  • This is those sort of things that makes me want to be a teacher, spraying the sense that give you the tools to think by yourself.

  • Im curious as to how your class received this. I would expect that it happened similar to that of those who hear of bronies in the first place, i.e. skepticism and doubt at first then move over towards tolerance.

  • Do they go to penn state?

  • You inspired me to do the same thing for my school, but might look like yours. Plus (no offense to African Americans) I go to a ghetto school so I might be hurt after this.

  • Could you get captions for this video?

  • You deserve a medal, friend

  • This was beautiful.

  • Penn state made me lol

  • What the hell is hanging out of his sleeve?

  • @AbyssalStudios

    Magic.

  • Before i came a brony, i didn't think what was wrong about grown men liking the show, i wondered what was so good about the show itself.

  • How can I do this in my school?

  • This was a great presentation, sadly I'm already a Brony, but if this video, can make just one hater a brony than it's done it's job, and we welcome anyone, and everyone to the herd.

  • i love the show and all but thats my opinion, others hate the show and its fan base thats their opinions lol, so none of this really matters as they are all nothing more than opinions.

  • In response to your comment about Star Wars Fans not contributing back to society, There's a group called the 501st that does just that. They do charity events and things called Troops where they may show up for a special event or to a hospital to brighten a kid's day. In response to your presentation, great job! and well done.

  • it is a really great show but seems like there is a very disturbing bunch on the internet that feel the need to pervert the show and its terrible cause you cant even look the show up on youtube without the recommendation list having all this disturbing stuff on there, not to mention some of the comments on the videos.

And its not that im sensitive about it its just that im sad that theres such an apparent lack of respect for the show/characters/art form etc

  • @revelthehunter it's not just MLP, it's called Rule 34 which can apply to Everything.

  • @JaredSloger i know, and it is applied to everything, and it makes me want to close down my internets

  • I wish this guy was my teacher

  • wats wrong with being insane?

    I LOVE IT!

  • @DezitionX through your head that we bronies are no different from anyone else. Individual likes are what makes us human.

  • @BigHairyYak lmao all I'm hearing is "WAH!!! I like what I want and I don't care what people think about me!!!".

    Fucking pussies. lol

  • @DezitionX and just why is it sad?

There are grown women who enjoy football or wrestling, why is that not sad? Is it really that big of a deal that the two genders "have" to follow their stereotypical hobbies? Who said that men HAVE to like football and wrestling and the like? I don't care for sports or anything related to them. Who said that women HAVE to enjoy cooking and sewing and shopping? I know plenty who defy that.

So, before you say "oh, this is sad that men watch a girl's show", get

  • "Do they go to Penn State?"

    Pwned.

  • Love and tolerate

  • God I wish you were my teacher

  • The only reason people hate on us is because they are insecure about there masculinity/sexuality. I don't care if people hate it, it's just when they start ranting on about "brony fags"

    Bronies rule.

  • we are bronies friendship is magic pic just cracked me up XD XD XD XD

  • The Fire of Friendship burns in our hearts

  • *14 and up

    =D just saying...im 14

  • ... THIS IS... WONDERBAR!

  • @batameez913 MORE LIKE PEDOPHILE STATE AMIRITE?

  • Sadly, not everyone strives to eliminate prejudice, but instead to reinforce it. It's very much the same idea of people refusing to be open-minded, and instead believe that boys should be playing with guns and trucks, and girls with ponies and barbies. To them, any other way is simply incomprehensible, and thus, blasphemy. So let the haters hate, because hate will never breed happiness ♥

  • @xcorr77

while hate doesn't breed happiness, i find that haters themselves breed far too much

  • ..Really? Did you really do a research about My Little Pony?

I feel so bad for this generation.

  • @DezitionX I also do feel bad for this generation but for various other reasons..

  • @narutokage777 Well good for you. But it is sad that I am seeing grown men watching this show and actually enjoying it.

    Kinda sad.

  • @DezitionX Is 14 year old considered a grown man's age?

    Is 15-23 very adult either?

I feel sorrier for this generation, because of people like you who overdramatize over small matters like these. (-_-)

  • @3arlGray Did I specify the age range of the people who participate in this ridiculous fandom? No. I merely said that there are grown men who watch this show and actually enjoy it. And it's really sad since this show is actually meant for little girls.

    Fuck, you assume too much.

  • @DezitionX Welp, I guess adult women who watch football and warm movies are dykes.

It takes more masculinity to like something you know you won't be accepted for than to indulge in some mainstream shit like Arrow in the Knee jokes.

  • @3arlGray Still doesn't change the fact that MLP supporters are viewed as creepy bastards.

  • @DezitionX I'm viewing YOU as a creepy bastard for coming to a video and bothering to comment on a video just just to comment about your personal discrepancies.

  • @3arlGray Cool story bro, tell that to someone else who cares. lmao

You bronies are all hilarious and I will keep laughing at you all.

  • @DezitionX Tell someone who cares? lol, WHO exactly is it here that came specifically to a video about MLP to call everyone creepy bastards? Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful.

  • @3arlGray I'm still laughing. lol

  • @DezitionX Okay, creepy dude, keep laughing at debates on the internet. I'll just let you do so in peace now. 'Cause obviously you're that important.

  • @3arlGray Yup, more important than you faggot bronies.

  • @DezitionX But of course, what did I expect from some kid who "hates niggers"?

  • @3arlGray Niggers are just as stupid as bronies, if not worse.

  • @DezitionX Hahaha, racists are worse than both.

Go on, reply to my comment, douchebag troll. I need a good laugh.

  • @3arlGray Racists holds more sense than any other person. Racists show dominance over the lower ranks of human beings (mainly niggers, mexicans, and asians) because they are inferior in every way towards white men. The only reason why Obama was elected was because of ignorant niggers voting for him. If anything racism should be supported thoroughly.

Oh and I'm not trolling, I'm being dead serious. Just like when I say that bronies are pathetic people as well.

  • @DezitionX Wow, congratulations on writing a love letter to the "pathetic" brony that didn't even read your TL;DR wall of angsty text.

What are you even doing on the internet, kid? Go outside.

  • @3arlGray So you are assuming I wrote a love letter just because I wrote a wall of text explaining why racism should be advocated? Alright then.

  • hey hey you you are awesome and you should feel awesome

  • This shows there's a few clips that make it look watchable, but even the worst movies can look good if you show a few clips of the best bit. It shows no need for a "community". All his points are garbage.

  • @sabotagethefool Your mom is garbage...

  • @sabotagethefool screw you.

  • YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND!!!!!!!!

  • to me this kinda sounds like religion

  • @ArticSandstorm The things is though, we don't fly planes into buildings or burn people at the stake.

  • @ItzMeCasey I'm a brony. But neither do a lot of non bronies

  • @ItzMeCasey yup. instead we fly pegasi into cliffs and catch ponies manes on fire.

  • PEGASISTERS!

  • Comment removed

  • Where do you teach and can I take your classes??

  • Hard being a 13 year old Brony.

  • @PivotDude90thCentury and that's the truth.

  • @poyo1998 found her. now gimme my cookie.

  • I knew bronies were generally swell guys, I did not know that they were involved in lots of charity.

Well I dare say. I'm not sure a force like this has ever existed, but these guys may just be the anti-/b/. The internet love machine, if you will. It'll be interesting to see how those two groups interact in the future.

  • @JohnnyRadman b hasnt been the internet hate machine since 08 its a shriveled rat turd of its former self to be honest the only people that populate it now are 16-18 year olds who think they are edgy and "random" its become complete and utter faggotry if you ask me

  • @TheUnderquakerXBLS Oh. I don't really keep in touch with that part of the web. I used to, but that was a while back.

So what became of the internet hate machine? Is it gone, or did it just move somewhere else?

  • @JohnnyRadman completely gone nowhere to be found

  • YOU are a fag....end of story.

  • @phoenixhand troll all you want us brony will love and tolerate the shit out of you

  • @SPARTANx1341 Hahaha, no. The majority of bronies I have spoken to are very hateful people.

  • @ImmaKarkat Sorry to hear that :(

  • @phoenixhand Are your jimmies rustled? And please! Fag! I HAVE NOT HEARD THAT INSULT BEFORE!

  • Loved it. And you may or may not be a brony yourself but thank you for understanding us. :)

  • thats a big ass iPad you got there on the board.

  • i have a brony recon squad in a school

  • Woohoo brilliant!

  • Four people are insecure with their masculinity.

  • You sir have converted 30 - 100 students that day! Thank you!

  • 7:09 - 8:25

what were the students reaction to that video?

  • one may not realize but this show can have some disturbing references such as in the first 2 episodes of season 2 where rarity is carrying tom on her back is a reference to dante's inferno's 4th ring greed where the greedy carry large boulders, only they believe it is there hearts desire. which i know is probably well known reference i was just pointing out the fact

  • Meh, I used to care, but not anymore.

A brony is a fan of the show. That's all that matters.

  • I must agree with sasbub and bronypower. I agree with every point they made. It was well prepared and presented in a dignified and precise way.

  • Well I'll just join the line of people saying good job and all. that. I've just been up all night watching these types of videos and I have to say, yours seemed the most prepared of them all. Mind you, you're a teacher and not a student in front of his peers. Regardless it was very well done.

  • i'd like to personally thank you for doing this. this is very informing for those who cannot on their own disern the resoning behind our watching and loving this beutiful show. i am a 17 year old dude. heterosexual. and all the trolls... well... ahem... off to the moon with you.

  • You are my hero

while I wish could say more (in a slightly intelligent manner) I can not thank bro and good day

  • This was... Amazingly well done! I salute you!

  • EASTER EGG: Find Derpy Hooves and you earn a cookie!

  • Using the gif at the end was the icing on the (cup)cake. You are my favorite teacher, and I don't even know you!

  • that was a very good presentation. I hope you got a high note for it.

  • Another thing I'd like to mention is your pronunciation of Faust. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is pronounced "Fowst" Again, a stupendous job!

  • I'd just like to say that is is definitely one of the best presentations I have seen, although it seemed a little mechanical. Also, how old are your students? Are they even old enough to recognize The Big Lebowski?

  • This is a well researched presentation, and you made me remember that some of the more mature bronies don't cry over toys not aimed at them. They do things like give spare to the community and that they calmly tell a hater to at least watch a show first. Thank you.

  • I enjoyed watching this! Very informative. I didn't know we had organizations that contributed to other communities. That's nice to hear!

Bronies indeed output a lot of original material, more so then any fandom (comparatively. I know the star wars/lord of the rings communities probably have a lot more then us, but in the year we've been around, we've done so much more than what other fandoms would be able to accomplish in the same period).

    Proud brony fan fic writer!

  • It was decent. I agree there could have been more spirit, but there are more social bounds in the real world than in Equistria.

I don't understand the need to convert people. This was a informative speech, not a persuasive one.

  • This was amazing. PERIOD

  • Thank god he didn't mention Cupcakes when talking about fanfic.

    Awesome presentation!

  • This is pretty cool, although I'm going to be the killjoy here and say it's a bit too dry and academic to be really useful for explaining/converting people. We need something a little peppier, funnier, and happier - kinda like the show itself, actually. After all, we need to make a good first impression - so show a little pizzazz!

  • @trueShazb0t I'm afraid I agree. The presentation was a good idea, but pretty weak overall. More content, better presentation, and perhaps some larger images would help greatly. But still, kudos for the attempt.

  • Bronies are female too..

  • @sourlemonice Bronies are mostly male fans but girl fans that are older are more called pegasisters but brony can be a male or an "Overaged" girl

  • This is surely the best presentation I've seen in a long while! Personally, and (as I am able as a brony, myself) also on behalf of the fandom, I most sincerely thank you for all of the effort you must have put into creating as magnificent a presentation as this, and for all the social difficulties you must have overcome to present such a controversial presentation to your students; I really can't thank you enough. May love and peace be with you.

  • This was one of the better presentations. The images were a little cluttered, and the video excerpts were plenty short, but you spoke with confidence and a coherent message.

  • Awesome job bro, much respect!

  • Professor Equine, can I get a copy of the PowerPoint (or OpenOffice Thingy) presentation you used? All credits would go to you, of course; this is a useful tool for all bronies.

    Many thanks.

  • I love this presentation

  • Like if you caught yourself staring at the thing dangling from his sleeve.

  • Haha When I was like 7 I always liked the PowerPuff Girls secretly - and 7 years later I am a brony!

  • this is going to be me when I become a teacher. I can already tell.

  • 13:35 This is basically how I became a brony.

I talked to one, and I started doing pony art before even watching an episode (Yes I did do it XD), then I started waching the episodes, and here I am.

  • Good presentation.

  • I felt the need to instantly tell you how awesome you are when I saw you chose Picard's facepalm as a reaction; well played, good sir.

  • Derp

  • On a less pedantic note, I really love your presentation.

  • IT RAISES THE QUESTION! RAISES! NOT BEGS!

"Begging the question" is a form of logical fallacy, petitio principii. If you said "All bronies love traffic cones, and because of this every brony if a good driver", you are begging the question by assuming the proposition "All bronies love traffic cones", you aren't proving that which needs proof.

  • Penn State joke, too soon? too soon

  • Heh heh the Stain-glass painted panel I put on ebay made it into the presentation! I've got another one coming out this week... but yeah, overall awesome presentation, thanks for highlighting the piece!

  • Another good title would be "Bronies: What we wanted to know about them but were afraid to ask".

  • DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE PENN STATE JOKE???????

  • @Truman5555 you have to admit he had good comedic timing :P

  • Loved this presentation. Too many presentations I see tend to lack confidence in the subject where they will use a lot of filler words which just loses all form of persuasiveness. I did notice a few in yours, but they were well controlled to not waste too much time in getting the message across. It was also impressive that you used a conflicting topic which would be meant for persuading to your side. Again too many presentations try to persuade through bias and not external references.

  • Until I read the description, I was concerned that no one was laughing when you were showing the clips.

  • That was a really good presentation, i throughly enjoyed it.

For any future presentations, watch out for your "um's" you had a lot of them. My public speaking teacher over the summer said something along the lines of; It's better to have silence than trying to fill the void with being unintelligent.

    i hope you make many "brony-ciples." :)

  • If I was not brony, i would be after this presentation.

  • I actually have yet to meet a female brony who likes the term "pegasister." Most of us prefer just to be called bronies, and would like to put an end to the common misconception that it's a male-only term.

Still, best presentation I've seen so far, and it goes a long way towards ending some much more dangerous misconceptions. Great job!

  • Amazing. I had never really been able to put into so many words why I liked this show so much until I watched this.

  • What do you teach?

What was the reason to do this presentation?

How does this relate to what you teach?

Anyway, nice presentation. To be honest, I've notice small in fighting with the fandom, and some people outside the fandom say that bronies aren't go crazy if you don't like what they like. I can't say for the later one. For the former, I've seen some in fighting by fans who call certain parts of the show racist. I feel that the brony fandom will wane after the show is over.

  • Too bad the classroom was empty. Your presentation is really well done and very informative. I would have loved to see their reactions.

  • You mentioned Your Siblings! You rock! Woohoo! /)^ε^(\

  • Lovely presentation, it's a shame that there wasn't any crowd reaction available for it.

I do like that the speech had a point, not to just introduce the show or say why you like and relate to it. But instead it was about clearing up misconceptions about Bronies, how they aren't just enjoying the show and talking about it, they're contributing to the pony community with fan generated material as well as the human community with good deeds to carry out the message of the show in the real world.

  • @PumpkinHipHop The class reaction that this presentation got when I was giving it was not all that compared to when I initially told my students what my research was about. It almost felt like I was trying to control a riot when I brought it up.

  • @FillyFilmFeatures So is that a positive or a negative reaction after this presentation?

  • @AceDudeyeah Originally my students were almost violently opposed to such a community existing when I first told them about my research. After I made the presentation 2 weeks after that explanation they have calmed down and do not view Bronies as weird as they originally thought.

  • @FillyFilmFeatures hello I mustache you a question oh nevermind i'll shave it for later

  • nice work
