I love this tune, it sounds so harmonious and deep and beautiful. yet at the same time mysterious and eery. I never get tired of this song and I've liked it ever since the first time I heard it, plus I easily learned the lyrics and It's fun to sing along to. Paul McCartney certainly has a beautiful singing voice, as do the others. The Beatles are forever.

An elderly former security guard who worked at The Cavern in England claims that "dolling his socks in the night" is about him, and he told The Beatles that he "dolled his socks in the night." It's not exactly something that he should take pride in.

I was just thinking. I realized that one interpretation, however unlikely, would be that the lonely people are those without Christ. Like I said, not very likely. If you think about it, it does make sense. The Reverend writing a sermon that no one will hear, nobody coming near the church, no one was saved all point to this conclusion.
