  • can I put all my vinyl on my computer with the rane system?

  • Take a shot every time he says OK.

  • Do I really need to buy the interface? Isn't it just enough to buy a Rane mixer for serato and two decks? please reply :)

  • so if i went and bought a dj controller (which i really want to go already)

i would NOT BY ANY MEANS be able to use the controller with serato without the interface?

  • hi brian if a i use serato scractch live 1 with 2 denon sd3700 the effects going to work or not

  • It would be great if you could do the same tutorial with a mac or at least with itunes. I'm having trouble dragging and dropping the songs from itunes into the crate, not sure why? Can anyone help?

  • thank you for answering my question stefan

  • but if you have 2 dual core computer it builds 2 overviews at a time and a 4 core pc builds 4 overviews at a time

  • hi, if you donwload it, you dont have two jog wheels like you have in computer?

  • that's right, if you want to use 2 decks to mix&stuff you need to buy the hardware (about €550,-) and as soon as you connect the interface that comes with that package you wil get 2 deck controls

  • Hi, this is very informative and it helped a lot.

  • how much is the interface

  • yo brian,

if i live in calgary AB do you know where i would go about buying the actual Rane Serato Scratch Live interface box tat i plug everything into

    pls respond

  • Hi Brian, When taking my music to the Scratch live folder is that then the only copy or are my music files still on my computer ie when I delete files from Scratch live do they delete from my computer that is my only worry about uploading or dragging them to Scratch software.

  • Bro, you just help me out so much, Thanx!

  • I use serato as a hobby and can't get the two turntables to display on my screen. What cheap device can I hook up to the computer to allow my laptop to display the two turntables. Thanks

  • brian, great vid. i'm gonna purches scratch live in about 2 weeks. my question is, what are the name of the two songs you start playing on this video? is it pac jam and prince?

  • What Track is that on the bignging

  • Hi Brian - exc. videos. I dont have SSL yet but am leaning towards buying it. Currently have a typical dj setup - 2 1200s, Rane MP 24 mixer, monitor. A few ques- I use Sound Forge to record my dj mixes now -will I still be able to use Sound Forge to record SSL mixes? Also I have a powered speaker for my monitor (an RCF ) - I have that speaker coming out of my booth output back of my mixer - can I still use this speaker as a monitor if I get/use SSL? thanks for your time and help.

  • how do you change the bars for scratching from left and right to up and down

  • Scratching is for niggers asshole.

  • I agree. That is why most all DMC champions have white colours. lol

  • Nice Video. Very clear.

  • i build overviews and it didnt count bpms for all my tracks.how do i rebuild overviews.serato says it already did it and wont allow me t do it over

  • how do you start all your tracks from the beginning with out resetting the needle to the beginning of the record on serato

  • Does the need for this exist if I buy CDJ400 ?

How is it compared to Traktor Scratch ?

  • If you want to run Serato with the CDJ400's, you will still need to buy the SSL interface.

I don't use Tractor, so I'm not sure how it compairs. All I can tell you is that SSL is still the industry standard when it comes to virtual vinyl

  • Actually I think that the CDJ 400's you dont need the rane box. You just plug usb to your computer...

  • sos bri what i ment to say is the hardwere free?

  • Yup, it's free!

  • Oops...That's my videos, ha ha ha... C'mon know, "judg'n from the equipment" as a dj you know where everything is. That wasn't a mistake, that was a inside joke... Just like what hizip123 typed to you...FUCC'N FAGGOTS!!!! aka Blaze

  • is it free?

  • Just one question I'd love to know the answer to.

Can I get serato to lock the pitch of a record to stay the same even when I adjust the tempo?

  • Do you mean Key Adjust? Where the key stays the same but the record speeds up?

  • Wow, Top marks for a fast reply.

Yeah, thats it, Can you do that with serato?

  • yes, it's called Master Tempo. It's the little musical note icon

  • Yeah? Thats what poineer call it too, Its called key lock on everything else,

Thanks very much Brian. Great videos

  • It works with my windows vista?

  • Yup, there are Vista drivers on the ssl website

  • Tell people this software doesnt work with Windows Vista

  • Why would I do that? It does work with Vista and has for over a year now

  • Yep sorry i take dat back. i have it my self i was mad cause my frind had some issues with it. It works great on my vista... 1.8.1 is latest and it works great u can even put ur computer to sleep and hibernate with no issues.

  • hey Brian how can I transfer music record in to ssl ??

  • nevermind delete last comment THANK u verry much :D i was searching how to add a BMP bar :p for weeks lol cheers bro ! keep on Mixing ;)

  • Nice vid.

  • There are newer videos up on the subject if you check out my channel or djtutor dot com

  • what kind of turntables and mixer are you using in this video?

  • Thoes are Technics SL-1210MK2 turntables and an Behringer VRM300 mixer.

  • yo like the video. it really helped but i have a question. i downloaded the free version and most of my songs got the bpm but theres like 4 of then that dident. do u know why they dident pick up the bpm.

  • thanks B!

  • thanks B!

  • Hey brian I have another question if you don't mind!

I want to record my set , can I do that through the Serato program . I notice there is a recording option, but it's only either for turntable 1 , turntable 2 or Mic ... Is there any option where I can record the whole thing or do I need to use another prog?

    Thanx

  • The recording bit is for ripping or sampling. One thing you can do to record is run a "Line In" to your computer (using BOOTH or MONITOR of your mixer OUT) and record your set with a WAV recorder. Often times, there will be a "Record what you hear" option.

  • hey , i just got ssl , the new version 1.7.4 , seems that I can't find the "set auto BPM " , is it different on the new version of the program?

  • Did you unplug the Serato box? You need to do that to build overviews

  • now I see, thanx a bunch!

    cheers

  • can you move music from windows music player to scratch live "crates"?

  • I don't think SSL likes WMA files. IF they are MP3 files or WAV, yeah you can use them in SSL :)

  • hey my name is eric i berly getting in to dj like how much does scratch software cost >?

  • SSL hardware runs between 500 and 600 bucks. The software is free. Just download it from the Rane Website.

  • Oh ok. Yeah that makes more sense.

  • I checked out Mixmeister Pro and it seems really easy keep the beat going. It say's it matches beats by itself. Does that work well? It seems good for gigs if you don't want to take the chance of messing up your mixing and sounding bad. Now I just need to decide between that and SSL for my gig's.

  • It does an 8 bar mix by default, but I always tweak it. I prefer 4 bar mixes or slam mixes to a long 8 bar mix.

  • Do you use SSL when you go out and DJ? I notice you have your laptop when you DJ. If you don't use it what do you use?

  • I use Mixmeister Pro 6 at gigs

  • i like very much all the gear inside the table.. all the wires are hidden!

    pretty organizated

  • hey man well done...btw,what's da names of da 2 songs which is played on 2 turntablez at first?

  • that sucks that it comes with vinyl record as a default and not CD...obviously its cater more hip hop music.

  • It comes with CDs as well. I just wasn't using them in this demo

  • nope, all you need to have is a REALLY good video card like 256mb or higher...and RAM of atleast 1GB..and ur good to go, about the plugins, you have to have CoDecs for the type of video file ur using for ex. divx

  • Good video Brian, Pretty soon gonna release Serato with Video Support.

  • Oh really? Wow! That'll be nuts!

  • Virtual DJ, already has video :)

  • Yeah I heard that, is there any plug-in that i need to install? (Sorry Brian)

  • nope, all you need to have is a REALLY good video card like 256mb or higher...and RAM of atleast 1GB..and ur good to go, about the plugins, you have to have CoDecs for the type of video file ur using for ex. divx

  • Cool I'm gonna try that.

  • yea, and the good thing is that you can use the Serato hardware with VDJ software :)

  • Yeah, I use the serato HW (SR1)and it works but they recommend their own Time Coded Vinyl.

  • yea, if u use the serato vinyl on VDJ then the pitch is 6% off, coz the serato timecode is different then that of VDJ, but try um, Deckadance, its a new software made by the same people that made Fruityloops/FL Studio...and can run any sound card with any timecode ever made yet...

  • Gr8 job Brian! I myself have just however I've played with Serato a while now. :/ What I mean is I've started in the organization aspect of the product and I would love to see more demos from you. I just wanted to write a line and give ya props. Thanks. -pagbuya1379 (DJ PeezoE)

  • thts fucking sweet gezzer gd video

  • Yo brian...enjoy all your videos... from one mobile dj to another... in your past videos you use a cart to carry you gear around... by any chance could you tell me where you got that from?? im looking for a cart like that but cant find it... thanks for all your help... and good luck with SSL... I've been a user for like a year now... a true life saver

  • Thanks for watching! I got that cart at Tractor Supply. It was somewhere @ $40.00. I think they have an online store. I'd recommend picking up some coaster upgrades. IT only took me 3 gigs to trash the stock coasters.

  • Keep those thing upcoming Cant you test out vitural dj timecoded vinyls?.

  • You got your SSL second hand right? How much did you pay for it?

  • No, I got it brand new in the box

  • i was just waiting for someone to play the fax machine sound. now i feel complete

OH one thing - does it tell you keys like mixmeister? it would be nice to have that to cross-check

  • No, who knows though. We may see this feature in future versions

  • hope so. i just recorded an 80 minute mix so i can listen to it in my car, and i tried matching the keys with the help of the keys that mixmeister told me. tho i think 2-3 songs were wrong. ultimatelly i hope to learn how to find them myself on a keyboard or something

  • I just brought Scratch Live today. Installing it was fine but i can't get rid of the fax machine sound, i need help!!!! Thanks

  • oh lols. well someone help this guy quick! the fax machine sound is cool, but you can't mix it!

  • A+ Brian! That was a great video it was step by step and word for word, Prefect! ;-D And hey! do you or any one reading this know of a good pc dj progr

  • one question, can you use any cd players? i'm thinking on getting it but i don't want to buy turntables right now..

  • Yes. You can use CD players. Timecoded CDs come with the interface as well as the vinyl records.

  • Is the wallpaper on your laptop a picture from Amnesia Ibiza by chance?

  • Yeah, I think so. I just grabbed it from the Radio 1 Site a while back
