  • Still not as sexy as the uh-1 Huey

  • does anybody know what the spear like thing in front section of the helicopter is

  • @myalniz those spearlike things are refueling tubes. The reason for the length is to get clearance from the rotors.

  • CARE PACKAGE!

  • get to the chopper

  • 1:35 helping the farmers with the hay bails

  • It can land on water? AWESOME

  • i found this funny cause juste before the clip,i saw a bud light beer commercial with a chinook helicopter carrying a container, what a cohensidence

  • u gotta be kidding me - putting chinook and only 1 MI on the list, this is TOP TEN plus american helicopters plus token soviet , sorry.

  • a chinook flew over my house the other day but quite low and i was scared

  • Mi-26 is better!!

  • @SpacewolfCZ No it is not. Russia helis are trash. They look great, but talk to any experienced pilot who has flown both russian and western helicopters- they'll explain it to you.

  • the CH-47 is undoubtedly one the best choppers ever and extremely versatile, but if were talking size, nothing beats the CH-53E Super Stallion as the mighty sized combat chopper king!

  • chinook is one of the best!!

  • Coreect me if im wrong, but cant you have another machin gun on its ramp?

  • @spartanelete Yeah or a minigun.

  • NO FEAR FACTOR!!!!

im sorry but if i see one of those things im booking it

  • ch-47 Shinhoook

  • one of my dogs is named after this helicopter!

  • did you know??BOEING was founded by a german called böing, and thats why boeing is so kool

  • @waddlerobloxxxx Germans make all the best stuff... dammit... -_-

  • Why do they paint the combat helicopters green? Shouldn't they resemble the colors of the sky to avoid eye detection? I mean the enemy (Iraqi and Afghan militants) hardly have any radar technology at hand.

  • @tukkajumala The Camoflage is to help it from ground attack, also if its going at 100mph doesnt matter if its got camoflage, it will get noticed

  • @tukkajumala well from what i know, militarise have a specific paint that cools the insides of the aircraft when hot and keeps it warm when its cold. i know this because a seargant told me last week in the Australian Army. the green type of paint used on the M777A2 is what i was talking about

  • @tukkajumala Ikr, Since when did the Taliban have modern radar technology.....

  • @tukkajumala because anything logical you do not rate. During both Iraq Conflicts they issued us Woodland camoed MOPP suits. I'm assuming the reason behind it was because they are cheaper.

  • @tukkajumala Actually, I thought in Iraq and Afghan they use the Chinooks that are grey and light baby blue. The dark olive green as you said was used in Vietnam

  • @tukkajumala

because certain craft are so big there is no way to hide them.

its like painiting a C5 blue and saying "oh its so hard to see it cant be hit" when really its a flying city

if you threw a gryahound bus in the sky itd be hard to miss even if you put camo on it

  • @tukkajumala u can hear them way befor u see them.

  • @tukkajumala They don't try to hide when flying, they challenge motherfuckers to hit them. They are green so that cowardly assholes can't find them when they are asleep on the ground.

  • The CH-47 has a safer flying record than a CH-53. I logged 960 flight hours as FE.

  • 5 kill streak care package inbound mark the DC.

  • Wow...outdated info bigger than sh!t! Still a good video though. And the top speed...hahhahaha.... way more than that...

  • Woot Chinook! Us Canadians bought four from our brother Americans!

  • the chinook is able to land on water because the raf use it to recover the SBS it basically lands on the water and the boat drier drives straight into the chinook the us navy seals use the exact same technique with the chinook or its variant the sea knight

  • The Chinook is one of the best helicopters around. I am amazed at the agility and flying capacity of this helicopter. I am sad at the decommissioning of the Sky Crane but hope that the Chinook stands the test of time and stays in service for a long time.

  • Back in '75-'77 my uncle was a mechanic for these bad boys with the 242nd Aviation Company "Sugar Bears" up in Alaska. He's told me a lot of interest stuff, like how he forgot his ear plugs one day and had to work next to one of its screaming turbine engines for 2 hours, which caused him to lose a lot of hearing in his right ear.

No fear factor? Well, I guess they haven't seen the Gunship version....

  • it's an effin covenant transport of the real life variety. it can hold two opposing mini guns as well.

  • i was wathing this SAS thing on bio and they said that the chinook could be shot down by a ak-47 so the troops in the back had to work fast

  • Nice video, first at time stamp 27 seconds and 2:59 show CH-46, a small error. Also the Ch-53E does out lift the -47. Capable of 32,000 lbs (16 tons).

  • @ch46f More than that, if I remember right 74,000 lbs max gross weight on a super stallion, whereas the chinook is 50K lbs. Though it is actually a 'heavy lift' class helicopter as opposed to the chinook being 'medium lift'.

  • i cant believe that this baby flew with the classic huey and she still looks new

  • If this is a medium transport helicopter i'd love too see how big a heavy one is.

  • @MrCommunismftw CH-56 Sikorsky, try that.

  • @MrCommunismftw The largest Cargo Helicopter that is used is ridiculous. It's russian made, Mi-something

  • @phreakyeggz ohh let my gues !

it's the one with 8 rotor blades ?!

  • @MrCommunismftw I think the pawelow is a heavy transport heli...

  • @MrCommunismftw Mil Mi - 26 Halo ....

  • @MrCommunismftw two words: Super Stallion! the CH-53E is a fucking massive chopper!

  • screw fear factor, only attach helicopters are going to get a good rating in this category, which messes up the scale on which all choppers are rated.

  • @MrCommunismftw A Sikorsky Skycrane...

  • @MrCommunismftw lol look for the russian one ;)

  • @MrCommunismftw try the CH53

  • @MrCommunismftw

    look up "CH-53 Echo"

  • @futurejarhead0311 you mean the Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion?

  • @MrCommunismftw Fuck the CH-53, look at the MI-26. Biggest helicopter around

  • @MrCommunismftw look up the mh-53 pave low

  • I know someone thats a pilot of the chinook, and he was in afghanistan and he got shot down luckily he survived,as everyone else did in it

  • Even the name "Chinook" is cool. Say it..."Chinook"..AWESOME :)

  • How could a Chinook be number 7? It deserves a top 3 place!

  • ive gotten the privilege to ride one for my JROTC class

it was fun as hell i loved everything about it

  • This iron coffin #7? O_o

  • Its bit every day you see a Jeep drive out of a chopper is it.

  • @TheFalconryFan Yea, may be it's bigger, but when it comes to lifting weights, Mi-26 is way ahead.

  • This helicopter is number one in practicality. Forget attack versus cargo. That's a stupid comparison. I help build this bitch. Of course I'm a bit biased, but this is one bad mother effer.

  • No fear factor? What, the threat of a wave of 55 troops or several artillery guns isn't fearful? GTFO.

  • undefeated heavyweight champ is Mi-26:

    - 80 troops, 60 litters

    - 20,000 kg cargo (44,000 lb)

    - Max takeoff weight: 56,000 kg (123,500 lb)

There were two incidents in 2002 where leased Mi-26 was used by US Army to recover two downed Chinooks in Afghanistan.

  • @AryssSkaHara Yea but its really to big to be a battlefield chopper and its not to nimble its complicated to fly and if it gets hit about a 100 people are wounded but it is perfect for use behind the frontlines and theres less then 300 made

  • That's a medium size helicopter? Looks massive to me.

  • top ten list is a joke you don't put combat and transport choppers in same list.

  • why there is a fear factor think of it what if this thing was coming at you and your buds with a full load of troops and their guns and the armor on this thing... ud be pissing your pants

  • @TheFalconryFan

No one (who is a responsible adult) blames Britain, or even BP, for the Gulf Oil Spill, it's a dangerous business on land, and this was underwater, on a mobile oil rig.

    Really.

There are a LOT of angry US Kooks in the US, and they are embarassing.

    Sorry about that.

Apparently, they wanted ANOTHER check from the government so they could get a great deal FATTER and LAZIER, and NOT have to work for a living, or defend their country.

    Once again, sorry about them.

  • While I don't doubt the Chinook is a superb aircraft and has a long and distinguished career, I think the 'heavyweight champ' title should go to the Mi-26.

  • @artieroo its not combat tested enough and personally it cant be used on the front lines if it gets hit you gotta clean up about 90 people

  • @TheFalconryFan That dosn't even make sense!!

  • FASTER THAN APACHE?!

    that's pretty f-ing sweet XDXD

  • I still don't get how it can turns???

  • it can land on water! WOW!! (y) EPIC

  • Should win hands down!! The Yanks nicked off the Brits and claimed it as their own! O Well the Americans are very good at stealing glory from other countries....

  • @tankcommander94 wanna explain how America "stole" the ch47 chinook along with the other things

  • @steel939 Enter WW1 in 1917 and say you helped win it! Then WW2 you sat around doing fuck all until Pearl Harbor! Then you come and use the land that Britain and her allies e.g. Russia have fought over e.g North Africa and claim them as your own! You are most likely going to reply with a load of American bull crap which I and the vast majority if the world do not believe. America believes it won, but hay you got have arrogant pricks in the world! T

  • @tankcommander94 Do you have any idea how you sound. Me personally the way you describe Americans as stupid and arrogant i would think you are one. Also im sure your gonna respond talking about something that is gonna try to defend me but when it comes down to it I more then likely wont care theres no since in trying to change our thoughts.

  • @steel939 You have just backed up my point!! Well done Mr American :)

  • @tankcommander94 like wise by the way im not american

  • @steel939 <3!!!

  • @tankcommander94 hell yeah we are! now, if you'll exuse me, i need to go eat some mcdonalds

    AMERICA FTW

  • @JWR618 Yeah go America! 50% of your population are obese or morbidly obese! You have the 5th lowest academic age in the First World! And yet you see yourself as a superpower?? Hah im laughing at you not with you! America will fall way quicker then the British empire did because nobody except Americans give a shit about you. You havn't even won a war by yourself!! Even your massive military that your 'Mom' is so proud of is bought off borrowed chinese money!! Haha you are EPUC FAILS!!

  • @tankcommander94 well thats all so swell, but then why does everyone keep moving here? and btw bigmacs ftw :)

  • @JWR618 You are kidding me right?? More people leave the USA then enter. In the early 20th Century yes more people moved to the US because of the widespread international violence. But now, I'm afraid to say that people have un-masked the true America and are leaving!

The new superpowers are the EU and China!!

  • @tankcommander94 i is teh scared now!!!! no.

  • @JWR618 Well continue being your mindless arrogant self then. Have a nice day :)

  • @tankcommander94 thank you :)

  • @tankcommander94 Too bad the EU isn't a country, and cannot, therefore, be deemed a superpower. :(

  • @burreaucracy A collaboration of states can be deemed as superpower if sufficient economic and social standards are met. The US technically is not a country its a collected group of states. The original 13 states belonged to Britain, the others to the Natives and the French. The US is not a single country, but yet they are supposdly a superpower!

  • @tankcommander94 Okay to your superpower definition. But the rest of the answer made me laugh. :D The US technically is a country because all the states answer to a federal government. The American Revolution fixed the whole "Colonies are British" issue. Yes, the US is a single country. You don't see California waging war on Cuba, do you? No. You don't. The US as a whole does that. Saying the US is not a country is like saying France is not a country, but a lot of provinces.

  • @burreaucracy All French States abide by a single law. America has different laws depending on the states, do you not?? Any state has the right to declare war legally through congress it it feels that its interests and citizens are under threat. After the French beat the British in the Revolutionary war, all American colonies retained the right to practice free freedom of expression. One of which is to declare a state of war.

  • @tankcommander94 US states abide by Federal laws and regulations. If the Federal government issues a law, states cannot overrule it with their own law. Yeah, states can make their own laws but are answerable to the Fed. And, as I just did my research, only the US Congress can declare war, and then troops would be brought up from State National Guards, or just regular military. Freedom of expression =/= declaring war. The colonists weren't exactly sitting around watching the French fight for 'em.

  • @burreaucracy The colonialists couldn't have won the war by themselves. Without the French, America would be British. To support this fact I have History on my side. Despite your massive army your country has never won a single war by itself. Amazing that, despite you being so patriotic and such a bully you cant prove that you have ever won a war by yourself:)

  • @tankcommander94 Yeah, I never said the Colonists would have won without the French. They couldn't have. But neither did they just chill in New Jersey and let the French win it for them. How is proving that the US is not 50 individual countries being patriotic, and being a bully? Nicetrytho. I recall your man Churchill asking the US for weapons before we entered WWII. What exactly has your country won by itself? Certainly not too many. -shrug-

  • @burreaucracy You are saying that the largest empire ever to exist on Earth never won any war's by itself??? Now that takes some real arrogance to argue. The British first of all, smashed the French in the Napoleonic Wars. They beat the Russians in the Crimean war, they won every pitched land battled against American Colonialists and French in America. They took Quebec, they won the Falklands war and crushed all the tribes in India. All by themselves. America+ Vietnam= FAIL!!!

  • @tankcommander94 I see that you did not answer the fact that your Prime Minister had to call in the Yanks when the Germans were knocking on your doorstep. -shrug- But who really cares? Only you, it seems. You didn't, either, answer the question about how saying that the US is not 50 different countries is being a bully...

  • @burreaucracy Yes Winston Churchill called for American support. I never disputed that fact. What I'm saying is that it is inaccurate and unfair to say that America won the war by itself. Britain called on Canada, South Africa, India, New Zealand and australia to fight for Freedom. After Winston pledged for support from america it took nearly 9 months for you to act. Britain held its ground against Germany you helped but you didn't 'win'. So get that misguided though out your head!!

  • @tankcommander94 Who's being a bully now? -coughyoucough-

  • @burreaucracy What are you on about?? You ask me a question then call me a bully!? This is how you are a bully. The BP oil crisis is all over your news at the moment. You are blaming the British Company for an oil spill that Americans caused. The rig was built by Americans, the equipment was American and the personal, American! Why are you blaming Britain?? Then your President acts all hard just to please your people!! America is attempting to bully Britain and we are just laughing at you!!!! :)

  • @tankcommander94 And it is my fault that you are getting blamed because...?

  • @burreaucracy It's just American society in general. We hate the others and because we clearly are the best country in the world we will show this by picking on smaller, weaker countries such as Vietnam. Ohhh wait we got kicked out of there if forgot. But because we are American we still technically won some how (This is where American blames Britain for Oil crisis). All national pride and all that shit!!. Have a nice day Mr american:)

  • The blades on the animation are spinning the wrong way.

  • Waw never know that can go water impressive !!

  • No it can only hold 80 troops but honestly that thing is a monster it can lift a chinook

  • i no its a flying tank but it can only cary 8 guys

  • @dvdprui but look, that lists of: "best helicopters", "best tanks", orn "best weapons" it's a propaganda, there are allways a Americans items

  • @ylma4 one of them was a hind ( Mi- 24 )

    Which is from the USSR

  • @ylma4 Maybe there is always an American item because we have very good "Items"

  • id rate the chinook a 10 !

    best flying bus ever

  • never knew it could land on water thats impressive.

  • @TheRabbitFear holy bubbls along the side maybe?

  • @TheRabbitFear yeah it has a watertight belly... still impressive though

  • 2:59 is a sea knight is it not? The CH-46 used by the navy rather then CH-47 by army or air force

  • @SheepJumpFish Also used by the Marine Corps. At time mark 27 seconds window shot looking out are Ch-46's.

  • Info is a little outdated... T55-L-714 Engines now... Army doesn't have the 712s and I have never flown without my tail gunner...

There are two types of helicopters in the Army... Chinooks and slingloads

  • this video is from october 2008, i don't know if that makes it any more accurate though.

  • Whats the point of having fearfactor for utility helicopters?

  • Well, I suppose it's because it's the fear of what it brings.

  • tail gunners? iono

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong

How much stuff it can carry?

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong This list is for helicopters of all types, not just one type.

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong so the troopers are scared anytime they step on one :P

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong Because soldiers will say ''Holy shit! A shit load of enemy troops coming!

    Nah. Just kidding

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong

Terrorists : oh hey look! a chinook deploying 55 soldiers!

lol just kidding with ya ;)

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong so it's not attacked by small arms fire

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong To tell the enemy this is my cargo and well you know u don't want a weak looking helicopter hard to explain but who cares this is such a great helicopter!

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong nothing ! thats is why is low !

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong preventing being shot at?

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong I would be scared of a MH-47!

  • @GUnitSeanAKAmong to see if they can scare militants into not shooting them with rpgs.

  • hey...what does the jp stand for in jp5.....jet propulsion?

  • jet petroleum

  • If Ch-47 is a medium transport, then what is a heavy transport?

  • this is what my MOS is in the army Chinook Crew Chief

  • at 2:59 it shows ch-46 sea kings instead

  • sure does, but its called a sea knight. sea king was the sh-3.

  • I thought that but I think you mean CH-46 sea knight, the sea king is a sh-3 SAR helicopter, or atleast in the RAF is SAR

  • 1:22 is impessive . They are pretty loud the downdraft would probably blow you away if ur under 160lbs im 183 & i had a lil trouble keeping my balance . its a very useful aircraft kind of like a f-550 tow truck Lol @ its bigger than a Cayus NO SHIT MAN. I wonder if the dude takin shit & sayin blackhawks are easy to fly has ever flown a helo probably not just some fuckin fruitcake runnin his mouth

  • i agree with aaidas the us army contracted a civilian Mi-26 to airlift a chinook out of the afgan mountians....nuff said.

and from what i understand most helo candidates try for apaches, not trash haulers. blackhawks are for lazy ass pilots, too easy to fly, a lot of them need to be retained to fly "real" heli's after they spent a while on blackhawks

chinooks are cool but not not the be all end all of us helis

  • thats my girl!

  • this thing is the Tank of Helicopters

  • The KA-50 and AH-64 are tanks with blades, that's a transport helicopter

  • undefeated heavyweitght? what 'bout the Mi 26 Halo? once described as a 747 with rotos -_-

  • its like a bus with proppellers and guns

  • CH-53 is very good

  • interesting how the CH-47 is a boeing,yet the CH-53 is a sikorsky aircraft.I don't understand.

  • this thing is loud as hell you can hear it miles away

  • It is fast as hell. Helicopter Pilot candidates hope for this or the blackhawk

  • it should be a heavy transport helicopter

  • About damn time Canada bought some of these!

  • i'll bet this helicopter makes alot of noise too! lol

  • They fly over my house all the time and they actually rattle the windows. Usually they are alone but sometimes fly in pairs, from the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade of the MN National Guard. Pretty cool to see them, hope I helped XD

  • its bigger than oh-6 cayuse

  • No that wasnt the was the British Royal Marines.

  • Soz my bad there were*

  • Chinooks kicks Ass

  • thats embarrassing: cargo heli. can outrun attack heli.

  • why?

  • MI-26 Halo is the biggest and most powerfull helicopter in the world

  • MI-26 is the biggest and most powerfull

why would people thumb 21 down?

  • 1:25 wow... thats, impresive
