1997.. 2nd grade. Every friday my dad picked me after school ended. We went to store and bought everything we did on fridays. Then we went to home. My dad have always loved music and he has hundreds of lp's and cd's. Then, in the year 1997, he bought Andromeda heights. Every friday after he picked me up, he always put this to cd-player and listened it on the couch. I will always remember these fridays, and especially this song, which reminds me from the Golden 90's, about my lovely childhood.
I love this song :-) "mascara melt-down, hysteria ago-go" lol. Love how it tells a story :-) Paddy has a way with words doesn't he, what a talent! :-) New album out sept 7th 2009 guys in case you didn't know! :-)
Andromeda Heights is probably one of the few albums that has a universal atmosphere, one of the best albums ever, despite the fact that songs are not of tables for number one, the songs are very special and beautiful
It's designed to look like him, as well as the others being Slade's Dave Hill, Pete Townsend and Jimmy Hendrix I suspect. I heard a quote that Paddy said Prefabs were going to be bigger than the Beatles which probably brings in the "bigger than God" reference. He implies that their comments were taken out of context as Lennon's were for the Beatles
Sorry if I'm thinking of a different quote, but I know Paddy once stated that "at his best he's better than anyone" in terms of writing pop songs. Apologies to Lennon, McCartney, Morrisey, Marr, but I must agree...
Not specifically about The Beatles, no - it's more a farewell to 'Prefab Sprout' the band, or at least their brief period as a 'pop group'. 'Prefab Sprout' was always more an idea or vehicle for Paddy McAloon's musical adventures. McAloon's as much a songwriter in the tradition of Cole Porter as he is a band leader.
The music makes me cry. Reminds me of my childhood

He could also be talking about the excesses brought about by electric guitars.

Also looks like a reference to Marc Bolan as one of the guitarists
