My Math Teacher said "Retarded" when I was in 9th grade because it was in the name of this organization and kids laughed and my teacher wasn't angry, he was just confused why they laughed so the whole class had a an in depth discussion about how the word "Retarded" had transformed in meaning and how it was used improperly by a lot of people. I use the word "retarded" but for comedic purposes. I feel that the definition of the word "retard" has changed over the years, at least it has in me.  I don't feel that mentally challenged people are "retards" because often times, they are smarter than able bodied kids (especially in today's society). It's just a personal opinion. But I can see how some people would take offense to it. I do agree that everyone should be respectful of other's feelings and watch what they say. :)
