  • Those old Metra Trains are 39 years old/ 32 years old. Oldest Metra Fleet.

  • 10 years since ive been home and rode the electric damn they sound horrible...

  • I wish Amtrak used the high platform for illini and Saluki, as I understand they use Amfleet and Horizon cars, not Superliners.

  • The homewood station is one of the best places to watch trains.Besides Metra trains the station also has Amtrack service and ther CN"s "MarkhamYard".

So peo;ple can watch trains 24 hours aday

  • I love homewood and I live in Hazel Crest!

  • @Jabbajawz4life Me too, I live in Matteson

  • I go to this station bout 3-6 times a year... the Metra station is getting a little bit run down but it still works. The Amtrak is really run down and i don't know if they are going to fix it up or not. The 2 trains usually stop at the same time every Saturday i believe around 10 or 11AM. When i go back there i will get some videos. I have one up already of a freight train stopping and squealing the brakes at this Homewood station.

  • The train sometimes sounds like it about to take off into outer space.

The Metra Electric/Illinois Central Railroad/Canadian National Railroad is a very busy rail line during the week days and sometimes during the weekends.

If there are any events in Chicago,IL it can get very noisy on the main line.

Like for example: The Taste of Chicago

  • THOSE ARE THE FORMER ILLINOIS CENTRAL PULLMAN STANDARD BUILT MU ELECTRICS DELIVERED IN THE LATE 1960'S TO REPLACE THE IC'S OLDER PULLMAN GREEN MU ELECTRICS

  • Boy the motors on that first train sound like they need an overhaul!! But great video! I like how these MU's all have bells on them while here in the Northeast, MU's for some strange reason are exempted from having bells on them.

  • Cool video!

  • see what i never understood, dictch light are only needed if a train opperates over a line with grade crossings and over 20 mph. M.E. has no grade crossings at al on the chicago ic branh towards University Park. IDK do they opperate other electric besides that? like the shore line?

  • Yep, This is video is showing Metra Electric & Amtrak At Homewood train station.

  • Homewood next to Amtrak

  • That was a Merta Electric train blowing it's horn.

  • and i always though the metra electric route was a quiet zone

  • when metra electric trains blow the horn it starts the bell sequence... so train operators blow the horn whenever they are about to enter a station.

  • what was that sound at 2:16?

  • oooo, peak direction 6 car train!

  • Cool, Thank You that you like my video.

  • It was still interesting, I like depots and at least I got to see the metra station before the trains arrived

  • Yes, the amtrak station is still rundown, they need to fix it up.

I will go and check the Amtrak station again sometime.

Ounce, the gas prices go down I can go there.

  • Is the Amtrak station still a little rundown?

  • Yes, this is in Homewood,IL

  • is this homewood?
