sentry siren like the one in Dickson.

  • 0:32 WAFFLE HOUSE! :]

  • @TayWilliams101 YUM! Though most people go at 2 A.M! We usually stop at Waffle House on road trips!

    Wife: "Honey, I'm hungry!"

Husband: "Okay what about Waffle House?"

    Wife: "Eww NO!"

Husband: "What, its 2 A.M. its time to make one more bad decision."

    Wife: Okay!"

  • I live in C'ville, and they dont always do the siren thing anymore, I was in Parkside, and it sounded like a british siren, and ours near Dellinger Park, it makes the same noise here, except on the 3rd of 4th time, it the sound just stays there for like 30 minutes.

  • that`s exactly what the fort worth system sounds like

  • wow cartersville has 6 whelens. thats ALOT !!

  • not really....Dublin, GA has 6

  • Earlier this month, we had a couple funnel clouds SW of where I live and it makes it really scary when you are 7 floors up in a housing and you are virtually looking at these things right in the face at 3 or 4 miles away.

  • Ooooh it sounds so creepy when the sirens go off

    Great job!

  • ja das nene ich mal ein geiles gewitter

  • Hey Charlie, Cartersville's sirens are actually Whelen Vortex-Rs. I was up that way on the way back from SC, and we went through there and I got to see one of them. I can also tell from your pics, since they have the Type I box (one piece door), and I could see the square rotator motor cover in one of the pics.

  • im not sure why but i have always had a fasination with storms and tornados, but they still scare the shit out of me...also, maybe noe i should have been listening to this while there was a storm out side O_O

  • same here, im like " I wish a tornado was near so i could see it." but then if it actually came youd be freaked out

  • i remember that! i was at a concert when that happened

  • no offence but whelens sound very creepy to me. especially when there in a distance and they echo.

  • I saw this

  • In person?

  • Well... I remember seeing some wicked clouds. I live just about 8 miles north of Cartersville. This system was north of us. We got a touchdown JUST after my family and I left to go to my cousin's birthday. We didn't get it. But we listened to the Cartersville Radio Station. I saw heavy rotation a few miles from Cartersville. It was wicked!

  • @soccerdude7330 Yeah

  • @soccerdude7330 i did in person

  • its so creepy in the middle of a huge violent loud storm when all of a sudden everything stops quick, then literally two seconds after the newfound quiet the tornado siren blares. SO EERILY AWESOME

  • i have welens where ilive but they do the air horn buz & talk

  • Thank you very much, I've been looking for a video of this siren for a while now. I hate it, but it hardly ever goes off, so it's a rare thing.

Last Friday, when the derecho came through, they were all screaming at us. It was creepy. D:

  • Oops, I forgot to say something. Silly me. :D

I live in Cartersville, and this storm came through the Friday before I got home from a vacation. I had left my car parked outside (we took my mom's car on the trip) and when we got back, there were a LOT of small- to medium-sized hail dents in the roof and hood of the car. It kinda sucked.

I'm just glad I wasn't home to see any of it, from what my friends told me, it was a pretty intense storm.

Thanks for posting the vid! :D

  • creepy sirens.

  • 0:44

  • I can hear those sirens from my house in Acworth! Ours sounds completely different.

  • Can you help me find a Federal Signal Model D?

  • i was there in henry county south of that

  • It sounds like the Hz level on those Whelens are at about 440 Hz.

  • all whelen sirens can make that same tone

  • Thanks for the video!

  • Good timing on catching the warning by Dad.

This cell went into Cherokee Co. & east from there. Yes, I watched some of this on TWC. A friend in Madison Co. GA said she's never seen the sky so dark when a Cell & Tornado Warning from this storm was over her area.

  • I was watching the line of thunderstorms on the Weather Channel when this occurred. I just happened to be flipping through channels. We weren't hit by the storm because I live in Wisconsin.

  • Sweet! nice video!

  • why was there a siren doing alert and one doing wail

  • Because the Nuclear Plant's sirens and the county's system are 2 separate systems.

  • The Power Plant's Siren were sounding? Ok...

  • Well of course, they sound Wail for tornado warnings, and High-Low for a nuclear problem.

I believe the power plant has Whelen 4004's within a 10 mile radius of the plant.

I mean seriously, why would they have sirens and only use the for the plant?

  • @soccerdude7330 its not a nuclear plant its coal........the stacks just look nuclear i fly arround them all the time im a student pilot

  • @soccerdude7330 we dont have a nuclear plant contrary to what you might think its actualy a coal plant. i allways thought it was because of the stacks but its actually coal

  • @soccerdude7330 why didnt you sound your siren?

  • yess but the power plant also uses them when the county sets them off to help

  • by the way why was your dad in georgia and where were you at

  • He was on a business trip

  • there isn't a nuclear plant in Cartersville.

  • we get storms like this in northern indiana too

  • Cool Video, Charlie! :)

  • Great video, Charlie! What a nasty storm! Sirens start at :44

  • My comment disappeared for some reason. Excellent video, Charlie!

  • You are So lucky, Waffle House is the best! 5/5

  • You know, i think I'm the only person who has had bad experiences at Waffle House.

  • See comedian Jim Gaffigan's new stand-up on Comedy Central called "King Baby" or buy it on DVD and watch the last ten minutes.

  • That was just last night! The sirens went off here in Athens too.

  • OMG! I'm in Winterville and I heard them from my house! Lol! My whole family got scared!

  • I actually thought it was exciting up until the gusts of wind got so strong

and a few shingles were blown off of our roof. Lol! You should have seen me trying to get my cats into the garage! My husband and I ran to the bottom of the staircase in the foyer with a matress over our heads... just in case. Thankfully, nothing else happened. But my dad told me this morning that a tornado actually touched down about a mile from their house in Elberton. It caused minor damage.

  • Whoa, hey, I live in Georgia, and I was watching this on Channel 2...well, not this video, but I was watching about all the tornadoes...we only got thunderstorms but we got nasty tornadoes last May so I'm terrified of bad weather. Good video, I'm impressed that there's already all these vieos about Friday's tornadoes on here!! I'm glad we didn't get hit though, I was getting worried and so was my four-year-old little cousin!!

  • great vid dude even though its whelen LOL

  • Nice catch on your dad's part! Too bad he had to witness the *pukes* Squeelens LOL. I live by 4 of them and hate them with a passion.

  • That low-pitched Whelen is creepy too.
