A Clockwork Orange, Of Mice and Men, Middlesex, and Fight Club. Excellent. I didn't enjoy Augusten Burroughs, but really recommend you read more Chuck Palahniuk. Invisible Monsters is really, really, very good.
I average 100-200 books a year. You may want to look up "GoodReads' which has many readin challenges. You have a very good stack there...best of luck! Roseann
You are so adorable. I hope you read those books! I'm not sure how old you are but if you are over 18, which I am assuming, I will go ahead and say that you are very very pretty, as well.
You are so adorable. I hope you read those books! I'm not sure how old you are but if you are over 18, which I am assuming, I will go ahead and say that you are very very pretty, as well.
@AlexisKatchuk Some books requires savoring, mulling over to fully get the sum of the work. In fact, some books are due repeated reads. A book is not something to get past in order to get to the next read. Better than a year's reading goal is a lifetime reading list like that susgested by the late Mortimer Adler. My own list includes obvious classic writers like Shakespeare,Homer,Tolstoy, etc. along with more ambigious choices like Ayn Rand,Anne Rice, etc. But I do like the idea of reading goals.
@sleedolfine15 I'm well aware that books require savoring. I have my Master's in English and am now getting my PhD. And you might want to move Ayn Rand from "ambiguous" to "classic" seeing as how her works are anything but "ambiguous" in the literary circle and her works are considered classics.
@AlexisKatchuk I hope that my comments did'nt come across as critical of you. That was not my intention. I was merely making a statement of personal educational philosophy. As for Rand,I put her in the ambiguous catagory because inspite of her work's influence(Tea Party,Libertarianism, etc.)and survivability(never out of print) she is treated dismissively by many. I personally found Atlas Shrugged & the Fountainhead to be brave & powerful works.
Great job! I do daily book reviews and read profusely... found this video from searching "Gregory Maguire Mirror Mirror" because I just a did a video on it today :)
thanks so much for making this video! I have been trying to find a video on youtube containing a list of substantial (meaning not fluff) books to read and this really helped me! i had no idea about the 50 book challenge. so thanks for enlightening me :)
@emmmi8 Hey, just so you know I do a book review every day on my channel... it's nice to see that there are people on YouTube who appreciate the written word :)
You have to plan out the time you spend with books. A 300 page book should take you 3 days at 100 pages per day. My goal is always 100 pgs per day, so even a huge tome (700 pgs) should not take more than a week. I try to shy away from books that are more than 500 pages because I want to read at least 2 books a week. On average I read about 100 books per year. You just have to plan it out like everything else. Happy Reading !
Yes I do. That comes with an IQ of 142, unlike your DUMB ASS. Tell me something, is jealousy painful? Read more, and you will have less time to attack those who out perform you !
I read WAY,WAY,WAY more than 50 books in a year. I LOVE to read! On my page, I have a list of books(but that's only a little bit,I've read way more! ) On your list,I've read the Uglies Series and Diary of a Teenage Girl Series(you put the book Meant to Be,but i've read all of them)
i read like 2,000 books a year. i read super fast. i once read a harry potter book in one day and understood it and then wrote a book report on it for school
well,if you read really fast like me,than it's not hard to read a Harry Potter book, for example,in two days or even one. That's what I do because I read so fast and I love to read. :)
"Everything is Illuminated" broke my heart, and was alltogether fantastic, I must say it's one of my favorites. Augusten Burroughs is amazing, and I have to suggest getting a start on "A Clockwork Orange" and "Fight Club". I'm amazed with your taste in books! Good choices! :)
I got about a third of the way through A Clockwork Orange before I gave up with frustration at the writing style. It's so hard to get through. I'd like to finish it one day.
Most of the books that you have listed I have read already just in general lol. Taming of the Shrew, I just read with my english class. It was pretty good. I liked it. XD
offtopic: hello i started reading as off today "Memoirs of a Geisha chapter 6" and surprisingly i find it quite fun anyone has any tips off books i should read? ooh and i prefer the used words are somewhat similair to memoirs of a geisha because im not english as an example "the art of war" was hard for me to follow
sorry for hijacking your comment box jenn hope u wont mind. :)
Uglies really is an awesome trilogy,I read them all last year, the second one is called "Pretties"
and the third, "Specials" is very good. I have also heard a rumor about there being a fourth one coming up, called "Extras". Another good book by Scott Westerfeld is called "Peeps", and I'm currently reading the sequal to it, called "The Last Days".
keeping a goal really helps me stay motivated to start a new book right after i finish one...i also like to see what's on other peep's TBR (to be read)list...lol.
just to let yah know, i can read a book a day in the summer..and thats with doing a million other things and they aren't stupid books either, they're like jane austen and victor hugo kinda stuff..and i can read a book a week during the school year..and ive pretty much read all those books you held up.

Middlesex is one of my favourite books. Great idea this, and you've picked a good mix of titles. Liked seeing all the different covers too, I work in a bookshop and they are all different in the UK. Yeah, sad I know...lol.

Its possible to read 50 books in a year.
The more you read the faster you can read. I read everyday. I can go through a 300 paged book in three days max. 900 pages in around eight days.
Keep reading and you'll build speed :)
