I think Anakin actually is just speechless when Palpatine talks about Sith Lords and so on, there's an inner conflict inside him, he's aghast at Palpatine but also enticed at the same time, he isn't sure on what to do. It's just that George completely forgot to show us that. Anakin should have rushed outside, unsure on what to think of Palpatine, or at the very least showed him to us with some kind of alarmed facial expression so we can actually relate to him.
