  • Idra Killed herself after being tortured and Gang raped, pretty messed up I say , especially she was also raped by her brother the king..

  • @Fiondra Idra's brother that became king had banished the other brother and had captured Idra. anyone squeamish or sensitive should stop reading now, i will be blunt. the king had Idra tortured and gang raped. i cant remember if she was killed or managed to kill herself, but it doesn't matter when a whole mercenary company is tearing the palace apart

  • omg this isnt metal wtf

  • @KCstreets Why would it be metal? It's Filk and it should be tagged as such.

  • I have read every single Valdemar books and the Oath (and Vanyel's) are my favorite. There is always going to be people who do not like her books, and there will always be people who love her world enough to wish to be apart of it. Each their own. I find the songs while reading (or re-reading) enhances the pleasure

  • her brother did many evil things to her

  • Idra was murdered by her brother King Raschar oRethwellan.

  • so...what happened to Idra? :(

  • @Fiondra Don't know i haven't read this far into the series i've only read Magic's Promise

  • @Fiondra -Spoiler- My Dagorhir captain said she was tortured, raped and gutted by her brother. (our group is called the Sunhawks so makes sense he would have read the book...)

  • @CelticGarou That sucks. : /

Well, thanks for letting me know!

  • i observe those who want their hero's noble and shiney

don't like or find her work lacking

those of us who know the secret love her for her art

    and honesty

just like killers don't look like killers

hero's are not they are just doing their job

    sad but true

  • Um... minor correction for your lyrics... Its Oath breaker, not Earth-breaker. Remember its the Oath breaker clause of the Mercenary Codes they invoke against the King for what happened.

  • @Tzia84 Oops i thought i had corrected while editing out mistakes (and there were a lot), i spotted that error when i did the first read through on the site i got the lyrics from but i guess that was one i missed correcting. Thanks for catching that i have dyslexia so spotting errors is always a challenge especially with the black text on white background most sites use. Even when going over them a dozen times i still miss some.

  • I think Mercedes Lackey is an awful, awful author, but these songs are pretty catchy.

  • @WhoTouchedMyReindeer I think she's actually pretty good, the frist books of hers i read was the Last Herald Mage books, and i was hooksed from there, the world she created is amazing and will forever be one of my favs.

  • @WhoTouchedMyReindeer Why do you think she's an awful author? She's created a vibrant, believable world, perhaps a little righteous and over-abundant in White Knight Syndrome (literally), but still deep and complex, with many layers and an evolving scope. I'm not trying to rage or troll, I'm honestly curious.

  • @lyman6

I couldn't possibly fit all my negative thoughts of her works into a single YouTube comment (at first I was actually dumb enough to try) but suffice it to say I disagree with everything you just said, aside from the white knighting, which I think is among the least of the series' problems. I'm not trying to troll anyone either, but writing down everything I dislike or find fault with in this series would take a lot of time and work. :P

  • @WhoTouchedMyReindeer I love the idea's in the series but i will agree with you on some points it is kind of well no nicer way to say this, badly written and juvenile also overly dramatic and angsty like it was written by a teenager, but i like the series well enough i have been told that they get better as the series go on and Lackey gets more experience writing.

  • @lyman6 vibrant? believable? deep? complex?

Are we reading the same books? Her world is simplistic wish fulfillment at its worst.

  • @WhoTouchedMyReindeer I agree completely. Lackey's books are just terrible, but as a songwriter she's great.

  • I love Mercedes Lackey and finding these songs only increases my fandom! I agree, Vanyel's tale is sad but heroic and my favourite series by her.

  • @Narssissolock Yes i haven't been able to read all of it with the holidays we just got back from a vacation and my mom has Cancer so it's been hectic around here hopefully after the holidays i can finish reading Vanyel's books and get some more songs up i have the rest of a cd to put up and a lot more don't know when i will have the time, being a responsible adult is a pain.

  • I love both this song and the book oathbreakers

  • @ARP7777777 I can't wait to start reading that one i have 2 chapters of Magic's Pawn left before i start Magic's Promise and i can i just say that the book is depressing and makes me think of Harry Potter for some reason eh still good though.
