Man, this was back when the band was fucking awesome. I mean, I love their new stuff so much, but compare this to the shit they played at the Guggenheim. No comparison. They used to sound like a real fucking godly band, but these days they are mediocre at best.
Ok if we were to pull apart the sounds it would be like this : MGMT= The doors + Led Zep + Radiohead (a lot of it) + LSD(yes the drug) . I'm glad they are able to get inspired by those bands and still sound Original. most bands lately FAIL to distinguish Inspiration from Copying. cheers!
i like how they never play the songs the same way.. thats the way every band should do it... what's the point of going to see some shitty band that plays their songs the exact same way every time?? theres too many crap bands out there that don't know whatmakes good music
these guys have really, really improved their live sound. remember their appearance on Dave Letterman? It was awesopme cuz they were dressed in capes, but they sounded kinda awefull (not really full and kinda grating)
They've done alot to flesh out their very much alive sound. and metanoia? fuckin essential listening.

Finally something good coming out of U.S. musical industry!
Ever since the Doors and Hendrix ... it has all been crap. And indeed the beginning sounds A LOT like a DOORS song.
