  • i'm sure this has been said many times. but this part of the game and this music is beyond amazing

  • this song and the whole part of it is just epic...FF IX is one of the best of all

  • Best song of the Final Fantasy series !!!

  • Without a Doubt...My favorite Final Fantasy Game and Song from any Final Fantasy...this one was truly a masterpiece.

  • soothing.

  • this song always made me tear up when Dagger shows up to help Zidane. Right then and there you could totally see the love she had for him.

  • 1:08 - best part

  • Most emotional song/scene ever played in any game ever.

  • LOVE this track.

  • Awesome.

Nobuo Uematsu is one of the greatest composers of our time.

  • This song has SO much feeling in it, it's fuckin' beautiful~ T.T It's like 'Zidane D:< Stop bein' emo, everyone loves you~ D:<'

  • There needs to be a "Love" button. I loved this song when I first played it and love it more now. I seriously saved a block on one of my PSX cards that is saved right before this part of the game.

  • @taa20

Lol, I did the exact same thing. For me, that whole scene (actually, *all* of the events on Terra) was(were) the most memorable part(s) of any Final Fantasy.

  • 2 people are alone.I love this song a lot

  • Such a powerful song when i first heard it

  • The last true Final Fantasy god bless you ff9 and Sakaguchi

  • @Jonoridge FFX was a true FF too

  • @MrThomVD I did enjoy FFX but in terms of a Final Fantasy it was the first to break the cycle of a world map... it was a tad linear and the fact that you couldn't explore the world on a Chocobo and all the secret stuff could be found by simply inputting the correct digits into the airship frickin sucked :(

  • @Jonoridge You're right, but X is still one of my favorites. After X all ff games sucked.

  • @MrThomVD I agree i do like FFX as well... It just feels like an RPG on it's own opposed to a Final Fantasy i think it's because of the lack of Sakaguchi being honest

  • @Jonoridge I'm convinced that if Square decided to give X a standalone name, not referencing to any FF game, it would be a way better game.

FFX was a great game but just didn't feel like a true final fantasy.

  • @mirrorpiece Agreed I actually really liked FFX :) Last one I enjoyed to be fair. Just didn't follow the traditional formula :)

  • absolut great game and this was for ps1.... the latest FF for ps3 is a fart...

  • Very memorable track for me.

At the time I was a young 12 year old playing this and when I had reached this point of the game for the first time< it emotionally touched me forever.

At the time of my life I was having very big emotional issues and I seriously had the same thoughts Zidane did at that part, that he thought he was all alone, with no-one and his existence was meaningless.

And then it happened, his friends showed they really cared for him, after seeing this scene I changed...

  • Vivi and Zidane are my fav chars

  • Vivi and Zidane are my fav chars

  • Also my favorite Final Fantasy.

Honorable mention to all others, though.

  • best part of the whole game, with garland and zidane realizing the truth.. ahhh so nostalgic im about to play it over.

  • now i want to replay this game...just for this one part =p the whole game was epic, but i have to say this was probably the most dramatic heart thumping part of any FF game.

  • Instant classic.

  • So that's the song! I kept humming the same tune but forgot where it came from. x.x

  • I love this song. Years after I played the game all I remembered were the guys chanting in the background so I replayed the game for the soul reason of finding when this song appeared in the game. Totally worth it.

  • Oh man. I love Final Fantasy IX. My favorite FF. Played it the most too. VIII being the second.

  • Love when the guitar comes in. Reminds you how torn up Zidaine is for some reason.

  • @Lostentranslation I completely agree, I was thinking the same thing. This song perfectly describes what Zidane is going through.

  • Classic moment at 1:10 with the extra percussion chiming in as if adding intensity to the stage.

  • Well, the first Wild Arms was truely great. I'm not a great fan of the others though~

Into the Wilderness contain too much epicness, I can't listen to it without having a FANGASM. DX

FF and Wild Arms are both different games. Even if they have technical similarities~ YOU man, HAVE GREAT TASTES !

    SupraDarky, you too !

  • Didn't they only play this song at like one point in the game? When Zidane (or whoever) is going through or giving some epic inspiration? (been a long time since I've played this game all the way through...)

  • IMO they need to start playing this at the end of FF concerts instead of One-winged Angel.

  • FF9 < All that BS they're doing to the FF Franchise these days. It's not Final Advance Technology Fantasy. (Then again, most people see advance technology as their own 'Final Fantasy'.)

  • This is my favourite RPG. It's even better than Wild Arms.

FF9 put me into an amazing Fantasy World and I didn't want to go^^'

Sometimes I thought "Why can't the world be like this"

I loved the story and the soundtracks who fit in that great. New situation --> new sound and everytime I thought: "This fits well together" :)

  • @Baghnal Wait wait wait wait wait. I must admit that FFIX is awesome, but don't compare them both, it hurt me so much, I can't choose D:

  • @Meishali

Ahh, ok, I've thought about it again and I must say.... Well, you are right.

Wild Arms (I've only played the first one) and the Final Fantasy series are fucking amazing^^

And I also like the soundtrack. "Into the Wilderness" (Intro Wild Arms) is still one of my favourite tracks.

Somehow this one let's me think about Yuffie and Cosmo Canyon (FF7)^^

  • What I love about FFIX is that the story was really personal, and it's easy to relate to the characters. It puts you in a fantasy world. It's a great game that balances humor with serious moments. - Almost all of the characters were well rounded, the dialogue really added to the emotion of the scene. I was absolutely caught off guard when this song played. I didn't know what was going to happen next. -> By far my favorite FF9.

  • This song is awesome!

  • Fucking amazing game. just beat it right now for the first time.

Definitely one of the best FF games. Probably tied with 6 for best for me

  • The orchestral version is fantastic (it might be on Tour de Japon)

  • Dear Sony and Square-Enix:

Quit sleeping around and put this damn game on PSN to download, your dimwits.

While you're at it, put Xenogears and Legend of Mana too. C'mon, lazy bastards.

To Sony: Also put Legend of Dragoon NAO.

  • @darkemg there geting the idea out as we speak to put it on psn. not trying to be mean but if you want proof check google news type final fantasy ix psn. but there puting in jap first so it might come in sep or nov.

  • @bradleyman13 so what? they still didn't put it, and surely they aren't planning to put LoD, Xenogears or LoM. So, I stand correct. When (and IF) they put FF 9 on PSN, they're still missing a crapload of good PS1 games.

  • @darkemg i didnt think of that sorry. your right sony should changed the idea from choose to force them to download them onto psn. for example disney decided not to put KH birth by sleep in jap. but it might be brought on USA psn.

  • @bradleyman13

It's coming over on the psp. In September

  • @bradleyman13 You sir have made my day. I tip my hat to you!

  • @darkemg I'm waiting for FF9 as well. Such a great game. I also wouldn't mind trying Legend of Dragoon.

  • THIS was the song that made me go to a local store and request for the FF9 soundtrack <3

Still have it and each song is in my ipod :D

  • Such a powerfull song...you hear it once in the game, but enough to remember forever

  • I can't believe that Nobuo created such a music, it feels like it's tearing you apart. =/ Damn nice Guitar work.

  • this song gave me chills...final fantasy IX was the very first game that was given to me brand new...and it had just come out too! x-teardrop-x memories...

  • @nwilliams8511

omg gave me chills too O_o

  • The moment this music played had me standing up on my feet as I playted. Truelly one of the greatest gaming moment of my life.

  • techincally there isn't a big difference. it's just that sci-fi is more often used for futuristic stuff in outer space and such whereas fantasy is usually associated with "other world" things.

but there are many games that have both elements in them

  • I guess your right. That's why I like both. But some people like this ex-girlfriend I had didn't like sci-fi one bit. :( And she's sometimes psycho... and cutesy...

One of the main reasons she even broke up with me was because I'm Agnostic and she's a Christian. I found a lot of things wrong with it imo so I stopped believing in it...

And it's annoying when my mom keeps saying she just had to move on or some bs. I don't even know if they know what it's like to think deeply and emotionally.

  • lol. I tried to get her into .Hack, Xenosaga, and Star Ocean and she only liked Star Ocean. That's understandable though since the characters can get a bit annoying and it's pretty weird, or at least for Xenosaga (when Tsukasa went through a wall, that was pretty weird.)

Besides, Star Ocean seems to be more focused on the simplistic nature of a underdeveloped world. Nede is like Final Fantasy VII. Lots of technology yet so much free space. Earth might even be like that.

  • The music alone is one reason why IX is really good. I swear, it's like the better the music is in a game, it influences all other aspects in it. The best games have the best music.

  • @AkumaUchitoru that is why the snes will forever be the best system :D

  • Yes!! yes yes!! this is what gaming music is all about here..

  • Man oh man oh man how many times do i play this one going down the road!!! :)

  • This song is played once throughout the entire game, its so epic!

  • zidane pwns

  • Great song made even greater since it continued uninterrupted during battles, making it even more memorable.

  • it's funny she's supposed to be 16 but looks like 12...

still a great game of course and i really liked her as well

  • does that make zidane a pedo. I kid Zidane is the most badass main character in a ff game. I love all the characters. There all so well developed.

  • nah it's the same with him ^^. and i agree he's the biggest bad ass in a ff game.

  • lol your right. Steiner and freya are 33. cute couple lol

  • One of the best and memorable songs in FF 9, it comes at a perfect time in the game and the climax in the song can give you goose bumbs everytime

  • Very good song! Nobuo has a nice way of handling softer music.

  • This song is perhaps the best song in Final Fantasy, ever.

  • Has anyone here beat 9? I'm stuck and need help. PM me pleeeeeease. :D

  • Still need help?

  • Sure. Do you have MSN? If you do, PM me your email pls.

  • only ff i've finished so far. how could i not, with this song pushing me forward?

  • goodness! i never got that far in ff9...

now i wanna play just to hear it!!!! not to mention see what's going on when this plays.

  • I just love this song! Its one of the best in the game (and that is saying a lot).

  • This theme sends chills down my spine. Man, I love this game.

  • It's about time you added this wonderful song!

  • "You're all a bunch of babysitting bastards!" "But trust me, I know that I'm the worst bastard here."

  • ah, FF9. The one that got me into Final Fantasy. And my favorite in the series.

  • hm does this remind anyone else of a song called "House Of The Rising Sun"?

  • That another epic song. Good song too...

  • i love the soundtrack of ff IX and i haven't even finished it yet so i haven't heard all the themes.

  • Thats just the best track of the Final Fantasy Game series i mean when this appeart in the game i was crying like a little baby (iam a Guy oO)

i mean thats so emotinfull i can´t describe it when look back at the game zidane help all characters out and now he the one who needs help this part of the game is the best ive ever seen we can also see in this part its good thing to have friends with you who believe and help you out when you in danger.

OMG this is the Longest comment ive wrote lol

  • Really a moving theme. It appears only one time in the game, but what a hit !

  • oh my gosh dagger is SO beautiful!!! if only she was real i would be all over her

  • She's too small :-/

  • making it only so much easier :D

  • shes 16, give her 2 years :P

  • This is my overall favorite track from FF9 i simply love it, and it comes in one of the most emotional parts of the game :D

  • Oh one of my favorite Final Fantasy tracks of all time something about it is just so majestic and comforting in a odd way makes me feel warm lol...I am not too sure why possibly because video games for me are like living a second life. Anyways..Tour De Japon did a wonderful version of this too. =) Still prefer the original more though.

  • I expected this song 408 videos earlier.

  • I agree but not 408 videos...more like 405. Some Chrono Cross and Trigger music is better.

  • It doesn't go from best to worst, ya know.

  • @MasterAsra well if by this being on 408 people still cant figure out , they never will anyway xD

  • I love this song soooooooo much, thank's SD =)

  • Best song from this game!

  • Not my favorite FF game to be sure, but an awesome song nonetheless.

  • Great song for the best final fantasy in psone.

  • Best FF would have to be 7 :D

  • I think 7 is a great great game, but honestly Final Fantasy IX has something... that the others don't... is some kind of... magic...

  • I sort of agree. Personally I believe its because FF9 goes back to the roots of Final Fantasy instead of being modern like the previous two predecessors.

  • Yep. I think this is the best song from IX.

  • Not even "One Winged Angel" can surpass this song as the best final fantasy theme of all time.

  • i wondered when this song would make the list (cause ya know it had to). not only is it awesome by itself, but the use of it in-game was perfect. IX is just awesome like that.

  • Ohhhhhhh! Such Happiness!!! This song brings a smile to my face everytime I hear it. No best VGM list is complete without it!

  • Didn't play enough of FF9. Finished it once, and it had some decent music. This one is pretty nice.

6 is still better than this though ;)

  • sorry man that I asked a stupid question I wasnt paying attention

  • This song brings back so much memories, amazing as always whenever you hear it.

  • My fave FIX song! Awesome!

  • Beautiful song!

  • I truly LOVE this song, especially the part of the game where is played,I even made a save for that part just for this song :D

  • IX will always have the best soundtrack.

  • Amazing, was waiting for this song to come up, SupraDarky You've played all the great games from my childhood and i sincerly thank you for creating this list, i have been a huge fan from the start i cant thank you enough :D

  • Omg, this game has such good music... I even think 6 it's on the same level with 6. How about this game's overworld theme!? Or Freya's theme!? Or Kuja!? Oh man, so good...

  • Nice pad synth. I don't remember the music very well from 9...In fact I don't remember anything from it, I believe I repressed it because I didn't care for the game at all. This song does seem familiar though, I wonder if it was from this or something else...

  • Oh Sweet!!!!

Was waiting for that one, amazing song IMHO!

  • what this song called

  • That is a seriously stupid question. -_-' Look at the title you tool!

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC!

I can't stop listening to the orchestra version the first time I got it.

  • man hearing this makes me want to play FFIX again. My favorite FF and probably my favorite track from any FF game

  • hellz yeah

  • Simply one of the best songs from FF IX, and probably also the one belonging to the best scene in the entire game. This song really tells you not to give up, because you're not alone, and that's the reason why it'll always stay one of my favourite tracks...

    Nice choice, SupraDarky

  • Oh, in my top 30 at least.

  • The absence of this track used to be my only problem with your list. That problem has now been rectified.

  • Ahh yeah! Best choice of music.

  • Gah, nostalgia. This was my favorite part of the whole game.

The song reflects its title so well.

  • YES YES YES! AWESOME CHOICE!

As soon as I heard the VERY first two tones I knew which song. Another great choice!

Heck I cried a tear as soon as I heard it. >>

  • One of the best songs of the series

  • you are the best on youtube!

  • Yay, really good song! Gotta love the rock guitar part at...I don't know, it hasn't loaded yet. Point is that it's kickass.

  • You know what? I'll just say that every instrument in this song rocks, rock guitar in particular. (It's at the 1:08 mark, apparently :P.)

  • It touches the same basic human emotions in all of us.

  • Tracks like this are why your list exists. That's all I have to say.

  • BEST SONG EVER.

  • Amazing tune, one of my favorite moments from my all time favorite game :)

  • This song is my favorite song of FFIX (together with the song in Lindblum, can't remember the name).

Didn't they also play this song at the Lifa Tree at some point? (I could be wrong though, it's been 7 years since I finished this game)

  • I see you took my advice on posting more FF9 music... good call! Can't go wrong with Uematsu's favorite soundtrack.

  • I agree. FFIX has the best FF soundtrack in my opinion. And this song is just like the tip of the iceberg. Good choice

  • Ah the best track from the game. Just hearing it was amazing! I never expected such a solemn piece like this from IX to have such depth.

  • Awesome choice :D

  • good choice :-)

  • Heh, I remember when I first heard this song, I spent hours trying to find it.

    5/5

Also, this song was played on Disc 4, after Zidane found out what he actually was, when all of his friends were trying to bring him back to reality (Hence the name.)

  • You're certainly not alone either.

Your 3824 subscribers and I are right behind you!

  • Where in the game is this played?

  • In Terra, where you fight that series of battles and your team rejoin you one by one. A really awesome moment ;)

  • I was wondering what part of the game this was played too. Thanks man! It's been like a decade or so...

  • too bad it only played once ... this music is epic

  • this song sounds real soothing i like it
