  • omg what is this . Bless youtube. Too late!

Tak for det her mystiske vaerk!

  • I love the sonorities of the Danish language. When a Dane talks to us, it sounds like if he is telling us a story. Greetings from France !

  • @AlexMoby

    Merci ;)

  • anybody know what key this is in?

Nogle år for sent måske, desværre. Hvad med at smide "Valø slotsbrand" eller "Vi der vælger regnen" op? Måske "en lørdags aften så kom op til mig" selvom han ikke selv synger den

    ?

  • Many thanX 4 ur time & translation! Actually, by googlin' a word from "ur" text -the "Guldtavl" - I could easily find original danish lyrics with some explanations concernin' this epic story ("Studieportalen.dk , for "Harpens kraft"). Readin' in danish seemed to B not a big problem (with the help of ur pretty close translation I must add!) Hilsen fra Holland! xD

  • Yes, plz: THE LYRICS! (If possible!) xD

  • @Hollandia777 Alright lyric, I've intentionally withheld the chorus, since it's very long :D Hr. Vellemand and his newly wed bride They played Guldtavl (a medieval boardgame of gold) in their room Everytime the Guldtavl struck the table, as many tears the maiden fell. "why do you cry for the red gold? Or do you cry because you've become my wife? Or do you cry because I am not rich? Or do you cry because I am not your equal?"

  • @Hollandia777 "I don't cry for the red gold. And if was by my will that I became your wife. I cry far more for Blide bridge the one I have to ride across. There my two sisters drowned, when they let their wedding stand." "You shall not cry for Blide, my huscarls shall with you ride, My huscarls shall with you ride. A hundred at oth your sides." He lets the horse be shoed with goldshoes. And then she rides to Blidebro. When she came on the bridge, the horsefalls on the golden shoes.

  • @Hollandia777 Her horse fell on fifteen nails. Down fell the maiden in the ferocious(?) stream. The maiden streched her white hand up, "my noble Lord help me to the shore." "Oh God and the holy ghost help you, when I cannot." "Hr Vellemand speaks to a small boy "You go gather my golden Harp "Vellemand took the harp into his hands. He walks into the stream, he plays the harp gently, not a bird moved in the trees. He played the harp strongly, and it was heard in every hall.

  • @Hollandia777 The bark sprung from the oaken wood. And the horns of the cattle broke (tranlated from Bøvende which actually mean something I have no idea of how to translate) The bark sprung from the birch, and the top of Marie's church, Then he played the harp with wrath, and his bride flew from the trolls arms. then he played the harp with all its strength, and the troll came up from the buttom. Up came the troll woth Vellemands wife in his mouth, not his wife alone, but both her fair sisters.

  • @Hollandia777 "Vellemand Vellemand take your wife. Just led me rule in the underground." "Gladly I shall talk my wife, but never shall you rule in the underground." He lifted her and her noble clothes, unto the Graymare (I think it's right) Vellemand rode under island, and drank wedding with his wife. Done :) and I apologize if it's hard to understand, my translation is probably flawed in many ways, but even in danish it's old words.

  • im very happy i got Danish in my ancestory.................Norwegian too!

  • @Uglemugle Yes!!! i.czaplicka4@gmal.com

  • Sounds like old Frisian or Groningen folk music, from the regions in the North of the Netherlands! (Also, people there can understand up to 50% of the danish words).

    Great music, many thanx!

  • Jeg har lige hørt en fantastisk norsk folkesang. Fik gåsehud da hun begyndte at synge.

    Den hedder:

    Liti kjersti (Norsk folkesang)

  • @flashog

Only if you don't understand the words...

  • I love all Scandinavian Folk music. No clue what their saying, but then to me, their voice is simply another instrument. And what a beautiful instrument it is.

  • Very nice!

  • Frode Veddinge, en sand pioner i dansk folkemusik. En skam at lyden er saa dårlig.
