awesome movie but this was a bit unrealistic, that mustang could go 37 tops in reverse and btw you cant just rip the e brake and smoothly transition without stopping first, . but i dont mean to be car detective :P

@m4r71jn The 5.0 (0-60 roughly 5.0-5.5sec) would be faster and moving away from the 300(0-60 7.3secs.)ThE 0-60 speeds are just to give an idea. Especially because the Driver is a getaway Driver and the other guy is most likley Cook. (Note: Brace on hand, not the one smashed.) That being said the 300 probably could stay pretty close to the GT, in my opionion.

MY LIFE HAS NOW BECOME THE TIME BEFORE I SAW DRIVE AND THEN AFTER THE MOMENT THE SCREEN TURNED BLACK! My jaw DROPPED! This is Kicker too lol. There is a serious stompin and a couple of my favorite violence scenes of all time. The violence was quick, brutal and DETAILED making it VERY realistic. Gosling is a great actor and on of my favorites.

@REMY45HST It's not the speed but the sound. Listen to the sound when he drives in reverse, he changes gears many times. Quite stupid mistake in a movie that is so linked to driving.

@rosszpenz No I do know I hear at least 3 gear changes before he turns and drifts. However I think it might be the editing the cutting back and forth that makes it sound like hes changing more than he is. Thats all I meant even though hes only got 1 gear that will do 40-50 max mayb. I think we are supposed to suspend disbelief which is easy for me at this masterpiece.

@m4r71jn I LOVE that scene it looks so real. It goes from beauty to violence in a split second too. They are kissing then bang, head off the elevator and he tosses him to the ground. I loved how at 1st he just gave him a few kicks, keeps going, then you can see hes FUCKIN LOST it using the railing as leverage to smash his head. 16 stomps on 14 its mush. This was way better than the curb stomp in AHX, IMO. I like how he stares at her after too and shes totatlly dumbfounded. GREAT SCENE!

I honestly dont think it is really shifting in reverse like it shouldnt be. The way it sounds with the editing is making it sound like he's got multiple reverse gears. However, he is going a bit fast for reverse I dont think you can do much more than about 30-40mph max in reverse.

Yes it IS! It is just so sweet how he bangs out that J into the drift, I agree. Whoever really did that turn can drive like hell. The way they film the entire scene is perfect too. This was a very cool chase scene.

I know there is only one gear in reverse. Its either 1 of the 2: suspension of disbelief or he modded the car a bit, before the job, which could be done. He had access to a shop and many tools at hand. He may have modded the reverse into multiple gears, such as some stunt cars do to reach higher speeds. If he did it could move in reverse but I dont know if that was the intention. I think we are just supposed to believe its possible with a regular car and suspend disbelief. Cool either way!!!

@andyflores111 I just explained in the post below. He sees the thing and blocks it by driving backwards so the other car cant see. So when he J turns then breaks into the drift the car cant make the turn and flies into the construction area. I think he drove backwards to draw the attention to himself and kind of draw the other car in to the situation. At least thats my take it looks like thats what hes doing.

@REMY45HST Actually what the other car is doing is called a PIT maneuver, trying to spin him backwards and stall the engine. Driver knows that they're going to spin him out soon, so he decides to spin with the PIT and avoid stalling by shifting into reverse. Otherwise I would say you're right. By baiting them into ramming his car, he forces them to brake late for the turn and understeer into the barrier.

@nyumetsu Im not going to agrue thats a great point there. He is almost about to pit him. However it stlll looks like a bit of both to me. You can see hes checking the road signs and thinking up something. I think you got a good point though it makes alot of sense. I didnt even think of it until now. I think it was maybe both the PIT and seeing the barrrier.

@ethanster1 dude there are cars that enable you to reverse a higher gear in a manual car but you must select the a higher gear first and also you can do reverse in high speed driving in certain cars.

That is a kick ass move he pulls do you guys see what his plan was?!! He sees that thing for the car to hit so he J turns it and floors it in reverse. This blocks the other cars view of the object it will hit. He then swing the car around again doing a perfect drift because he knows its there. While the other guy turns to late, and the slo-mo crash in the back with the girls face is awesome. I like when they leave out music in certain scenes too not every scene needs it.
