Ich komme aus Deutschland und ich muss sagen, dass die Matrosen und Soldaten die auf der Yamato sowie auf der Bismarck gedient haben meinen größten Respekt haben!
That may be true but I have to give the "greatest naval vessel in history" title to the USS Enterprise: Basically the entirety of US Naval power in the Pacific for a while after Pearl Harbor, several victories, nearly destroyed on several occasions but came back each time to fight for America in the war, and recipient of the Presidential citation...
Difference between Yamato's sinking and Pearl Harbor? The Yamato knew she was at war BEFORE she was attacked. And wasn't anchored in a shallow water port. And she was thrown away in a suicidal, futile, empty gesture for "honor."
wow... that was truly fantastic! I have watched the movie with indescribable pleasure:) I think, that this is the best movie of "Midway" I've ever seen:) Thx, and greetings for all fans of Sabaton:)
well what we need to remember, is whilst the battleships that fought during the second world war, all of them were fantastic feats of engineering, we should really be commenting on the valiant men who crewed those ships.
Sorry man Yamato was biggest than Bismarck. In a confrontation Bismarck will be destroyed by one Yammato's Gun salvo. Just look at their specifications
@Darth1214 lucky they were fighting on the same side... but the Bismarck wasn't a unicate. There was a second Bismarck-class battleship called Tirpitz sunk in Norway and a third one in progress
@Darth1214 I don't know. It was one of those standard History channel docus. I'm from Germany so the title was dubbed but something with Yamato - Glory of Japan
Auf dieses Video antworten... no sorry i wish the Bismark is Greatest Battleship cause than i could say the Germans build the Greatest Battleshiep of the World but the Bismark has a lenght of 251 meter's and the Yamato 264 meter's. ---------You all can read many informations in the discription below the VIDEO __!!------
@EmstCntRob No the largest Battleship was the Yamato class and U.S Iowa class is bigger than the Bismark. But the Bismark was more advanced and bigger than the British ships it was fighting against. That's how it made it's name.
Actually the Bismark was a conservative ship design that hadn't benefited from interwar experimentation like the Allies had done with their old hulls and capture German and Austrian ships. Her armament was in twin turrets equally distributed between fore and aft, for Pete's sake. On a commerce raider. The only reason she blew up HMS Hood was 'cuz the Hood was based off of equally pre-Jutland ideas and never got the modernization refit that might have saved her.
Funny but i don't recall any presence uf US Navy ships on Sibuyan Sea during initial US Air attack on Kurita's central group which ends with sinking of Musashi o_O.
Beside i really doubt if ANY US destroyer would manage to even reach range for torpedo fire facing FULL strength of Japan squadron there including both Yamato class BBS.
@Qusza2007 Torpedos were useless against the heavy armored Yamato /don't forget that/---------- in this time the Yamato was near unstopable for other Battleships and that was the reason why they attacked the Yamato from the Air
Perhaps you think about Battleship Fuso from Nishimura's South group sunken by destroyers in Surigao Strait battle.
And on the side note i really wish someone would do a movie about Philiphines invasion (three epic battles after all : Surigao Strait, Samar and Cape Engano) BUT... after Michael Bay's Pearl Habor... i am not quite convinced if Hollywood would be able to produce anything not tainted with anti Japan sentiment...
Didn't those Japs learn anything at pilot academy?

Naval battles are the most brutal, people crumbles along with the airplanes/battleships, corpses will fall to the bottom of the sea.

@WARORK93 I didn't say "Greatest". I meant most Badass.
Waine999 2 months ago
Same thing...in order for a naval ship to be considered the "greatest" it has to be pretty badass...
WARORK93 2 months ago
@WARORK93 Well, I guess it could take the "Most Experienced", and "One of the Greatest" -positions. And lot more, I might add.
