It's not that hard to repair the board he is saying is hard to fix. I have never soldered anything n my life, but I had to replace 2 capacitors and did it my self for 5 dollars. And my tv works like new again.
@TheBossemmanuel - i know i wish i had a camera man but i'm just showing the logic boards that i replaced to fix the video problem i had, i found out it was common repair for this tv, & wanted to share it with others in need. but i did mention it was AU board & T-con board, no parts just boards replacement here. ;-)
you can still get a bad electric shock of a tv what isnt plugged in from componants that store electricity your messing with that tv with bare feet on a carpet not grounded to anything this is quite dangerouse if you ask me
damn bro ,your in Tampa ? I'm in Lakeland and have a thin line on the left hand side of my samsung lcd , about 2" from the left...it changes colors from red , yellow to green...what do you charge for a diagnoses ? it happens mostly when its cold at start up...its been a great tv for a few years.
@Flatzout7 - my buddy does tv repair for living cheaper than most, 813 802 8787 lcd & plasma specialists, repair shop. will even take tv down off wall & hang on wall for an low fee. he sells used tv.s too.
How hard and costly is it to fix a Toshiba 52LX177 52 inch that is ghosting on the right half of the screen? Thats my neighbors. He is bummed. Oh, I subbed. And thanks. Mine was a cable problem.
@Greggg57 - might be caps in powersupply or con-board but 1st unplug tv & cablebox for 1minute then plug power back in. this will reset it. but this repair at a repair shop can cost up to $400 or around $100 or less if you fix it yourself. I was a tv tech for a few years.
You didn't explain anything about checking voltages except reading the ones stamped on the board..Then what? Is this tv plugged in right now? After you read the voltages printed there, what do you do? Also, I totally agree with your comment about taking pictures as you go along--do the same thing when repairing car engines! I clicked the 'like' button.
@Greggg57 - if the dc volts are bad check caps in powersupply, but if the powersupply is good I would swap the boards like shown in this video but make sure your cables or cable box isn't the issue 1st, good luck

my sony tv started showing grey colour that initially lasted a few seconds, i thought it was just connection problem. the colour started becoming more prominent and turned out it wasn't connection problems. the colour shows its ugliness in darker pictures while brighter pictures show no detectable problem. the best way i can describe the bad colour is as faint horizontal grey lines. its intensity and presence have both started to become increasingly detectable. what could be the problem?
Hi mate i am having a problem with my lcd (Sony 32EX400) the problem is that it flickers or blinks black .... Sometimes the whole screen and sometimes portions of the screen horizontally . I am using it with my Pc and Ps3 and i have tried different HDMI ports , cables , laptop and the PC VGA port but the problem still presists . What could be the problem man i have been troubleshooting since 3 days .. But still no luck
@MrMorganite1 And one more thing it sometimes flickers black on half of the screen either bottom or top but are only horizontal .. and sometimes the whole screen wents black for 1/10th second but mostly its half screen flickering .
Having problems with my tv ( sony kdl-40z4100). I can hear sound but the screen is totally bright, once I turn it on its ok but after a few seconds it turns bright white!!! Can you please help me please!!!
@spsbroly - check dc volts out of the powersupply if bad change powersupply becareful cause tv must be turn on while doing this, but if the volts are good then next I would check t-con board these boards are labeled, also try squeezing the frame of the panel and see if the picture returns to normal Sony had made tvs a batch of defective panels that failed a few years later, if thats the case contact sony to see if your tv has a recall on it. if it's a bad panel it costs too much to fix :-(
Hey, I have a KDL 40S-4100. I don't hear sound and I don't get a picture. The power light comes on solid, but nothing changes other than that. Any advice?
@MrOsbomike - check the dc volts coming out of the powersupply should be labeled on Sony board usaully, but sounds like mainboard perhaps if the light is green, is this correct does the screen light up but no picture? (had vizio do that once, it was main logic board $190) check my blog for sony tech 800#
my tv is a sony kdl 37p3020 and it has got a faint thick line going down and it is only visble when the tv displays dark colours. what do you think is and is there a way to resolve it because i like the tv.
@samz1245 - sounds like ic on a video board try to see if power supply is outputting the correct dc volts to the other board check for loose connections & becareful too
i have a sony kdl-46s4600, when i turn it on, i get a green light, but no picture no sound. doesnt matter what source i use. cable/hdmi/rca, anything. tried manual reset and unplugging nothing seems to work. im going to have to open her up and have a look. any suggestions?
Hi, i have a sony bravia KDL 37V4000, 2 wks ago i turned it on and it was like the brightness had been turned on super full, its so bright its like i can see the light criss cross pattern on the screen, when i turn the brightness down, it doesnt seem to do anything. which circuit board controls that function, i dont even know where to start looking or how to test components, i live in the mountains, and i'm fucked.
@TheRuralGrowerMan - is TV brightness on all inputs like when you play dvd and brightness on cable tv input? it' sound like video ic is bad call Sony to verify, the 800 # is on my tampatec.blogspot., the board is around $200 at searsdirectparts they will mail it to you just unplug tv and swap the boards but take digital pics of the connectors you unplug, tv repair can cost you $400, so it's worth a shot. also Sony might give you a discount on new tv if your old one took a sht. ask a mngr
@Tampatec hi, i managed to track a site down that has parts for my tv, well, 3 boards actually, these are what they have Backlight Inverter, Main Board, Power Supply, they are all fairly cheap, but i dont know what one i need, was thinking of just buying back light inverter, and main board, surley that would fix my problem, wouldnt it?. i'm going to make a short vid of the tv when its on, and put it up on my channel, so you can see it.
how many red light blinks are you getting from the standby light on the front tv panel? thats a code that will help you troubleshoot your tv, see also if you have steady DC volts coming out from the power supply, check for swollen capacitors in the power supply. Main board might be bad if power supply is good.
and we were watching the tv and all of a sudden the picture turns off and theres nothing but sound we called sony and they tolld us to turn the tv off and unplug it for a minute and plug it back in but that still didnt work. do you know what might be wrong?

@UpNorthLiving2011 cold solder on control board I believe. it's hard to repair if tiny solder joints are on dual sided logic board, just send board out to a logic board repair center.

@uleemoore - yes soldering caps are easy but i meant the small microchips that are soldered on the double sided logic board.
