  • Wow a blast from the 80's

  • @Musicalshootings haha is that good or bad? maybe I don't wanna know :)

  • ....hey....very nice...better with a drum machine and some echo on the voice ? (my poor opinion) :-)

  • @jazikata yes, it's lacking sorely in parts. just a late night experiment. thanks for the constructive feedback!

  • how do you get the micro korg sounds to play in Logic Pro?

  • nice job!!!! check my channel out!!!

  • awesome..man i really wana do this so with logic pro i need a micro korg to record what i actually want meaning custom sounds?im really all new to this but your not :D help?

  • so is the microkontrol designed to allow u to play micro korg sound on the computer

  • @torawfordiz The microKONTROL is simply a midi controller... designed to allow you to play anything that is midi capable. In this case, I am using it to play the plug-ins in Logic Pro. But it can be used with any software, or hardware.

  • what do you use for your voice? answer please!

  • @nnawe the vocoder on the microkorg, but I don't remember which patch... most likely B.84

  • @KidKulit NICE ONE!, thank u. MICROKORG on mi wish list!!!

  • what vsts/synth patches are those

  • @helplcp unfortunately, I don't remember. sorry couldn't be more helpful :/

  • What Starfy???

  • @Xhumedcorpse Starfy is a Nintendo DS game. It's very cute and fun :)

  • Usually, you'd have your main vocals done, with a vocoder as the background.

I realize this was olden material, though.

  • @TheLynxie thanks. I was experimenting one night with the vocoder. didn't occur to me then to have both. thanks for the constructive criticism... that's how we learn and grow :)

  • The beatbox is not so bad. This vocoder is not the better for this use. Very good performance.

  • @malve3lxr thanks for the constructive criticism

  • it has a crystal castles feel :)

  • @ThomasJamesLion aww thanks man... I'm always really embarrassed by the vocoder on this vid, but it was fun anyways :)

  • @KidKulit hahah welcome

    i auctually really like it

i've watched it a few times his week

    keep it up :)

  • Good!

    -j-

  • @jaroslorenc hehe thanks!

  • This was relaxing to listen to. :) A very enjoyable experience for sure. :)

  • @Brokeninc awesome! glad you enjoyed it :)

  • This one makes me feel squiggly! (Thats a good thing!)

Look forward to see/hear more from you.

  • @Xhumedcorpse well as long as "squiggly" is a good thing :) thanks! glad you enjoyed it

  • Dope

  • @TheLENCH101 thanks :)

  • im wondering how i just setup my microkorg to logic to record sound presets ON the microkorg, if i plugged it in through midi wouldn't it just be another midi controller? how do i record what im playing on my micrkorg?

  • @ETSJoshVoxx proper cables. you need a cable that goes out of your microKORG (1/4") and into your computer's audio in jack (usually 1/8")... or into an audio interface (usually 1/4")

  • @KidKulit so like i have a ux8, an 8 audio input audio interface, i take like say an instrumental cable 1/4" both sides, on the audio in? on the back of the microkorg into an 1/4" input on my interface

  • @ETSJoshVoxx CORRECT! give it a go and make sure you set it up all correctly in your DAW as well. good luck!

  • @KidKulit You should make a tutorial on how to do that because I am super stoned and that was the most confusing thing I ever read.

  • @KidKulit And I was talking about hooking it the microkorg up to logic through an audio interface but not as midi.

  • how do you record the microkorg? through midi? if you record throught midi, would you record the sound from the microkorg?

  • @downsalas midi does not carry audio. they are two separate things.

  • @downsalas midi does not carry audio. they are two separate things.

  • I like it :)

  • @swagn8na thanks! glad you dig :)

  • how come your microkorg is with the sound editing stuff on the left en te sound selector on the right... its just reversed or something

  • @hongdekong camera is recording in mirror mode, that's all... microkorg is standard, I assure you

  • in dubstep would be nice

  • @GreenTabarnak I like dubstep... haven't made any dubstep tunes though... worth revisiting this track to experiment... thanks for the suggest!

  • what's doing the Vocoding?

  • @Boonzeet the microkorg

  • bored

  • @infrazonico concur

  • Brilliant! Just missing a big drop and some badass drums ;)

  • @strawberrymachine thanks man... I really hate the vocoder on this one

  • do you use a Interface to connect the midi key and synthesizer to your pc. or how do you connect them? pls help me because i want to buy a midikeyboard and a synthi.

  • Do you use a Interface for the Midi key and synthesizer. or how do you connect both keys to your pc.? pls help me because i want to buy a synthi and a midi controller:p

  • @MasterandMoon The microKONTROL is hooked up to my Mac via USB. The microKORG is hooked up to the Mac's built-in Audio In. But you could also a midi\audio interface... USB or FireWire. There are many ways to hook up your gear. You just need to find the set up that works for you.

  • this is excellent!! well done

  • @elekd thanks man

  • this song is awesome congrats! i want to do something similar but im not sure if buying the microkontrol or the microkorg the last one you can use it like a midi controller right? please give me a good advice! thanks!

  • @crazyhippie69 well the microKONTROL is only a midi controller... while the microKORG is a synthesizer but can be used as a midi controller as well, though it's a bit harder to configure if you plan on using it that way (at least, for me) My best advice is to test gear you are interested in first (ie. rent from your local music store, borrow from a friend, buy on the cheap second hand) Then you'll know what you like and don't like. Good luck!

  • AHHHH! This is so bad ass! You should upload it without vocals and see if other people can put stuff over it.

  • @RussmCaldwell i know i know the vocals are atrocious

  • SO impressive. I'm flummoxed by the MicroKontrol. The manual is awful and I can't get it to do much beside keyboard. Half the time, in Logic, using the sustain pedal stops/starts/rewinds the track and shuts down the output level. I'd love to take lessons from you. Thanks for showing me, at least, that it can be done!!

  • @bobbo924B it wasn't easy! at least not for me. I'm not very good with MIDI. I have since sold my microKONTROL. Maybe one day I'll get it back!

  • I like this ! It reminds me of Crystal Castles

  • @MisterBankz thanks man :)

  • just drop a bass line on that baby and you have a banger!

  • @HarryBlufc91 I dunno if it'd be a "banger" perse... certainly would pick it up though... I really hate this track cos I think the vocoding is terrible (was experimenting)... I should come back to it though, drop the vocals, and work on some other parts like a bassline. thanks for the suggestion!

  • hey please what interface are u using exactly here? i got the fastrack but not the best quality

  • @aafoch2000 I don't use an audio interface for my YouTube videos. I'm simply using the internal sound card on my MacBook Pro and photobooth. When I'm recording audio though, I use an M-Audio Firewire 410. The sound is pretty good.

  • how do u connect the microkorg to the computer so you can record stuff on like cubase and ableton ?

  • @onesixlovee this is the easiest way (that I know) to do it:

    - get a 1/4 to 1/8 audio cable

    - plug 1/4 end to microkorg (or any gear)

    - plug 1/8 end to computer input jack

    - in system preferences, change input to input jack (not mic)

    - you can probably also adjust this setting in your DAW

that's it! it's not the best solution, but it will work

if you want better sound, use an audio interface

(M-Audio ones are a good place to start) good luck!

  • this is mint but id cut the crappy vocoder :/ maybe use a talk box or just auto tune instead (y)

  • @guinguinpenguin haha thanks for the suggestions... i was just experimenting...

  • @KidKulit are you gonna make any more vids with the microkontrol? a wanna see more of that :)

  • @guinguinpenguin unfortunately I can't... I sold my microKONTROL a few months back... nothing wrong with it at all, I was just in need of the cash at the time... now I'm in the market for another midi controller... something cheaper and smaller (like "throw in a backpack" kind of portable)... looking at the korg nano series or even the Akai LPx series

  • @KidKulit yeahh iv thought bout gettin sumfin from the nano series but im not gonna take it anyware so i might aswell jus get a microkontrol. id stick with korg btw everything always works together better if its from the same make (y)

  • @guinguinpenguin when I had it, the microKONTROL was ace! you won't be disappointed with it.... i am however looking for something smaller now... i have a nanoKONTROL but am considering the Akai LPK25 and LPD8... solid build + a few more features that appeal to me (i.e. minikeys, built in baby arp, knobs instead of XY pad, etc)

  • I like your cool hand movements. A homage to Laurie Anderson??

Damn that little MicroKontrol! I had one, but really struggled to get it working woth my PC. I would plug it into a Mac, and it would always work 100% and easy. But on PC, it was a dog! (No offense to dogs - lovely creatures).

But I do love my MicroKorg! I'm currently setting it up to be controlled by a Behringer BCR2000! Gonna be really sweet once it's going. I'm going to post a video of how to do it ASAP! Really!

  • @muzboz I dunno who Laurie Anderson is... I'm only playing that way because a) of the microkeys and b) I don't really know how to play piano all that well. I sold my MicroKontrol several months ago. It's a great board, just need to downsize my gear. That sounds like a rad setup! Would love to see how it works.

  • @KidKulit Look up "Laurie Anderson - O Superman - clip subtitulado!" on YouTube. Very cool song! Really grows on you the more you listen. Dig the body movements!

Also, you can find my new video describing MicroKorg and BCR2000 hookup by searching for "How to setup a Behringer BCR2000 to control the MicroKorg parameters (Part 1 of 2)".

  • @muzboz so I tried to check out that Laurie Anderson vid, but it wouldn't load for me... I did check out your setup vid though... looks super advanced! I don't think I'd have the patience for all that programming... as long as it works for you though... to each their own :)

  • The video is reversed horizontally! Bizarre! The higher notes are to my right, instead of my left! Freaky.

Like the song. Nice work. :)

  • @muzboz thanks man! (excuse the mirror effect... it's just the way my iSight and photobooth record vids)

  • I like it! I so want a vocoder...

  • @transparente vocoders are super fun times!

  • bravo love it :))

  • @DiTiello cool! glad you enjoyed it :)

  • kidkulit are u indo??

  • @joesquarepants nope, I'm filipino

  • great track 5*

  • @StudioF wow thanks!

  • very nice. How much did you gave for your equip?

  • I buy all my gear second hand from Craigslist usually because I can't afford to buy it new.

  • you sure can! I've gotten rid of my microKONTROL and now use my microKORG as midi controller as well

  • Great video, i just got a macbook with logic express on. I have the MIDI connected in out one end and the usb for the MicroKORG plugged into my Macbook. How do you setup your MicroKORG and your Logic file so you can use it as a controller? Thanks

  • in this vid, the microKONTROL is being used as the midi controller for Logic and the microKORG is being used for vocoder only.

  • How would you go about setting up the microKONTROL within logic then? sorry i'm having no luck!

  • I have since sold my microKONTROL... and I don't remember how I did it :| sorry

  • Not particularly Amazing, but okay nonetheless. Nice. =)

  • haha yeah not my best... I'm not fond of using soft synths I've decided... check out some of my other vids... maybe you'll find them more amazing (than this one at least!)

  • guys someone know why i cant ccontrol reason whit the microkorg properly?the knobs are not in a continous order^^

  • you may have to midi assign each one individually

  • Are the pads on the microKONTROL as good/responsive as on the padkontrol?

  • I don't have a padkontrol, so I can't really compare. But I can tell you what I think about the pads on the microKONTROL.

If you plan on using them to drum out beat patterns, the feel will not be great. The pads are better suited for triggering samples or for transport controls, etc.

  • this is rightous... and would be twice as rightous if you threw a dope beat over it.

  • hey thanks! this really does need a beat on it, doesn't it?!

  • i have a microKORG and microKONTROL with Reason 4.0 on my macbook. How do i connect it all? I bought my microKONTROL used so it didn't come with the USB cable just the AC power so how would I connect my boards to my macbook?

  • midi cables are the answer, make sure the out end is in and in in end is out though

  • very true, GT! I hate midi but I feel like it's a necessary evil in the world of music making

MJP, if you want to record the sound proper from your microKORG, you'll have to make sure you have the proper audio cables and\or audio interface for your computer

  • yup KK is right, i have Reason 4.0 so if you need help with something, let me and i'll try to answer with my best.

  • I'm thinking about getting a MicroKontrol or a Kontrol49. Some people say they're the same except a micro is smaller. is this true?

  • They share a lot of the same features for sure... same faders, same pads... the keys on the K49 are full-sized as opposed to the minikeys on the microKONTROL. Both great choices, just a matter of preference really.

  • the things you do with the microKORG..it's possible to do it already with the microKONTROL? (:

  • the microKORG is a synthesizer, so it has all of its own sounds. but the microKONTROL is only a midi controller (no sounds), so it has to be plugged into a computer or any other midi enabled instrument to make sound

  • so the synth you did with the microkontrol, those are all from the PC? I can't use it without a PC? oh s**t I ought it just 2 minuts ago! this sentence makes me crazy!

  • That's exactly right! The synth sounds from the microKONTROL are all patches from Logic Pro (hooked up to my Mac via midi\usb cable). The vocoder stuff is strictly from the microKORG.

  • y is everything mirrored?

  • I shoot my youtube videos using Photobooth (thru iSight on Macs) and that's how they record unfortunately.

  • the sliders can be assigned to anything with midi CC... so volume levels yes, but many other parameters as well.

  • man I get so much slack for that line haha DOH

  • hehe... "feel so hard"... jk

  • hardy har har ;)

  • What kind of mic is that?

    AND I JUST BOUGHT A MKXL! :D

  • The mic? It's just a run-of-the-mill computer headset actually. The 1/8 condenser jack fits right into the back of the microKORG. Makes vocoding super easy.

Congrats on the MKXL! Post some vids with it!

  • Ah okay, and haha yeah when it gets here! By that time I'll have enough for a kp3. xD

  • that midi keyboard is WICKED COOL!

  • Yeah I like it too! Lots of people can't stand using mini-keys, but I don't mind them. It's just a matter of preference. I like that the unit has a clean layout and is compact. It fits on my desk tray perfectly and has all the functionality that I need. Wicked cool indeed :)

  • Exactly, I'm not a piano player, I have a melodica so I'm used to small keys anyways. + $500 to order a MicroKorg XL this week.

I like that kontrol49, but will prolly just get a PADKONTROL and fill the rest in with the nano series. :P

NO WAY am i getting a nanopad and missing out on the light show!

Hell, im subbing you! Can't miss out on good MK users. xD

  • I love my melodica! I want a microKORG XL too, need to save up though. Kontrol49 is too big for me, Padkontrol is too advanced. The nano series is pretty clever, good cheap alternative. Thanks for the sub! I'll try to keep it interesting ;)

  • Whoot! Well I'm sure I'll be having questions and such. And I'll be getting a KP3 before I get serious about a padkontrol. I already have a kaossilator, so that + a MKXL will be awesome with a kp3.

    :p "drools"

  • That Was SICK!!!... =))

  • wow thanks... I wish the beatboxing was better though :|

  • you're great :)

  • you're nice!

  • very nice tune

  • thanks! :)

  • Hi! Great vid! I'm trying to set up Logic 8 with my MK XL, so thjat I can play the MK XL's sound on my Max w/ Logic, but it doesn't work. Wopuld you have any hints or know ressources I could find? Thanks!

  • Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Logic and I only have a microKORG not an XL. So I can't really help you out. Sorry.
