why are so few couples doing the lift at 6:45 on straight arms? every time i have seen it the guy is supporting with his neck/chest as well...which must make it really awkward unless the girl has a back like Ferri had.
My favorite female ballet dancer dancing my favorite PDD!!!
There are many great dancers out there with fabulous technique, but rarely do you see them dance with true artistry, -and that is what separates them from the rest.
The brain can be taught technique, but only the heart can birth the artistry and musicality that makes one splendid to the senses.
Thanks for this historic post,I saw her many times as Juliet(with Kevin McKenzie)and I don't recall her EVER dancing with this type of abandon.Just magnificent.I think Julio had a lot to do with it...
@qbendanny1 She dances with abandon, impetuosity and a magnificent brilliance that comes once in a lifetime. Makarova's body is one beautiful, long and unending swoon from her first rush down the stairs to meet her Romeo to when she finally rushes back up the stairs and trips on the last step, delirious and in love.
I've seen no better Juliet, the much vaunted Gelsey Kirkland included. Kirkland was beautiful in this PDD but nothing like the fierce, burning brilliance you witness here.
THis dance is pretty, but it nothing can hold a candle to Gelsey Kirkland!

Loverly. I am so sad that the Gelsey Kirkland version of this has been removed from viewing.

@hairyeahyeah Do you mean the one with Kirkland and Dowell? That one is back up.

@qbendanny1 Amen! I'm sure he had a lot to do with her magnificent abandon. These two are almost too beautiful to be true:)
