@brooks2052 Not sure I understand the question. If by outline you mean the pattern I followed, refer to an explanation further down the comments list. I used a paper pounce pattern and a ponce bag. Hope this helps.

It is like tying your shoes. You do it a few million times you get very good at it. If you can make it to a 'Letterheads' event it would go a long way to help you. Check out letterville and creativesignmakers on the web
You are very talented. Painting cursive script is not easy. I am curious what you did before the paint part. How you stenciled or outlined the logo onto the surface. Was it hand drawn? Was it stenciled? If so, what techniques do you use?Thanks for sharing.
An effective way of pulling a pattern from an old sign before restoring is to tape a sheet of heavy bond paper over the panel and wipe the paper with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. The paper will become transparent and you can trace the design with a #2 pencil. After the mineral spirits evaporates you can make a pounce pattern from it as I did in this case.
Nice job...interesting how similar all of our techniques are. I too use 3 oz. unwaxed & palette the brush on the lip. Looks like the white came out pretty opaque for you. I mostly go hand over hand, only occaisionally using my Mahl stick. Good work.

Is there a good way that you recommend to learn this? I.e. is it best to do a course or just learn from books and practice?

what kind of brush are you using?
jonnyrock2001 1 year ago
@jonnyrock2001
I think it's a 'french' from Dick Blick. Grey #10 or so.
letrhed 1 year ago
@letrhed probably answered wrong. The actual type of brush is a grey lettering quill
