Such a profound piece from such a young woman, it gave me goosebumps. My mother always said that Israelis worked so hard to make the desert bloom that every jealous braying donkey around her wants to gobble up the fruits of her labor (the donkey part is mine). I'm an Arab, a muslim Arab, and I think the main reason behind the Arab/Israeli conflict is the media. Here in the MidEast, the media portrays Israel as the bad guy, killing and assaulting Palestinians everday. Whereas in the West, however, the media portrays Israel as the good guy, just defending its territories from casual terrorist attacks by the Palestinians. I think that the Arab/Israeli conflict can be solved by neutral media and a little sacrifice from both sides.

I feel if the Arab governments would absorb the Palestinians in the same way Israel absorbed the 900,000 Jews around the middle east who were forced to leave their homes in 1947 then there would be peace. Right now it looks like the Palestinians are scapegoats in a proxy war against the Jewish state. The Arabs have 700 times more land - it's not about land is it? It's about not wanting a non-Arab majority state in the region.

@heatcooker1 I am an American Jew. I also think that the media portrays things in a skewed manner... However it is hard to deny that Palestinian rockets are aimed at civilian population centers. I also think that sometimes Israelis conducts themselves in a manner which is less than conducive to peace though not as a policy. The big difference is that the Israeli army is not intentionally shelling children's school buses and the radical religious Jews are held a bay.

This is a very beautiful song by Yedida Freilich. @meddetect10 There was a couple of months about 8 years ago that this was true. Although a positive spin was put on it as the kids in school would decorate there Gas Mask boxes. So you had mobile art galleries (being carried by children) all over the Country. Thank G-d we did not need them. Now, while some have gas masks, you so not see it.
That was during the Gulf War in 1991 when Sadam Hussein sent us rockets and threatened they would contain chemical warfare. The rockets destroyed buildings in central Israel. Miracle after miracle saved all but 3 civilians, none of whom were hit by an actual rocket, but from heart attack or misuse of gasmask (forgetting to remove the cap so suffocating). The entire Jewish State was threatened with extermination by . gas 50 years after Auschwitz.
@Leoniela That may have been so in 1991, but in 2002/2003 there was also a mandatory gas mask order. It was not long after I moved to Israel, so it was all quite exciting.

To die because one uses a gas mask incorrectly or has a heart attack due to the circumstances? How is this exciting? I still see reminders of the Katyusha rockets in my cousin's home. I think we can all learn a deep lesson from this song. Not just about Israel, this shows how bad religious discrimination in our world is, and not just towards Jews - Muslims and other religions as well. Growing up in the 60's, I could never understand the things that happened in Europe. Being a human and having a heart, soul and brain. It seemed to me that having any one of them would not allow for such things.

I also think that sometimes Israelis conducts themselves in a manner which is less than conducive to peace though not as a policy. The big difference is that the Israeli army is not intentionally shelling children's school buses and the radical religious Jews are held a bay.

@meddetect10 There was a couple of months about 8 years ago that this was true. Although a positive spin was put on it as the kids in school would decorate there Gas Mask boxes. So you had mobile art galleries (being carried by children) all over the Country. Thank G-d we did not need them. Now, while some have gas masks, you so not see it.

That was during the Gulf War in 1991 when Sadam Hussein sent us rockets and threatened they would contain chemical warfare. The rockets destroyed buildings in central Israel. Miracle after miracle saved all but 3 civilians, none of whom were hit by an actual rocket, but from heart attack or misuse of gasmask (forgetting to remove the cap so suffocating). The entire Jewish State was threatened with extermination by . gas 50 years after Auschwitz.

To die because one uses a gas mask incorrectly or has a heart attack due to the circumstances? How is this exciting? I still see reminders of the Katyusha rockets in my cousin's home. I think we can all learn a deep lesson from this song. Not just about Israel, this shows how bad religious discrimination in our world is, and not just towards Jews - Muslims and other religions as well. Instead of helping each other and creating a peaceful world for future generations, we all just fight about silly things. 'Only Israel doesn't have a right to defend itself.' That's fair, I like that line as it speaks out about the way the Western world infringes on Israel's self defense laws but seriously - "Because the world cares nothing about Jewish blood." That's just insulting and I am Jewish, that actually made me cringe.
In this situation (Middle Eastern conflict) Israel is the top dog more often than not; we shouldn't play the pity card. We do, however, have every right to defend ourselves.

Great song and video! I am living in Brazil too-- the only country I know (including Israel) without antisemitism. There will be no peace in the middle east because Iran and Hisbollah do not want it (why should they want peace? They and the Turks want to dominate now that Obama has turned out so weak for the US). If all the new democratic governments in the area would approach Israel with a real peace plan, the Palestinian problem would vanish in a week. Perhaps this could happen someday--

This video is very moving. As a college student, I see how people are blinded to what's going on in the world, how they attack Israel and defend Palestine, not even acknolweding faults on both sides as they usually do. I was confused why they held such beliefs and did research and still could not fathom such thinking. I had never heard of Gilad Shalit, until I researched him and it's sad how media here in the U.S. ignores this. If the situation was switched would it be different?

@TheAnimatorEqualizer Let us face the truth! Israel just cannot trust the Arabs in and around it that they actually agree with Israel's existence. Too many times the Israeli haters did show their truth- they do not mean real peace but only the destruction of Israel. With all sympathy to the Pallestinians they did not prove to be trusted. @TheAnimatorEqualizer - this is important, because I really felt the song, but the point I took exception to was show praying Muslims, as if ALL the religion feels that way. As you say, true Muslims, my Cousin, know Islam, and that's why it's so confusing to me - we are Cousins, after all! :-)

Growing up in the 60's, I could never understand the things that happened in Europe. Being a human and having a heart, soul and brain. It seemed to me that having any one of them would not allow for such things.
But here we are. It is happening again. The media is not reporting it. The people not yet in great danger ignore it and wish it away. 9/11 forgotten and seen as a one time event.
