What kind of moron would get a lizard for a pet for their kids?! I would get a kitten or a puppy or maybe a frog or turtle. But a lizard for kids? NO!
funnily i was at the pet store yesterday and little 9-11inch bosc monitors and i had my hand in with 2 very agressive ones but it was due to them being young and not handled

Why not fill a sink full of water, and hold the finger and the lizard under the water. The lizard would let go of the finger when it needs to surface in order to breathe.

When I was two years old my mom bought me a baby kitten and being just a baby not knowing any better I mad the kitten so angry to the point where it scratched a deep cut from the bottom of my eye to the upper side of my lip. There was so much blood my family thought I was dying.

@turtlesoviet hmm did you hear the story, it was on the news a few years ago, about the golden retriever (not rabid) that attacked a little boy in an alley. A stray male pitbull, attacked & killed the golden. He was then shot by the police because they thought the pit had attacked the little boy. Only after the boy was taken to the hospital did they learn they shot the wrong dog and were giving the ''loving'' golden vet care.
@turtlesoviet yeah, but so are every other dog. The only reason there are so damn many bad ones is because people train them that way. I've had a number of dogs of various breeds from goldens to labs to pits to shephards. Pits are by nature, the sweetest, most loyal dog you can find. They live only to please you, if your happy they're happy. Thats why they make such ''good'' fighting dogs.
I think a pet for a baby to age 7 should be a fish, later they can deside. But a fish is a good first pet.... kinda lame but its a pet. (i agree that lizards are cooler, but not for a first time pet)

he is a savannah monitor they are like one of the nicest animals that there are you should try an asian water monitor and all you haved to do is hold it under water until it needs to breath but those savannah monitors get up to 5 feet long so you need a big cage

Ow. Monitors can have quite a nasty bite. Whoever sold a KID that lizard should be smacked. Kids should not ever have a monitor just for the reason they have sharp ass teeth and can cause quite a bit of damage. People really need to research before they buy anything. have some common sense people spray warm to hot water or even rubbing alcohol on the animals face and eyes, it will let go with a quickness, if those dont work, use long tweezers or forecepts or something like that to get between the childs skin and the animals mouth this should be the last resort but necessary in an emergency situation. if its a life threatning situation like a large snake around your neck, first off always have someone with you when handling big snakes cut its head off or die
when this happens your sappose to have this clamps that when you sqeeze it widens and it has too thin lips on it and you put it in the lizards mouth sqeeze the clamp presto lizards mouth is open doing no harm to the pet
As a proud owner of both Bearded Dragon and Chinese Water Dragon I will hereby say that mother is full of it, I let the kids I babysit hold and pet both the lizards I own and they rang from two years old and up. They are very gentle with the lizards just as they were taught to be, in my opinion it was the mother's fault for not watching her three year son while cleaning the tank. All mother should be able to multitask you know, this and the kid was three and three year olds can be a handful.

i had a snapping turtle bite my finger once when i was 14 because i heard they could bite a finger off and i wanted to see if that was true but it didnt even give me a scratch and it didnt hurt very much and it only held on for about 10 seconds
my blue tongue skink did a similar thing to my son.. .. it was a good life lesson. for both of us. my son learned that little fingers waved in front of a reptile look like food.. and i learned to get a better lock for my tank!!! i would NEVER get rid of my skink though. you shouldn't get rid of an animal for being what it is. i did my research before hand and accepted that bites are possible.

@turtlesoviet hmm did you hear the story, it was on the news a few years ago, about the golden retriever (not rabid) that attacked a little boy in an alley. A stray male pitbull, attacked & killed the golden. He was then shot by the police because they thought the pit had attacked the little boy. Only after the boy was taken to the hospital did they learn they shot the wrong dog and were giving the ''loving'' golden vet care.

@turtlesoviet yeah, but so are every other dog. The only reason there are so damn many bad ones is because people train them that way. I've had a number of dogs of various breeds from goldens to labs to pits to shephards. Pits are by nature, the sweetest, most loyal dog you can find. They live only to please you, if your happy they're happy. Thats why they make such ''good'' fighting dogs.

I think a pet for a baby to age 7 should be a fish, later they can deside. But a fish is a good first pet.... kinda lame but its a pet. (i agree that lizards are cooler, but not for a first time pet)

he is a savannah monitor they are like one of the nicest animals that there are you should try an asian water monitor and all you haved to do is hold it under water until it needs to breath but those savannah monitors get up to 5 feet long so you need a big cage

Ow. Monitors can have quite a nasty bite. Whoever sold a KID that lizard should be smacked. Kids should not ever have a monitor just for the reason they have sharp ass teeth and can cause quite a bit of damage. People really need to research before they buy anything. Things like this piss me off for that reason.

have some common sense people spray warm to hot water or even rubbing alcohol on the animals face and eyes, it will let go with a quickness, if those dont work, use long tweezers or forecepts or something like that to get between the childs skin and the animals mouth this should be the last resort but necessary in an emergency situation. if its a life threatning situation like a large snake around your neck, first off always have someone with you when handling big snakes cut its head off or die

when this happens your sappose to have this clamps that when you sqeeze it widens and it has too thin lips on it and you put it in the lizards mouth sqeeze the clamp presto lizards mouth is open doing no harm to the pet

As a proud owner of both Bearded Dragon and Chinese Water Dragon I will hereby say that mother is full of it, I let the kids I babysit hold and pet both the lizards I own and they rang from two years old and up. They are very gentle with the lizards just as they were taught to be, in my opinion it was the mother's fault for not watching her three year son while cleaning the tank. All mother should be able to multitask you know, this and the kid was three and three year olds can be a handful.

Wdf what ever made anyone ever think lizards don't have any teeth! You dont see a T-Rex without teeth! Also you don't press down on the lower jaw you press down on both sides of the upper mouth. Imagine squeezing the tip on an arrow same thing. I had a 5 1/2 foot long iguana. But i know this way before I even owned that beast.

i had a snapping turtle bite my finger once when i was 14 because i heard they could bite a finger off and i wanted to see if that was true but it didnt even give me a scratch and it didnt hurt very much and it only held on for about 10 seconds

my blue tongue skink did a similar thing to my son.. .. it was a good life lesson. for both of us. my son learned that little fingers waved in front of a reptile look like food.. and i learned to get a better lock for my tank!!! i would NEVER get rid of my skink though. you shouldn't get rid of an animal for being what it is. i did my research before hand and accepted that bites are possible.
