  • Wow, this is great. Do you happen to have the tab for this version?

  • This piece has been so distorted by many interpreters that, when we listen to such a pure and honest version, we can only say: Thank you for sharing such a fine taste version!

  • This is the most beautiful guitar version of BWV639, I've heard so far. I really love it.

  • good job!! ...... beautiful

  • Beautiful.

  • Seamless arrangement, seamless playing!

Andrei Tarkovsky used this piece well in his film Solyaris.

  • Andreas, danke fuers Hochladen!

  • great...is it possible to get your score?

  • Extraordinario escucharlo. Me ha llegado hasta la médula.

    awesome!

  • Splendid performance!

Steady, and stately, appropriate tempo; without artificial drama. Slow, yet alert.

Masterful control of volume: melody always prominent, harmony in balance. Every note clear and well-placed.

Rhythm is human, not mechanical, but it flows without interruption. That is particularly impressive during two-string mordents such as at 0:46.

It takes a lot of practice and real musical sensitivity to play this well.

    Excellent!

  • @OldSchoolSkill Thank you very very much for your comment!

    Andreas

  • @OldSchoolSkill : Totally agree !

  • i like this even more than Air.

  • @AtanasovPeter Thanks for your kind comments Peter.

  • Amazing ! You are playing like sing a song. (from Japan)

  • @tokiozoo Many thanks from Germany!

  • Beautiful. You should write it. Great job!

  • @eagxel Thank you! I'll try it ;)

  • Overnaturally beautiful! You are a treasure! :)

  • @silencesings Thanks for your comment! :)

  • Beautiful, man! Absolutely beautiful!

  • @Rykhart Thank you Rykhart! I'm glad that you like it.

  • Lovely Thanks!

  • @audioglass Thank you!

  • i <3 classical music

  • Truly great! And it sounds so "right" on the guitar.

  • this arrangement is superb and i like your playing please make a tab of it i want to learn it.

  • ... so I didn't. I hadn't made my mind up whether to ask for BWV 639 or for BWV 721. (My dad wasn't 'into music' in any way.)

However: at the funeral, the first piece of music that was played was BWV 639. Writing this still brings tears to my eyes... I saw - and see - it as a present from my dad. To do something in return I'm learning this beautiful piece of music on organ to play it for him.

    Rest in peace, dad.

    Love you.

To the performer of this piece: beautiful! It will be heard by her!

  • On June the 2nd my father died - the day my parents were married for 40 years. He wanted to get another present for my mom so he went to a town nearby. On the way on his scooter he got a cardiac arrest - right in front of the house he was born in 64 years ago. He died on the spot....

A lot of things had to be arranged for the funeral. My intention was to ask the priest whether it was possible for the organist to play some 'requests'. Due to circumstances I didn't have had the opportunity to ask

  • you have a feeling!!!

  • @doktoridze Thanks for your comment!

  • Very very nice!! Your performance is very good. In addition, the picture of the video is considerably all right, too. Thank you for showing good art. (TS)

  • @kei19690113 Thanks for your comment! :)

  • Great job ! Also for fingerings. Would the score you did be available ? Thank you

  • @dadalaidou Thank you! :) Sorry, I did not write down any tabs.

  • im bord

  • wow. i hope i can play this well someday

  • where can i find tabs? classicalguitarmidi com download midi, import to guitar pro, enjoy!

  • Man, that is awesome song, I ask for you guitar tab, if you can help me to find tab of this song I will be the happiest man on the earth. Thanks a lot.

Marleen

  • @noonmuziek Vielen Dank Marleen! Die Transkription ist von mir. Es freut mich, dass es dir gefällt.

  • Ausgezeichnet! Danke. Compliment from Russia.

  • purely amazing, guess Bach himself would have liked your rendition...

  • awsome.

  • Your interpretation is beautiful. I really like it. Thank you for playing Bach in this way... I usually don't like guitars, but that shocked me!

  • Hallo Andreas. This is a great arrangement and very well played.

I play the classical guitar and I would like to know where you got the notes for this piece??? Thanks

  • BWV was intended for organ, but his guitar performance certainly proves otherwise.

  • Brilliant transcription. I'm learning this on the piano - and even then some of the fingerings are weird. Must have been a though work making a guitar version. Congrats.

  • man..this is great.I love Bach but i am electric guitar player and i am not very good at making keyboard peaces for guitar. Can you send me the fingering please

  • Wow what a great arrangment of this piece!! Bravo bravo 5*****'s

    Best Wishes,

    Rob

  • Wow, thank you for posting this. Beautiful work. Could you briefly explain to an interested novice what challenges you encountered in arranging this for guitar? When you say that it was difficult to find appropriate fingering, what exactly do you mean? What made it so difficult? I'm interested in learning as much as I can about (great) music.

  • wow!! that was awesome, congratulations, i wish i can play the guitar like that.. years of study... thanks for that beaty..

  • Wow. I am amazed. I would like to learn this piece very much.

Could you do me a great favour and send me your sheet music?

    Would be really grateful.

  • Ah Bach music is just what I need to hear.

    Just wonderful

    Thx :)

  • Excellent! Amazing! This could not have been easy....

  • I love it! Thank you

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • Great playing, it's brilliant...

    Compliments from Brasil.

  • Thanks from Germany!

  • The music of Bach soothes my soul.... beautiful piece, beautifully played.

  • Thank you... Bach rules!

  • Fantastic!!! I'm trying to learn by you!:)

  • Thank you, have fun with your guitar! :)

  • love it!! I agree with segovia, when he thought to take the guitar away from the busy hands of the noisy flamenco players, lol. this is clearly a better use for the instrument. so clear and clean. love the trills, sound hard on the guitar but i would not know. thank you for the post

  • Hehe :) But I wouldn't agree, I'm also fascinated by flamenco. Thanks for your comment!

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Thank you!

  • I've just spent the last 4 hours transcribing this! What a great arrangement. Best I've found. And beautifully played x

  • Thank you, I'm honored! And respect for the transcription. Some passages are quite tricky, e.g. 0:44 (took me a lot of time :)

  • Yes! I couldn't work out what you were doing there for ages! It felt very unnatural at first - but I'm getting used to it now. I love the way you manage to keep all the voices fully implied, even when they're not really there! Bravo

  • Appreciate your comments, thank you!

  • Vielen Dank Stefan, freut mich sehr!

  • awsome

  • Beautiful rendition of a beautiful piece! Fabulous!

  • Wonderfully played.

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i ever heard. It has been haunting me ever since 'Solaris'.

Your performance is outstanding, one of the key factors of this success is that you do not slow down or accellerate, thuis avoiding sentimentality.

    Thanks ever so much.

    Peter

  • @bullesbulles Honest question: How does unsentimentalism make music better? I thought it was the other way around

  • Beautiful peace, its sounds good on nearly every instrument, but especially guitar too!

  • Beautiful transcription!

  • I never agreed with people who said that guitarists are frustrated cellists - You showed in your beautiful playing that they are wonderfull musicians performing the 'jewels of the crown'! Bravo!

  • lol who the hell says that?

  • I've heard it (when I was younger and a musicological-student) from many guitarists themselves! It was parallel to keyboardist at my time who had to cope with stupid remarks like: "every harpsichordist is a frustrated un-successful pianist"!... You are young and I hope that you and your generation don't think like that.

  • really? Wow, that's hilarious haha. I've never heard that myself. What do they say cello? It's not similar

  • Of-course it is not. I think it is something to do with psychology... ;)

  • @Babejuda

People are saying this? I've never heard such a thing, but I don't really know a classical guitar player so...

  • @Babejuda I'm a frustrated guitarist and a frustrated cellist, and I've never agreed with people who try to play the guitar like a cello. It's not a cello. The guitar has its own idiom and requires different sensibilities. It can sound beautiful if the player "gets out of the way of the tune." Players who milk each string for tone and slather on vibrato often distract listeners from the piece, provided it's not Brahms. (contd.)

  • @ninebreaker21 (contd.) Mr. Kaesler has shown that balanced, even phrasing and gentle, articulate expression can effectively channel Bach through a guitar.

  • great job!

  • great...compliment from italy

  • que chimba

  • Full of feeling! Great

  • Everything about this is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

    Vielen Dank! ;)

  • Vielen Dank Lopi!

  • nice.

I think it´s supposed to end on a major chord not minor??

  • Yes, you are right. See my answer to

    terry5gordon6 :)

  • ok sorry ;)

anyway, very good arrangement and performance!

  • wonderful piece of music, and brilliant choice for solaris

  • great music and great movie!

  • so what about the original instrument the piece was written for: organ? Your comment makes no sense.

  • Te invocamos , Señor

    ese es el título

    Una belleza

  • wow... very beautiful! ive never expected its posible with the solo guitar..

  • sehr lobenswert! ich wünsche Ihnen alles gute!

    Pax tecum,

    Gustav

  • I am not a musician, but Choral Prelude BWV 639 is my favorite. Very cool Performance on Guitar.

  • Andreas: a very impressive and deep performance, clear and sensitive playing.

I have been working on this piece, but in D minor; anyway transcribed to E has not lost any sense of the emotion, even seems to become more expressive.

Excellent work. Hope to see you in concert some day.

  • Thanks for your compliments!

I also think that e minor is a good choice. The only disatvantage was that I had to raise the bass line (g - f# - e) by an octave at 0:29.

  • hallo andreas, wie ich sehe und höre spielst du klassisch und flamenco! was für eine gitarre spielst? bzw. mit was für einer gitarre spielst du flamenco? marke? oder ist das eine 'cross-over' gitarre? danke für deine antwort and keep it going! gruss aus der schweiz!

  • Hallo trainman,

  • This is a fabulous arrangement and performance, bravo! Paul Galbraith does this also on an 8 string guitar and it is quite something to hear you pull it off convincingly with 6strings. It's a credit to you, keep it up!

  • Is your guitar ''Conde''?

  • No, its a Sanchis Carpio 1F.

  • Loved this, absolutely stunning arrangement. Thanks for sharing this gem Andreas.

  • Thank you very much.

  • Hallo Andreas,

hut ab! sehr schön gefühlvoll interpretiert. und tolle aufnahme qualität.

    beste grüße

    Klaus Paul

  • Hallo Klaus,

vielen Dank!

  • Wonderfull. Can somebody help me? Im looking for tabs of this beatiful prelude and this version is superb!!!

  • Thank you! Unfortunately there are no tabs, its an own transcription.

  • I've been looking for a tab for a while too, and I can't find one anywhere. I could probably make one from the sheet music, but that's a little too hard for me ATM.

  • one of the best ever versions of the magnificent bwv 639

  • Beautiful arrangement of a wonderful Bach Choral. Soulful playing. Respect! I played the Busoni transcription on the piano which is also very nice. I think you can find it here on Youtube, performed by Alfred Brendel.

    Best regards und Danke schön.

    Vabejas

  • quite musical, indeed. Alexander Vynograd also has a special solution for the fingering (see response)

  • Perfect! Except that in my Orgelbuchlein the piece ends with a tierce de Picardie.

  • Thanks for your comment, Terry.

You are right, the original piece ends with a major chord.

Somehow it seems more logical to me to stay in the minor key, so I changed it. Hope that Bach doesn't mind ;)

  • requiem in pace....

  • beautiful

  • Andreas, many thanks for posting this piece. It is just like a pearl. I enjoyed it very much.

  • Awesome!

    Just too good...

  • Beautiful. You must have loved Birgit very much.

  • Ausgezeichnet!

  • Beatiful and difficult!!! very good job!!!

  • Very very beautiful. This is a great moment. Bach would be very glad to hear his music played so well.

Where do I find the scores of this piece?

    Thank you for this video.

  • Thank you for your comment, Ranieri :) You can get the scores for example from free-scores(dot)com, but its for organ. My arrangement for guitar it is not yet written down - sorry! But there are two other transcriptions by Curzio Vasapollo in Cm and Bm, you can find them on classtab(dot)org.

  • Thank you for watching. I was pleased to read your kind comments!

  • I'm so surprised that this beautiful music I heard played before excellent on piano and organ, now gives me with this performance or interpretation on guitar a completly overwhelmed feeling. The guitar-strings goes very well with this 'pulling' melody.

  • Beautiful Music, Beautifully Played on a Very Beautiful Instrument! Thanks Very Much, Indeed!!!

  • Beautiful and effordless interpretation!

    Thank you!!

  • Again and again, I have been here for about 10 times.
