  • Absolutely beautiful! It must have been amazing to see all of this up close.

    And it's great how well these and other cave paintings were preserved through the years: it helps us to be able to imagine how people lived back then.

  • Yes, they are that old. When the climate became arid the people moved to the Nile valley. The Gilf Kebir is as far from fresh water as you can get. Water taken by the organizers of these desert expeditions is rationed and only for drinking and brushing teeth.

  • This is really cool, thank you for sharing it. Those definately are ancent if they really are 9000 years old!
