hehehe they are all funny and mad, walk them for 20 miles give them 5 min and they will do it all again...happily....take one on and thats what u get pure energy and madness i love em..i had mine from 8 weeks old to nearly 15 my baby girl...Haz..Harriet being german.
My weim, called Oska, has his full tail and he is now over 7 years old and has never had any realy bad mishaps with his tail. If these fantastic creatures were meant to have short tails, they would have been born like that. Glad to see that here in the UK it is now illegal to dock ANY dogs tails unless they are working dogs. Long may they wag ;-)
Someonespecial0911.. docking their tales is typically for show, yes, but most responsible breeders recommend it regardless because of how long and whip - like their tales are. They can easily break them by smacking them against furniture and walls and while up needing surgery, or knock children over and everything off your coffee table. Lets not be silly about it.
just think they look much better clipped.i have one now a very dark gray shiny blueish color.as hyper as he is i couldnt imagine what he would knock over with the tail all the time.. great dogs and very smart
In Sweden it's against the law to dock the tail of a dog so all dogs here get to keep theirs. Our Weim spends loads of time in the woods an no damage to the tail so far

why would u get such a gorgeous breed and not have their tails cropped?sorry for u but i dont consider those weimies and i love mine to death so dont say nothin
I love these dogs~ mine is named Geist(living with my parents) and she is such a personality and a beautiful addition to the family. My partner and I will be getting one as soon as we get settled. Thanks for sharing!
once i get a bigger place that can handle two weimies i plan to get a girl for my boy. Plus there are not many weimies where i live, i ahve only seen two thus far. Every time someone see him they think he is a great dane. yeah something i said.."great dane" they dont even look alike..german shorthaired pointer, or visla but not great dane
points or automatic disqualification from dog shows like American Kennel Club etc as well. My dog has no problem with his tail. And i can count only once has he chased his own tail. They have rare personalities i must say. i never get bored, or tired of my dog. And the best way to slow them down is to take them to doggie day care. By the time he/she gets home in the evening the most they will want to do is sleep, not even eat they so tired. LOL
wow..you didn't cut their tails off. Finally someone else who don't do that. i have a 4 yrs old, and found a breeder who doesn't do that. I do not believe in doing something like that to an animal just for show purposes. He also acts like this too. Never seems to get tired & i love him to death! Snoopy is the name and for good reason trust me. lol
I don't believe in doing that for show either, but...The dogs tail around the home is in constant danger of being hit against hard objects like walls, tables, being trapped in doors. These injuries can result in sores at the tip of the tail, which don't heal well because there is poor blood circulation in this part of the tail. Licking and chewing makes it worse and the skin and tissue will die. Hunting dogs are in great danger of damaging their tails when thrashing through thick undergrowth.
Mst weimaraners get their tail docked because of hunting. They are german hunting dogs and not getting the tail docked as babies may result in the tail hitting a tree and either getting hurt or the deer or whatever freak out and know that your there/
@someonespecial0911 I´ve got a 4 year old weim ho has long tail as well...but, recently he has been hurting himself a lot, i mean, when he wiggles his tail he smashes it with whatever is next to it, and now is constantly bleeding, it hasnt totally healed no matter what we do, and my dad is considering cutting it up. What do you say?
lucky dogs that have owners that take them to the beach for a good run!

I love this. This is what we do for our weims, take them to a field and let them run lose! That's the only way to really get them tired and happy :)

I have to ask: What Weim isn't full of energy? We're Weim lovers. The only reason why we don't have two is because our house is barely surviving one!

should of clipped the tails!

@n1ne1 ..... errrm, why?
rarfiedarfie 1 year ago
@n1ne1 - Why? They are not used for hunting or shows.
I am glad they have a tail!!
HMDevilish 1 year ago
@n1ne1 It isn't necessary to clip them unless they compete in shows or go hunting.

My Weimaraner has his tail and it hasn't caused a problem. I can't see the point in removing it on a pet dog, but it's the owners choice.
Nice video, Remington is going to the beach in the summer for a run.

the only point in cutting off the tail is if they are used for hunting... so if you arnt goin to hunt with them then y cut the tail off?

The breeder my parents got ours from no longer breeds them, as she said that no one wants them with the undocked tail :O
they're always cute though.
