The way it should have been done is to generate the vertexes on the fly instead of using a model anyway (if I knew then what I know now etc..). it is not a trivial change, but would be a good way to learn how to manipulate vertexes :-) I would say: have a look at the code and just generate the starting vertexes (instead of getting them from the model). email me if you get stuck. you can find my addy on my blog
Cheetah 3D '.jas' file importing is not supported on Windows... :( got any ideas how to go about fixing that? I had an idea on how to use this...plus I wanted to try & figure out how u did it even if I am a beginner. Truly amazing to be able to do this on your own and you did it without Unity Pro too.
@Jaser200 nm I got it working! It still says importing not supported which is why I thought it wasn't working even the plane is in the scene. I just didn't put the materials and scripts in the right place(automatically has them missing in scene) Thanks so much! :D Hopefully I can use this as a base for my own game. You deserve tons of props, not to mention lots of good paying job offers!
wow. . dude, how did you reached this eliteness in programming? was it your school? books? i've been working and studying programming with unity for the past 4 months, and i can't still think of on how you made this.
@ProjectWS2010 Thanks man, it was actually based on another algorithm, you can read the specifics at the link in the description .. To answer your question, i probably got to this level simply by surviving :-) I have been working on computers since the mid 80's :-)
Excellent effect. Just being curious, does this effect can be created on a window computer? ... I know maybe it won't look like this but just to learn this great effect.
Though this is truly amazing, I suggest a little more polish. The surface is very... unrealistic. I suggest using the reflective/diffuse shader for a shinier look, or even scripting your own shader. If you can do this, I doubt you will have trouble scripting a shader.
@JohnnyGTR34 Thanks Johnny. I agree that using a better image than a slightly photoshopped picture of a blue tarp would lend much more realism to the scene :-) I actually built this for another guy who then added the photorealistic images for the texture and other nice bits (to make a fish simulation that was interactive so when you touched the surface, the 'water' rippled. and the fish swam around towards your touches as if you were feeding them.
Damn

@shwingie300 This song is definitely one of the movements of Mozart's Requiem with a beat and piano underneath. Look up Mozart's Requiem Lacrimosa

Can this be used in games, or does it take to much processor power? Cuz it would be a very cool effect to have in an RPG or FPS game!! Nice work!!

Overall... I am jealous of your skill.
