@ploy3snoy you are right it was science of that time that was wrong. People blame Theist all the time. Galileo who was Theist suggested the earth went around the sun. How come no one gives credit of that? Next they are going to say Hubble was the one who came up with the big bang theory when it was originally Lemaître who was a theist also. I am sure if Lemaître was wrong Christians would get laughed at also.
I have mixed feelings about this documentary. Like the reviewer said, Flemming went into great detail about the violence of the Passion, which seemed like overkill (no pun intended). Also, while some people liked watching the principal squirm at the end, I found it uncomfortable and extremely hard to watch. It made Brian look bad, as if he ambushed the guy. I actually felt sorry for Mr. Sipus. Some parts of the film were well done, but in others Flemming shot himself in the foot.
I agree, SOundBite...AND it's being awfully sloppy with your words to state that "Christianity was wrong about the Solar System." I am pretty sure I know what you *meant* to say; you just ended up saying something quite different.
Thank goodness for the U.S. Constitution and its framers, who kept gods out of that document. U.S. founders supported free inquiry and opposed government sanctioned religion. May it always be so.
@S0undBite Yes, your assertion is true, but what point are you making?
In most cases where science has been wrong it's been because religion has forced it's opinion on science. Historically science was under the control of the church. Any scientific discovery that was in opposition to Church doctrine was considered heretical.
What ever the cause of scientific errors, it was science that corrected itself through the scientific method. That's the beauty of it.
@burkerow even in the scientific world, new theories that go against the grain are considered heretical, it's not religion, it's just human nature, it's just that back then the church was the scientific institution, even if there was no religion there would be some other scientific institution that castrated new ideas. It's human nature to think we have everything figured out, until someone like einstein, or tesla comes along and turns the world on it's head
@S0undBite Science has to be hesitant to accept new ideas and theories, or anyone would come up with their own and claim it to be the answer. Every new theory has to be backed up by facts, has to be independently confirmed by other scientist, and has to be able to explain mounting amount of facts, which was the case with Einstein and Tesla.
And the church was never a scientific institution.
@S0undBite I wouldn't say heretical, because the job of a scientist is to be skeptical of every new idea. Until something is tested and retested, then written in a peer reviewed journal, scientists are going to be skeptical. If they weren't skeptical, all experiments would be biased. Real world scientists would be just as bad as Creationist scientists.
@HimesInu There's a difference between testing something extensively before considering something as truth, and vigorously attacking and trying to discredit the person who puts forward the theory. The only thing that changes is that people don't have the same power to arrest someone for it. If you are saying that there is no emotion and selfishness in the scientific community, and they are totally open, I highly doubt it. There is politics in everything, and if someone comes along and says
@S0undBite But here's the problem with so called "Creation Scientists": First, they expect that their "theory" is to go into text books without being peer reviewed. Second, they propose no evidence more than "It's in the Bible." Third, and this is the irony of your first statement, "Creation Scientists" are more likely to attack real scientist than the other way around.
@HimesInu Well I agree with your point, SOME scientists are fair but not EVERY scientist, just been called a scientists does not make you fair and if you say that it does, well you just disproved yourself. If you went to communist Russia, creastionists would get shot, right or wrong, or partly right and party wrong, it would not matter because they were challenging the institution. The only thing that changes is the institution. People are still going to think they are infallible.
Catholicism during the Inquisition period , have used the image of Christ ,and created false dogmas to gain political advantage trough the common people. Banned the bible , to hide the true teachings of Jesus Christ . This video is a fake masquerade , to deceive the naive people , ho do not know the Bible and no christianity events . It's a antichrists trap. Everything started from that fake documentary zeitgaist and continues , because it is a war against Christ . Wake up!!!
Fals video! Catholic Inquisition said that the earth is the center of the universe , not Jesus Christ!!! Catholic dogma is quite different from the biblical gospels , and remember that there are Orthodox Christianity which no one speaks about , the original church which from the beginning and has not committed any atrocities . Jesus Christ said to explore everything and choose only what is good , he encouraged the knowledge . The Inquisition was totally opposite !
@fastleppard And what do you call "Orthodox Christianity"? You say that as if Christianity was a cohesive monolithic religion in the first few centuries of the "Christian Era". It was not! Christianity started out as fragmented as it is now. Orthodoxy, came about due to one group (roman bishops) who won out, by consensus over "heretical" groups such as the gnostics.
@burkerow Jesus Christ said to explore everything and choose only what is good , he encouraged the knowledge . The Inquisition was totally opposite ! This video is a fake masquerade , to deceive the naive people , ho do not know the Bible and no christianity events , and you are a lier.
@fastleppard Really!! You call me a liar? Is that the best you can do for a counter argument?
There was nothing I said that is not easy to fact check. It's not controversial and it is pretty much in agreement with what any historian or biblical scholar will tell you.
But if calling me a liar makes you feel better, then have at it, but just know it makes you appear a bit childish.
@fastleppard When it comes to science, there is no good or bad. There is evidence that either proves or disproves a hypothesis. And for you to say someone or something is fake, deceiving, or a liar only means you have no coherent argument and are in a corner. It makes you look ignorant.
@HimesInu I am not ignorant ! You are the one that is fall in ignorance , because you can not understand God . God is simple and shows the simplicity of faith and virtue that you do not understand !
@fastleppard I didn't call you ignorant for believing in something I called you ignorant for calling a person or thing fake, deceiving, or a liar. That you couldn't come up with an argument that says more than a video is fake, is deceiving, and that a person is a liar and couldn't explain why makes you look ignorant.
Silly Documentary lacking evidences, totally faked like a cartoon and even lots of lies... starting with some schizophrenics that killed and did horrible deeds for some delusions in their minds and called them Christians, trying to fool the viewers that they did this because they are Christians.
I am a committed Atheist (is that possible?), but i think this is a badly made, in fact cheaply made documentary that cheapens the subject matter. Just because historical accounts are conflicting as to dates, and accounts appear some years after death (actually there are 36 known 'lost' gospels, some earlier than mark) is rarely cited as definitive evidence that other (poor) historical figures did not exist. For a more intelligent docu see Samuel Beckforts 'who wrote the bible' C4 2004
The reason the Bible is known as the "good news" is because we don't have to follow a list of "dos and dont's" to become Christians. Trying to do good deeds and be a goody two shoes, going to church, reading the Bible, praying, are good things, but will never make anyone into a Christian or get anyone to heaven. Jesus did ALL of the work on the cross to allow us to be forgiven and to become a Christian. We don't have to do anything to earn God's favor. Its the best deal you could ever ask for.
People always seem to blame God for everything. People claim that war never serves a purpose. Think about it. Should we just let every evil dictator do whatever they want? So we ask them nicely to stop. Then we ask them a little more directly. Why aren't they stopping their evil behavior? There is evil in the world, exactly as the Bible says. So when a war breaks out and the evil dictator is killed, many lives are spared. Would you rather have evil persist? You blame God when He saves lives too
@Gottschalk1990 I agree. Man made religion is messed up. People try to work their way to God by doing things, following rules and laws. That is messed up. No amount of good deeds, Bible reading, prayer, etc. will make anyone into a Christian and won't get anyone into heaven. Only by accepting Jesus as Saviour can anyone become a Christian. Jesus even said that religion by itself is dead. God is there and helps people EVERY day. Much of what God does is through people. God sends people to help.
@romansten9 but you think being as powerful as he. he would himself as is appear. if i was god, i would. i would care less what others thought of me. peoples name calling and so forth don't affect me. and if god does feel emotion. he is in fact mortal not a god. god is simply a name a title
@Gottschalk1990 We will never know everything about God. He even says this in the Bible. God also sees the "big picture." He does things that will only make sense according to the big picture. Do you think an ant can understand humans? Thats like us trying to understand God. God is pleased when we have faith in Him. If God appeared, there would be no need for faith, and one of the BIGGEST ways that we can please God would suddenly disappear. Why would God want to do that?
@romansten9 that's a question you should ask yourself. why would god disappear? i do see a bigger picture as well. lol who knows for all we know god is laughing his ass off at this discussion. and saying humans can't grasp the concept is an insult. we can grasp it is just out of reach.
We use the term "sunset" even today! (The Bible talks about the sun "setting") Does that mean that we all believe that the sun revolves around the earth? What a ridiculous video! It looks like someone spent a lot of money to produce something based on nonsense! Using the idea of a "sunset" is hardly evidence that the Bible is wrong! This video has no basis in fact.
@Gottschalk1990 Well, you asked a question, and when it wasn't answered immediately, you claimed I was dancing around the question like a politician. I wasn't even logged in at the time. So it sounded demanding.
@romansten9 maybe i am maybe im not. and sorry if it did. im just sick and tired of this whole bullshit debate. and the bible is merely a set of suggestions. on how to live "a life" not necessarily the proper one
The Bible has been 100%correct. Those who have MISINTERPRETED IT have been the cause of so much confusion. The Bible says NOWHERE that the sun revolves around the earth.. old Calvin's claims of geocentricity was just a sad mistake as well as the OFFICIAL stand of the Catholic Church of the time.. THE BIBLE IS TRUE.... read the Bible for yourself. Again this video is inaccurate.
...A lot of Christians are happy with there life & 99% of the time are good honest people. So if someone's a Christian who has a good life and they are a nice person, do good things etc... why would you want to ruin that? Because really it just makes you look like an ass hole who hates his own life & are trying to make other people suffer for it.
"Christianity was wrong about the solar system" lol Everyone was wrong about it back then. The church frowned upon Galileo because they didn't understand there is a difference between mythology and science. In the same way, the authors of this video don't seem to understand that many Christians don't understand the difference. Science can't answers the questions of religion and religion can't answer the questions of science. Why argue?
@choprabike ehrmm...except religion can't answer anything, not even questions on religion. Their scriptures have so much inconsisties and contradictions so how could they? What you should say is that religion tries to answer and fails. It's not a matter of arguing but calling people out on obvious bs. That's how our species goes forward, by questioning stupid beliefs, like the earth is flat etc.
@byteresistor Why don't you read the Bible for yourself, instead of believing stories about "contradictions?" Every "so-called" contradiction has been explained many years ago, yet we still hear about that nonsense. We also still hear that the Bible says the earth is flat. Thats not even in the Bible! The opposite is true. The Bible said the earth is round and that it hangs on nothing. This was long before science figured out that the earth is round and hangs in space. Read
@byteresistor You obviously haven't read the Bible. Any so-called "contradictions" were answered years ago, but people still try to spread these lies. The Bible doesn't say the earth is flat, another lie. Actually it says the opposite. The Bible says the earth is round and that it hangs on nothing. It said this long before science figured this out.
In the middle ages, garbage and sewage were thrown into the streets of Europe. This bred flies, rats and disease. Typhoid, cholera, leprosy, and bubonic plague killed millions. Science had no solution. In the ghettos where the Jews lived, this was not the case. Why? Because the Jews were practicing the laws of sanitation that were given in the Bible. Quarantine was also from the Bible. Cleansing was in the Bible thousands of years before other religious books and before science found bacteria.
Wow out of all the historical evidence I ever heard, leve it to a atheist to not only change the history time line of the bible, but now even how the orbit of the universe. Lol wow can you say lets just make it up as wee go.
Just because the Jews practiced their "keep away from the unclean" laws, doesn't mean the Bible has been right about anything of the natural world. Scripture never notes the existence of microorganisms, and have not discovered any direct method for treating diseases. The ancient traditions were helpful for survival, but the Israelites had no idea what caused ailments and sicknesses. They just say that diseases is a curse from god or the devil (hmm which one?), and people should keep away.
What I am saying is that the Bible contains great wisdom in many areas of life. People that have followed the Bible have avoided countless problems. It states how to avoid disease in more ways than washing (which is still the #1 prevention of disease) It warns against promiscuity, which leads to STDs. It also teaches how to treat others, how to be successful in marriage and in parenting. It also speaks of science not yet discovered in other areas, such as astronomy and nature.
If it does, none of it surpass beyond the most basic of scientific knowledge that are not at all profound. Many older culture's governments also practiced quarantine for diseases ranging from typhoid, leprosy, to STDs. You also mentioned astronomy, which was actually never known to be the Israelite's forte. This was the science that the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Greeks were known for.
The Israelites practiced completely different set of marriage and parenting practice we know of today. They practiced polygamy, and their children are to be obedient with the threat of death. Today, all of these ideas are met with reproach.
And then there is pure show of their morals by their practice of public stoning on their "sinful" neighbors, and destroying entire nations with genocides. Not at all moral, unless you try to play the lawyer and justify their actions.
Christians are living under the New Covenant of the New Testament of the Bible. You are referring to the Old Testament. These things are null and void, therefore your points are null and void. It is surprising the level of Bible illiteracy there is in the world today. When we well stop hearing about what was practiced in an ancient time in an ancient culture which is not even part of the New Covenant practiced today? Its time to start reading the whole Bible in context, not just one portion.
Then what's with the contrast between the totalitarian OT and the suddenly positive NT? Bible apologetics refers to the messiah story as a symbol for the change (washing of sin, salvation, etc). But then what was the point of the flawed old covenant in the first place? Why is one part filled with contradiction and loopholes (plus a vengeful god), then the next we have mercy/salvation all of a sudden? The explanation is that this ain't part of a divine plan, but just a change in *authorship*.
The Old Covenant was not flawed. The Old Testament points forward to Jesus. God's plan always included Jesus. God is the same in the Old Testament and the New. People lived under the law in the O.T. so God may have appeared more strict under that covenant. The Bible is a spiritual book written to members of God's family. The first step in understanding the Bible is to become part of God's family. In the process, a love for God will motivate you to begin to understand what it means.
@romansten9 God is the same in the OT and new? THAT is scary!! The OT god is a total psychopath, always smiting, killing, demanding more sacrifices, giving insane orders, flying into rages- ie, a demented, tyrannical lunatic. If Jesus is God, that makes him just as mad, jealous, unreasonable and paraoid. I'm thankful not to worship such an arsehole.
@coralarch You describe a God that is nothing like the God of the Bible. Obviously you haven't read the Bible, and someone told you that God is the way you described Him. If you had read the Bible, you would see God's good qualities. Do you have the courage to list God's good qualities? I'd like to see you post some of them.
@romansten9 WHO hasn't read the Bible??? I had it rammed down my throat form infancy!!! Open at any page of the OT and you'll see Yahweh in all his vindictive stupidity.
@coralarch this my opinion I think the OT was altered in some way by evil leaders and not giving the right message God wanted. In the NT Jesus said "Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" and goes on saying "You have heard that it was said " you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy". " But I say to you, love your enemies".. you see Jesus clearly disagrees with a lot of things in the OT
@IlC4RL0SIl Yet Jesus is supposed to have come to fulfil every jot of the Law. That includes stoning people to death for Sabbath-breaking and adultery. The entire religion is demented.
@IlC4RL0SIl Jesus said and did nothing new, EXCEPT this: He told people to HATE and DESERT their families to prove their love for him. What a narcissist! Have you obeyed this order? I bet you haven't. If you are not willing to do as Jesus tells you, then you have no right to preach his words to others.
@IlC4RL0SIl "Real" truth? As opposed to unreal truth, perhaps? LOL. Whose truth? How do you define it and how do you determine whose truth is real? How many truths are there? "Truth" is speaker-specific.
@Beeshitten You're wasting your time, son. This fool is blinded by his/her own self-importance and righteousness. I give him Bible truth, and he calls me dumb. Evidently, he knows not his own religion. hahahahahahahaha TYPICAL!!
@coralarch your interpretation of scripture wouldn't hold up in any serious debate on the subject. you only choose to believe your statement because the truth is hard to face and you need irreverence to hide behind. when or if you ever choose to look at the subject with an open mind you can see your errors until then you will be stuck in ignorance, obvious to everyone but you.
The amazing thing about the Bible is that it is really 66 separate books written over 1500 years by 40 authors in 3 languages, yet it still has a consistent message throughout. The whole Bible points to Jesus as the Savior of the world and how to come to God through Him. The Old Testament uses animal sacrifices as a symbol of the blood of Jesus that will forgive all sin, so that people could be saved even before Jesus was born. The wisdom of God's plan is stunning.
@romansten9 The wisdom of God? Couldn't he just forgive and be done with it, the way humans are supposed to? Why all the need for bloodshed? Why all the drama? Do YOU require that an innocent and defenceless creature be cruelly killed before you can forgive someone's errors and transgressions? I should hope not.
Go watch RB3g6mXLEKk (nonstampcollectors quiz show). It more effectively mocks this idea that the bible is a cohesive work than anything I could muster. Please, just check it out. He gives citations so you can look everything up yourself.
"A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education." Theodore Roosevelt. Wise words. The Bible will impact every area of life for the better. It will also lead us to God and eternal salvation. Nothing in life could be worth more than this. The most important decision we ever make will be whether we choose to accept or reject Jesus.
@romansten9 yess. great amount of wisdom indeed., like the crusades and the death of millions yeah wisdom. people fight over whose god was bigger when really they are on the same page.
weak video. Offers no evidence. Any scripture he may be referring to has already been explained in it's proper context. So the Bible refers to "sunrise" and "sunset", big deal. We still use those same terms today. Science has verified many people, places and events described in the Bible. Other books, such as the book of mormon, do not enjoy such scientific verification because they are works of fiction. Christianity is solidly built upon a mountain of facts, for anyone willing to look.
@romansten9 so when science finds the cure for cancer and all of that you can say that's fiction to or "aka playing god" arrogant people like you piss me off. science is not fiction. say that to the tooth paste you use, the cars you have, hell your own fucking DNA. RELIGION AND SCIENCE ARE ONE. so get it though your guy's thick minded skulls.
@Gottschalk1990 I don't claim that science is fiction. There is a lot of good science. And the DNA that you claim is from science is not from science at all. God made DNA and God made you. God gave us the ability to create the toothpaste and the cars you brag about. Its not God against science- God made everything including our ability to discover things (science). Its not arrogant for me to give credit to God. That is called humility. Arrogance is when scientists refuse to give credit to God.
@romansten9 actually yes you did it was a while back ago. check the posting if you dont believe me. lol wow you are even more brainwashed than i thought. oh and scientists did give credit to god. look at Albert Einstein. God should give credit to science. or does he show that by letting us live? and not have our government push the little red button and blowing us all to hell. oh and i forgot we have free will and free thinking. if "God" didn't want us to question ourselves and have doubts about
@romansten9 him why not just make the entire fucking race of humanity a bunch of mindless husks like you? cause apparently you cant think for yourself. you let God control every aspect of your life. let me ask you something. would you kill for your God?
@Gottschalk1990 Mindless? Some of the greatest minds throughout history were Christians. And many alive today. If they are mindless, perhaps you would like to debate one? A large number of our medical community and scientists are Christians. Mindless? God doesn't control every aspect of a Christian's life. Quite the OPPOSITE. You need to read the Bible. We aren't in the Old Testament any more! The only really FREE people are Christians. Those without Jesus are in bondage to sin and the law.
@romansten9 yes actually i would like to debate with one. and i did not say all Christians are mindless i was pertaining to you. and that's quite funny how you proclaim to be free. you are not free and never will be. you are shackled to the ground with chains bigger than the ones that hold freighters. and you make it sound like you still are in the old testament. and i am reading the bible actually. the more i read it the more it pisses me off. and disbelieve even more.
@Gottschalk1990 You want God to do something about the evil in the world, and then you are surprised when God is a just God and says that if people reject His forgiveness, they will face judgment. Make up your mind. Do you want God to punish evil or not? You can't answer both ways! Which one do you want God to do?
@romansten9 the reason why war stopped is because we are smart enough to stop killing each other over god otherwise you and i wouldn't be speaking right now
@Gottschalk1990 be human. truly be mortal. not a god. that's what i want him to do. i want him to put himself in this modern society and appear in flesh and bone just as you and i are.
@romansten9 because god hasn't done jack shit to help the people of this world as of now. I don't see what the fuck he is waiting for. and atheist cannot live in sin nor go to hell or heaven because they don't believe.
@Gottschalk1990 Just because I didn't answer your question within 30 seconds doesn't mean I'm "dancing around your question like a politician" Not everyone is signed on here 24/7 waiting to answer YOU. And you call God demanding? Look at yourself. You are proving to be impossible to have a conversation with. Your logic has no clear direction, half the time you defend God, half the time you attack Him. You insult people, have no patience, and you use profanity.
@Gottschalk1990 You claim to be a Christian and you insult the Bible? and you use profanity? I'm not saying that anyone is perfect, and God will forgive anything, but you don't even seem to be sorry for attacking God and the Bible. So how do you consider yourself a Christian? Are you just lying to everyone on this page? How can anyone trust anything you say?
@romansten9 No, God will NOT forgive anything!! Does he forgive the people in Hell?? Haven't you heard of the unforgivable sin, ie, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit???? Looks like YOU need to read the Bible, sweety.
@coralarch I never claimed that God forgives people that are already dead, or are in hell. I never claimed that there is not a sin called blasphemy. Why don't you show me the post where I said that God forgives dead people? Its incredible that you claimed that I did. I only said that God forgives people. Obviously I am talking about living people because dead people do not ask for forgiveness. I didn't think I needed to spell that out for you. I said nothing that is contrary to the Bible.
@romansten9 and lastly i would not want my subjects to blindly to believe in me and worship me i would welcome those that can think on their own and those who think differently. after all we are "his" "creation". he put this upon himself by creating us apparently, so its his fault we are like this. therefore he must claim responsibility for those of other religions and beliefs and recognize that this world is not perfect and nothing in it. perfection does not create imperfection. bottom line.
@romansten9 You must be a typically paranoid Christian to read unintended meanings into comments. You implied that God forgives anything- when in fact , his own biography denies this. I merely tried to further your education, and instead of thanking me, you snarl! God does not love or forgive everyone, period. His own book says so.
@coralarch You claim that I am reading into things? and paranoid? you are the one attacking me, not the other way around! Snarl? when did this happen? I have been nothing but respectful to you, and you call me names and accuse me of things. God loves everyone, that is what the Bible says, and God forgives anyone that is willing to come to Him and ask. The Bible is very clear about this, so please don't be condescending and try to "educate" me on the Bible. Anyone can see that what I said is true
@coralarch You claim that God does not love everyone, and you say that "His book says so" Where? If you are referring to God hating certain behaviors, I can agree. But even parents "hate" certain behaviors in their children, but still love their child.
@romansten9 oh so he forgives all of those people that go to hell but since they denied him they are going to hell anyway? lol yeah really forgiving. if i was god i would personally see it that they understand me. and i wouldn't put those in hell that do not follow me, and i would not wish people to bow before me i would want them to stand with me side by side. and i would have not lead over billions to die for me in a mindless war. when really it was for control over land, not for god.
@romansten9 i do believe there is a God just not in every aspect you make him to be. and he sure as shit don't control my life. i have morals i can make the right decisions on my own without guidance. oh and one more thing atheist do not believe in nothing. they believe in the theory of evolution and unlike everything in this world. its about the only damn thing that makes sense.
@romansten9 and maybe if you done a little questioning for yourself you might see everyone Else's view on this whole subject, because i can clearly see you are one sided on this topic.
The word is mâshîyach and Strongs # 4899 appears 38 times means Anointed; a consecrated person (as a king, priest, or saint). LEV 4:3 - Hab 3:13
From the Root mâshach #4886 = to rub with oil. Found in 66 verses.
mâshîyach is where they get the word "Messiah" except in the translation from the Greek means "Anointed One" a belief of Idolatry, that actually takes away from the Father and His Anointed One's throughout History.

Those who believe this will find themselves in a hell they walked into.Listen to Johnny cashes last songs. He sings about Galileo and what he thought was Angels or the voice of God was the big lie and led him down a path of hurt and pain etc.Johnny cash's last songs are very strong messege to us all.Everything you do is to believe in one thing or the other, you either blieve in Christ or you do not believe wich is a belief of it own faith.Find Christ

Poor argument guys, you go from the bible was wrong about the universe to all faiths must be wrong about god. The big problem is that religion never said that the sun revolved around the earth, men said that. Humans are fallible, based on belief and politics. Politics exists in all segments of life, even "science" is wrong sometimes. :)
That's not exactly what it is being presented here, it's a mockery of ancient beliefs. That the church believed the earth as the center of the universe is very well documented and to those who thought otherwise were jailed, for blasphemy. Surely you must know this, you sound like you've got a few brain cells left in there. If not just research Galileo vs the Church! and learn something new perhaps!
Exactly. The Greeks, before Christianity, were considering whether the sun or earth is the center. Considering the accuracy of the data available, they did not have compelling evidence or theories to choose the heliocentric versus the geocentric model, as both are equivalent in a simplified sense (that is, if orbits are circular, not elliptical). Read the article "Triangles in the Sky" by searching for maa, triangles, and sky.
@brianpadraic .. oh yes it did profess to be (just ask Galileo)..until a few hundred years ago when they (religious leaders) decided they couldn't compete with the scientific method anymore, and instead decided to focus in the supernatural only .. of course, a subject that no scientific experiment can be constructed to prove or disprove the existence of...
@ab330 The Bible explains the physical world and the universe correctly, and the astonishing thing is that the Bible has done this prior to scientific "discoveries" Just one example: A documentary called "the star of Bethlehem" shows how computer software now available shows in detail that the star behaved exactly as described in the Bible. Previously, people thought that the star was impossible. The software allows the mapping of the night sky from any point and from any date in history.
wow i love how even after having cold hard facts shoved in their faces. religious people still just cant grasp the concept that there might not be a god. as an athiest i choose not to belive. simply because of the fact that there is more evidence against christ than for him.you got the bible we have thousands of the worlds most intelligent people telling us that there is just no way this could have happened who are you gonna belive? scholars?scientists? or people who killed women with stones?
God damn these atheists! First they take our Jesus away, next they will come after Santa Claus. Then the easter bunny, then the tooth fairy, and before you know it, adults will not have anymore fantasy charactors to believe in. Damn all the atheists for taking away charactors that we could truly believe in! May you all burn in everlasting Hell!
Yes I omitted that... VERY ANOYING MUSIC! In general it really is a very poor put together documentary. I also watched some interviews with the Brian fellow, and no one but himself seems to be the troubled abused minded child he claims to be trying to set free or liberate. I thing he really is a BAD voice for the atheist community... some lack of brilliance there, just like the religious wasp christian wakos
I watched thefilm, personally I think Brian the director besides making a poor quality film, is out to get stuff from his personal past ,tries so hard to make us believe it. It is completely absurd they are trying to deny Jesus existence.Doubt his miracles or resurrection ok, but His existence? come on! thats stupid, and childish! if you don't believe the bible read Josephus. I'm an open minded guy, I sympathize with agnostics, but I think atheist are really emotionally hurt people. get help!
i don't think he said Jesus never existed, but rather that no once can prove that he existed because the time table that people point to for his life span was so varied depending on what civilization was talking about him
Atheists are really emotionally hurt people? WTF? Seriously, so a lack of belief in any God or Gods is the sign of emotional trauma? Sorry, but if you wish to make a cohesive and rational argument, the last thing you should be doing is stating a sweeping generalisation that doesn't apply to many of us.
I'm Sorry, I probably did generalized. But in my experience, almost everyone I know who claims to be an atheist is for some reason really really angry about something, just like a lot of christians I know are really ignorant about somethings. I'm not putting down anyone. I'm just saying that as persons we need to balance ourselves and try not to go to extremes, but be open to posibilities and be not just talkers, but observers. Cheers
I'd like to know which words of Jesus say that the sun revolves around the Earth. I'm amazed of the effort some people are willing to make to disprove something they believe to have never existed in the first place. And they clearly miss the point that what matters is Jesus' revolutionary ideas & teachings, & somebody must have come up with them! Ultimately it's understanding those & living by them that will save you, not what Jesus actual name was, where he was born or what he looked like
it doesn't explicitly say that. it implies it though. but it does say that the earth was flat, held up by four pillars and above us is heaven and below us is hell. the fact that the earth is round and that there is no "up" or "down" proves that the bible wasn't written by god.
You're confusing things, including your grammar. Nobody thinks The Bible was 'written by God', & since God is infinite these things cannot be 'proven' by anything, for everything that men do is finite
umm, no i'm not. the bible CLAIMS to be written through the voice of god. So if this is false, then what credibility does the bible have at all?? if it openly tells lies, then why would u pick and choose what tidbits to believe? it might make you feel better about yourself, but i hope someday you'll learn that doing the right thing is in your best interests and you shouldn't do it just because you're scared of an imaginary "firey place"
Christianity wasn't wrong about the sun going around the earth.
Some guy who happened to be a Christian (and probably astronomer) said that.
You can't then blame Christianity for being wrong because then you include the religion.
ploy3snoy 2 months ago

Sipus. Some parts of the film were well done, but in others Flemming shot himself in the foot.

in all fairness, science has been wrong about a lot of things too
S0undBite 1 year ago
@S0undBite Yes, your assertion is true, but what point are you making?
In most cases where science has been wrong it's been because religion has forced it's opinion on science. Historically science was under the control of the church. Any scientific discovery that was in opposition to Church doctrine was considered heretical.
What ever the cause of scientific errors, it was science that corrected itself through the scientific method. That's the beauty of it.
burkerow 11 months ago
@burkerow even in the scientific world, new theories that go against the grain are considered heretical, it's not religion, it's just human nature, it's just that back then the church was the scientific institution, even if there was no religion there would be some other scientific institution that castrated new ideas. It's human nature to think we have everything figured out, until someone like einstein, or tesla comes along and turns the world on it's head
S0undBite 11 months ago 4
@S0undBite Science has to be hesitant to accept new ideas and theories, or anyone would come up with their own and claim it to be the answer. Every new theory has to be backed up by facts, has to be independently confirmed by other scientist, and has to be able to explain mounting amount of facts, which was the case with Einstein and Tesla.
And the church was never a scientific institution.
BGSoccerMagic 9 months ago
@S0undBite I wouldn't say heretical, because the job of a scientist is to be skeptical of every new idea. Until something is tested and retested, then written in a peer reviewed journal, scientists are going to be skeptical. If they weren't skeptical, all experiments would be biased. Real world scientists would be just as bad as Creationist scientists.
HimesInu 6 months ago
@HimesInu There's a difference between testing something extensively before considering something as truth, and vigorously attacking and trying to discredit the person who puts forward the theory. The only thing that changes is that people don't have the same power to arrest someone for it. If you are saying that there is no emotion and selfishness in the scientific community, and they are totally open, I highly doubt it. There is politics in everything, and if someone comes along and says
S0undBite 6 months ago
@S0undBite But here's the problem with so called "Creation Scientists": First, they expect that their "theory" is to go into text books without being peer reviewed. Second, they propose no evidence more than "It's in the Bible." Third, and this is the irony of your first statement, "Creation Scientists" are more likely to attack real scientist than the other way around.
HimesInu 6 months ago
@HimesInu "you are wrong", people are not all going to be friendly and open their arms to you.
S0undBite 6 months ago
@S0undBite I don't care if they are friendly or not. Also what does that have to do with my comment? And why are you quoting something I didn't say?
HimesInu 6 months ago

Wake up!!!
fastleppard 1 year ago
The Inquisition was totally opposite !
fastleppard 1 year ago
@fastleppard And what do you call "Orthodox Christianity"? You say that as if Christianity was a cohesive monolithic religion in the first few centuries of the "Christian Era". It was not! Christianity started out as fragmented as it is now. Orthodoxy, came about due to one group (roman bishops) who won out, by consensus over "heretical" groups such as the gnostics.

HimesInu 6 months ago
@HimesInu I am not ignorant ! You are the one that is fall in ignorance , because you can not understand God . God is simple and shows the simplicity of faith and virtue that you do not understand !

Just because historical accounts are conflicting as to dates, and accounts appear some years after death (actually there are 36 known 'lost' gospels, some earlier than mark) is rarely cited as definitive evidence that other (poor) historical figures did not exist.

Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 We will never know everything about God. He even says this in the Bible. God also sees the "big picture." He does things that will only make sense according to the big picture. Do you think an ant can understand humans? Thats like us trying to understand God. God is pleased when we have faith in Him. If God appeared, there would be no need for faith, and one of the BIGGEST ways that we can please God would suddenly disappear. Why would God want to do that?
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 that's a question you should ask yourself. why would god disappear? i do see a bigger picture as well. lol who knows for all we know god is laughing his ass off at this discussion. and saying humans can't grasp the concept is an insult. we can grasp it is just out of reach.

THE BIBLE IS TRUE.... read the Bible for yourself. Again this video is inaccurate.

Why argue?
choprabike 1 year ago
@choprabike ehrmm...except religion can't answer anything, not even questions on religion. Their scriptures have so much inconsisties and contradictions so how could they? What you should say is that religion tries to answer and fails. It's not a matter of arguing but calling people out on obvious bs. That's how our species goes forward, by questioning stupid beliefs, like the earth is flat etc.
byteresistor 1 year ago
@byteresistor Why don't you read the Bible for yourself, instead of believing stories about "contradictions?" Every "so-called" contradiction has been explained many years ago, yet we still hear about that nonsense. We also still hear that the Bible says the earth is flat. Thats not even in the Bible! The opposite is true. The Bible said the earth is round and that it hangs on nothing. This was long before science figured out that the earth is round and hangs in space. Read
romansten9 1 year ago
@byteresistor You obviously haven't read the Bible. Any so-called "contradictions" were answered years ago, but people still try to spread these lies.

They just say that diseases is a curse from god or the devil (hmm which one?), and people should keep away.
shoulderkolibri 2 years ago
What I am saying is that the Bible contains great wisdom in many areas of life. People that have followed the Bible have avoided countless problems. It states how to avoid disease in more ways than washing (which is still the #1 prevention of disease) It warns against promiscuity, which leads to STDs. It also teaches how to treat others, how to be successful in marriage and in parenting. It also speaks of science not yet discovered in other areas, such as astronomy and nature.
romansten9 2 years ago
If it does, none of it surpass beyond the most basic of scientific knowledge that are not at all profound. Many older culture's governments also practiced quarantine for diseases ranging from typhoid, leprosy, to STDs. You also mentioned astronomy, which was actually never known to be the Israelite's forte. This was the science that the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Greeks were known for.
shoulderkolibri 2 years ago
The Israelites practiced completely different set of marriage and parenting practice we know of today. They practiced polygamy, and their children are to be obedient with the threat of death. Today, all of these ideas are met with reproach.
And then there is pure show of their morals by their practice of public stoning on their "sinful" neighbors, and destroying entire nations with genocides. Not at all moral, unless you try to play the lawyer and justify their actions.
shoulderkolibri 2 years ago
Christians are living under the New Covenant of the New Testament of the Bible. You are referring to the Old Testament. These things are null and void, therefore your points are null and void. It is surprising the level of Bible illiteracy there is in the world today. When we well stop hearing about what was practiced in an ancient time in an ancient culture which is not even part of the New Covenant practiced today? Its time to start reading the whole Bible in context, not just one portion.
romansten9 2 years ago
Then what's with the contrast between the totalitarian OT and the suddenly positive NT? Bible apologetics refers to the messiah story as a symbol for the change (washing of sin, salvation, etc). But then what was the point of the flawed old covenant in the first place? Why is one part filled with contradiction and loopholes (plus a vengeful god), then the next we have mercy/salvation all of a sudden? The explanation is that this ain't part of a divine plan, but just a change in *authorship*.
shoulderkolibri 2 years ago
The Old Covenant was not flawed. The Old Testament points forward to Jesus. God's plan always included Jesus. God is the same in the Old Testament and the New. People lived under the law in the O.T. so God may have appeared more strict under that covenant. The Bible is a spiritual book written to members of God's family. The first step in understanding the Bible is to become part of God's family. In the process, a love for God will motivate you to begin to understand what it means.
romansten9 2 years ago
@romansten9 God is the same in the OT and new? THAT is scary!! " But I say to you, love your enemies".. you see Jesus clearly disagrees with a lot of things in the OT

The wisdom of God's plan is stunning.
romansten9 2 years ago
@romansten9 The wisdom of God? Couldn't he just forgive and be done with it, the way humans are supposed to? Why all the need for bloodshed? Why all the drama? Do YOU require that an innocent and defenceless creature be cruelly killed before you can forgive someone's errors and transgressions? I should hope not.

Christianity is solidly built upon a mountain of facts, for anyone willing to look.
romansten9 2 years ago
@romansten9 so when science finds the cure for cancer and all of that you can say that's fiction to or "aka playing god" arrogant people like you piss me off. science is not fiction. say that to the tooth paste you use, the cars you have, hell your own fucking DNA. Gottschalk1990 1 year ago

God should give credit to science. or does he show that by letting us live? and not have our government push the little red button and blowing us all to hell. oh and i forgot we have free will and free thinking. if "God" didn't want us to question ourselves and have doubts about
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 him why not just make the entire fucking race of humanity a bunch of mindless husks like you? cause apparently you cant think for yourself. you let God control every aspect of your life. let me ask you something. would you kill for your God?
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 Mindless? Some of the greatest minds throughout history were Christians. And many alive today. If they are mindless, perhaps you would like to debate one? A large number of our medical community and scientists are Christians. Mindless? God doesn't control every aspect of a Christian's life. Quite the OPPOSITE. You need to read the Bible. We aren't in the Old Testament any more! The only really FREE people are Christians. Those without Jesus are in bondage to sin and the law.
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 yes actually i would like to debate with one. and i did not say all Christians are mindless i was pertaining to you. and that's quite funny how you proclaim to be free. you are not free and never will be. you are shackled to the ground with chains bigger than the ones that hold freighters. and you make it sound like you still are in the old testament. and i am reading the bible actually. the more i read it the more it pisses me off. and disbelieve even more.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 You want God to do something about the evil in the world, and then you are surprised when God is a just God and says that if people reject His forgiveness, they will face judgment. Make up your mind. Do you want God to punish evil or not? You can't answer both ways! Which one do you want God to do?
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 the reason why war stopped is because we are smart enough to stop killing each other over god otherwise you and i wouldn't be speaking right now
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 be human. truly be mortal. not a god. that's what i want him to do. i want him to put himself in this modern society and appear in flesh and bone just as you and i are.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 because god hasn't done jack shit to help the people of this world as of now. I don't see what the fuck he is waiting for. and atheist cannot live in sin nor go to hell or heaven because they don't believe.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 and by the way you never answered my question. would you kill for god?
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 Christians are just like politicians they dance around the questions cause they have no real answers to give.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 Just because I didn't answer your question within 30 seconds doesn't mean I'm "dancing around your question like a politician" Not everyone is signed on here 24/7 waiting to answer YOU. And you call God demanding? Look at yourself. You are proving to be impossible to have a conversation with. Your logic has no clear direction, half the time you defend God, half the time you attack Him. You insult people, have no patience, and you use profanity.
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 what can i say? im human.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 I'm being self condescending like the bible. and everyone wonders why nothing makes any sense
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@Gottschalk1990 You claim to be a Christian and you insult the Bible? and you use profanity? I'm not saying that anyone is perfect, and God will forgive anything, but you don't even seem to be sorry for attacking God and the Bible. So how do you consider yourself a Christian? Are you just lying to everyone on this page? How can anyone trust anything you say?
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 No, God will NOT forgive anything!! Does he forgive the people in Hell?? Haven't you heard of the unforgivable sin, ie, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit???? Looks like YOU need to read the Bible, sweety.
coralarch 1 year ago
@coralarch I never claimed that God forgives people that are already dead, or are in hell. I never claimed that there is not a sin called blasphemy. Why don't you show me the post where I said that God forgives dead people? Its incredible that you claimed that I did. I only said that God forgives people. Obviously I am talking about living people because dead people do not ask for forgiveness. I didn't think I needed to spell that out for you. I said nothing that is contrary to the Bible.
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 and lastly i would not want my subjects to blindly to believe in me and worship me i would welcome those that can think on their own and those who think differently. after all we are "his" "creation". he put this upon himself by creating us apparently, so its his fault we are like this. therefore he must claim responsibility for those of other religions and beliefs and recognize that this world is not perfect and nothing in it. perfection does not create imperfection. bottom line.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 You must be a typically paranoid Christian to read unintended meanings into comments. You implied that God forgives anything- when in fact , his own biography denies this. I merely tried to further your education, and instead of thanking me, you snarl! God does not love or forgive everyone, period. His own book says so.
coralarch 1 year ago
@coralarch You claim that I am reading into things? and paranoid? you are the one attacking me, not the other way around! Snarl? when did this happen? I have been nothing but respectful to you, and you call me names and accuse me of things. God loves everyone, that is what the Bible says, and God forgives anyone that is willing to come to Him and ask. The Bible is very clear about this, so please don't be condescending and try to "educate" me on the Bible. Anyone can see that what I said is true
romansten9 1 year ago
@coralarch You claim that God does not love everyone, and you say that "His book says so" Where? If you are referring to God hating certain behaviors, I can agree. But even parents "hate" certain behaviors in their children, but still love their child.
romansten9 1 year ago
@romansten9 to truly know something you must question its existence.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 oh so he forgives all of those people that go to hell but since they denied him they are going to hell anyway? lol yeah really forgiving. if i was god i would personally see it that they understand me. and i wouldn't put those in hell that do not follow me, and i would not wish people to bow before me i would want them to stand with me side by side. and i would have not lead over billions to die for me in a mindless war. when really it was for control over land, not for god.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 i do believe there is a God just not in every aspect you make him to be. and he sure as shit don't control my life. i have morals i can make the right decisions on my own without guidance. oh and one more thing atheist do not believe in nothing. they believe in the theory of evolution and unlike everything in this world. its about the only damn thing that makes sense.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 and no before you even ask I am not atheist. I am christian
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
@romansten9 and maybe if you done a little questioning for yourself you might see everyone Else's view on this whole subject, because i can clearly see you are one sided on this topic.
Gottschalk1990 1 year ago
Lets look at history.

Jpbaz44 2 years ago
That's not exactly what it is being presented here, it's a mockery of ancient beliefs. That the church believed the earth as the center of the universe is very well documented and to those who thought otherwise were jailed, for blasphemy. Surely you must know this, you sound like you've got a few brain cells left in there. If not just research Galileo vs the Church! and learn something new perhaps!
Vegasgodless 2 years ago 13
Read the article "Triangles in the Sky" by searching for maa, triangles, and sky.

the bible has never been correct about any of its attempts to explain the physical world or universe..
ab330 2 years ago 32
@ab330 True for the most part, but it is not a science book nor does it profess to be.
brianpadraic 1 year ago
@brianpadraic .. oh yes it did profess to be (just ask Galileo)..until a few hundred years ago when they (religious leaders) decided they couldn't compete with the scientific method anymore, and instead decided to focus in the supernatural only .. of course, a subject that no scientific experiment can be constructed to prove or disprove the existence of...
ab330 1 year ago
@ab330 The Bible explains the physical world and the universe correctly, and the astonishing thing is that the Bible has done this prior to scientific "discoveries" Just one example: A documentary called "the star of Bethlehem" shows how computer software now available shows in detail that the star behaved exactly as described in the Bible. Previously, people thought that the star was impossible. The software allows the mapping of the night sky from any point and from any date in history.
romansten9 1 year ago
wow i love how even after having cold hard facts shoved in their faces. religious people still just cant grasp the concept that there might not be a god. as an athiest i choose not to belive. simply because of the fact that there is more evidence against christ than for him.you got the bible we have thousands of the worlds most intelligent people telling us that there is just no way this could have happened who are you gonna belive? scholars?scientists? or people who killed women with stones?

God damn these atheists! First they take our Jesus away, next they will come after Santa Claus. Then the easter bunny, then the tooth fairy, and before you know it, adults will not have anymore fantasy charactors to believe in. Damn all the atheists for taking away charactors that we could truly believe in! May you all burn in everlasting Hell!

My challenge is for ANYONE to find a Biblical prophecy concerning Israel that hasn't happened so far!

I'm an open minded guy, I sympathize with agnostics, but I think atheist are really emotionally hurt people. get help!
patocorona 2 years ago
i don't think he said Jesus never existed, but rather that no once can prove that he existed because the time table that people point to for his life span was so varied depending on what civilization was talking about him
blacksabbathgnr098 2 years ago
Atheists are really emotionally hurt people? WTF? Seriously, so a lack of belief in any God or Gods is the sign of emotional trauma? Sorry, but if you wish to make a cohesive and rational argument, the last thing you should be doing is stating a sweeping generalisation that doesn't apply to many of us.
FSAthe1st 2 years ago

Ultimately it's understanding those & living by them that will save you, not what Jesus actual name was, where he was born or what he looked like
kidcalabria 2 years ago
it doesn't explicitly say that. it implies it though. but it does say that the earth was flat, held up by four pillars and above us is heaven and below us is hell. the fact that the earth is round and that there is no "up" or "down" proves that the bible wasn't written by god.
blacksabbathgnr098 2 years ago 4
You're confusing things, including your grammar. Nobody thinks The Bible was 'written by God', & since God is infinite these things cannot be 'proven' by anything, for everything that men do is finite
kidcalabria 2 years ago
umm, no i'm not. the bible CLAIMS to be written through the voice of god.
