THIS is amazing...to actually see this band perform live....I have most of their recordings, live in the USA, so Ive never saw them peform. I love RIO, Zappa, the Italian prog band AREA
HEAVY, HEAVY version... has to be a tribute to Ochs as he died that year (1976), or did they play it earlier? Check the clip elsewhere on You Tube of Ochs filmed miming to 'No More Songs' whilst standing in a ruined building where the graffiti "Earth Love it or leave it" is sprayed.
Yes. Thanks for posting this. Henry Cow were one of my favourite bands (saw them a few times) and Dagmar is absolutely peerless. Her 'Tank Battles' is worth a few hundred listens. As is anything by Art Bears.
Phil Ochs' antiwar song "I Ain't Marching Anymore" is one of the most powerful songs ever written.. brings me to tears. I'm pleased to learn that Henry Cow covered one of his tunes. ♥
Far out. The Most Intimidating Vocalist In Art/Progressive Rock in all her glory. And at this time, from what I understand, she was not in the best of health.
Which only makes this performance all the more remarkable.
And D definitely want to point out that she is one heck of a singer, even if her voice takes a little getting used to (and some can never deal with Krause's singing).
True. Art Bears was Krause, Cutler and Frith. Tim Hodgkinson and Lindsay Cooper didn't play with Art Bears, to the best of my knowledge, not live anyway. Georgina Born played bass on the first Art Bears album, but none of the rest of them.
Not quite true - they always claimed that the name was just "in the air" and crying out to be used. They never said that they got it from Cowell. But they might have been being disingenuous.
It's a big emotion to see and not only listening Henry Cow after more than 30 years. I was lucky to see them in Italy near Venice in 1977 wher they played also this songs. One of best band ever...
The fact that this amazing video was made available after 33 years gives me some hope that some footage from Magma's 1973/74 concerts will be found .....
Yes it is. this video comes from the bonus DVD of the aniversary box. I choosed this song for copyright reasons. The concert DVD just worth the price of bying the entire box. BUY IT! If you are a true fan, you won't regret.
(en français: c'est extrait du DVD bonus du coffret 40ème anniversaire. Pour des raison légales, je ne vais pas publier l'intégralité du concert, ACHETEZ LE, ça vaut le prix).

Great Toyah-esque vocals and an incredible bassist - a fitting tribute to the work of the Great Man.

Didn't Tim and Lindsay play on the first AB CD "Hopes & Fears" ? And Georgina on the last HC CD "Western Culture" ?

1976 -- that was the year Ochs committed suicide. Would this be a tribute?
